There were signs, ever since he woke up some few days ago. The sun had seemed a little brighter, the day a little better. Even the herbs he had wandered around to pick had seemed fresher. That could easily be blamed on the changing season, but something...was telling him something. His eyes always seemed to venture up to the sky at certain moments, watching as birds would fly in the direction he knew Abaven was. For a boy who spent his life with his eyes on the ground, turning them to the sky was odd. Something was telling him something...and it was growing too large to ignore. He had to go home, he had to check up on his brothers. Something was happening! It would be easy to blame this on his anxiety, his paranoia, but he...felt like it wasn't.

So he bounded, as fast as his incredibly awkward paws could. A year into his life and he still looked like some gawky teenager, and he was pretty sure he always would. His paws were a little too large, his legs a little too long, the rest of him a little too skin and bone. He had some muscle to him, some mass, but it wasn't very obvious. His body percentage was nearly nill, yet he was healthy in some way. Just...awkward. Incredibly and embarrasingly awkward. He didn't fall nearly as much as he used too, but he still tripped when he moved too quickly. Unless something depended on his agility, which, today seemed too. He moved with an odd elegance, not tripping once as he ventured from the cold north towards his home, panting and taking breaks whenever he needed too. Starling was certainly not one for agility, and he would have to work on that if he wanted to be there for emergencies. Emergencies didn't wait untill you caught your breath!

With burning lungs he bounded towards his pack's border before suddenly...freezing. Sky blue eyes grew so wide as a very very familiar scent touched his nose, twisted the gears in his mind as he shuddered to a stop, paws skidding in the earth. ""Padre?" He whispered, the accent returning to his tongue so fluidly. He stared at the lands he knew so very well, his eyes wide. They began to burn, sting and grow wet as he stood there on the border, his father's scent so strong. Had he been home long? He must have, if he had only just returned, he wouldn't smell this strong. Star's little heart felt heavy with that knowledge, his head slowly lowering as the emotions battled within him. For one, he was beyond excited. Bass was home! But for another...why..

Why hadn't he...come for Starling?
