Mammoth Mess [HUNT PREP FOR LONERS]

Mæva listened and nodded when she was assigned to handle a torch. Yep, that was definitely something she could do. Pine pitch was something she'd learned to craft fairly early on though she had to admit she still had a fair bit to learn. Still, she'd done it enough that hopefully she could make a reliable torch. They really only needed the fire to make the animals panic and get them running. Once they were running then momentum could help take pressure off the wolves to keep them driving forward. They'd still need to keep on the heels of the beasts of course. It wouldn't do to have the the Big Hairys turn and try stomping them into jelly.

He listened as attentively as he could to everyone's suggestions, but his attention span wasn't something that lasted very long. He wasn't good with formulating a game plan. He was a doer not a thinker and this went against his very nature. It wasn't until Jynn started talking that he made sure to reign in his mind. He didn't want to miss something important. As she got the plan ready she instructed that they would get the stakes set up and then he and another wolf would stay at the base of the sound to get a start on slaying the beast. He grinned at her and made a mock salute with his paw. "Yes, Ma'am, can do!" Seeing as he wasn't much of a runner either he figured his size was being best utilized in an area that, well, didn't involve running. He had nothing on the hairy's size, but dammit he was pretty tall and muscly. He could make this work. Walk, "Talk" Think |

Everyone seemed to have something to input, and - surprisingly to Apollinaris - they were all good suggestions. His Spartan cohort suggested to pick a smaller one, and he shot Halcyone a disappointed smirk. He knew she was right, but he wanted so badly to pick the biggest male and just go for it. Naturally, his mentor had some great advice, and the steel blue warrior glanced around to see what everyone thought. The one that had called the hunt seemed to settle on a plan, and he listened intently. He was chosen to be one of the few to carry torches, and he hummed with satisfaction. Anything remotely dangerous and Apollinaris would be there. Another glance to Halycone with a side grin, wondering what she thought of the whole idea. Hopefully soon, they would all have something worthwhile from all this work.
Gaze settled on Mæva and he shot a smooth grin, rolling his shoulders. "Shall we?" The brute was ready to start gathering supplies for the torches.

Aoife listened excitedly as the strange not-wolf laid out the plan. She was a little disappointed not to be picked as a firebearer, but she got over her disappointment fast in the face of the adventure unfolding. She could help them build the torches, anyway, since with her clever hands she'd helped her da with things like it a lot, and she was great at starting fires. Besides, maybe it was better that she wasn't holding a smokey torch next to her face so she could see what was going on better. It was hard to write about an adventure like this if you couldn't even see half of what was going on!

The wolf-like female stuck with the simplest, easiest plan, which was all to the better as far as Artur was concerned since they had a group who didn't know one another, had no trust built, and no real idea of the capabilities of each of them. Only a handful of them seemed to know one another at all, let alone worked as a group, and certainly none of them had ever hunted any of these creatures before. Simplicity was going to be their best ally here. So, scare them with torches, chase them off a cliff, let gravity do the work for them. Artur inclined his head approvingly towards the female.
