Take me somewhere new

He was quiet. Very quiet. Unnervingly quiet. She knew he was a quiet man, someone of very few words if they were not necessary. His facial expressions were very telling, but when he had just one word to say in response to her promises, she felt a stab inside her chest which she tried to ignore. Was he not as sure as she was? Was he afraid, or unwilling, to repeat such words to her in return? Was staying with her in a sense of eternity just too much for him? To her, she felt certain that although he had not been present for much of her life, that his presence would be loved and appreciated for years to come. The sinking feeling in her belly was difficult to shove aside, but when he looked at her with a soft gaze and firmly told her that he wanted to be with her, with no one else, she did not want to ruin the moment by voicing any of her worries. When he laid his head on her chest, she nuzzled into him, and then lay back in a relaxed manner, her paws still loosely clinging around his neck. Although doubt clouded her mind, she still felt complete, and like she was in the right place. His closeness reassured her, and kept her from thinking too far into the future, allowing her to feel the present moment. Elated, she sighed softly, then looked to him, pressing forward to plant another kiss upon his cheek. "We don't have to worry about forever," she murmured quietly, smiling as she pulled back and tried to meet his tired gaze, her own eyelids drooping, "Let's just start with tomorrow." Allowing her head to fall back, laying comfortably upon the ground, the constant sound of pounding rain would lull her toward slumber. Her heart thrummed within her chest, but she was so at ease that she was beginning to feel very sleepy - the night had provided a lot of excitement, and a lot of new emotion she wasn't quite used to. Drifting off, her ears were still perked should she hear his voice murmuring in the darkness, but at last she felt like she might finally retreat into the coziest sleep she'd ever experienced. -exit via sleep- |
