A louder, freer burst of laughter escaped her this time at his promise of kicking her ass. She leaped nimbly out of the way of his swipe, wiggling her brows at him. "Yeah, okay, whatever helps you sleep at night." Shaking her head, she fell into an easy gait as they made their way to Iolaire's cottage. The scent of the herbs the healer had been working with reached her nose, and she was grateful to be smelling something a little better more pleasant and earthy than blood, for once.

"There were still some wild dogs hanging around from before," she answered, recalling the wild dog pack that had tried and failed to claim their territory. "We took care of them, though." She tossed a glance, a small smile at Mort. Despite all the messiness, they had won against the dogs.

She cleared her throat. "I treated Mortis' wounds with a marigold poultice since that was all we had around, if that was okay..." Gods, they really should have come to Iolaire first. She was suddenly a bit nervous she hadn't done the right thing, but it was too late for that, wasn't it? "I didn't know what to do about his wing, though. And I've still got a few wounds myself," she finished, indicating the bite on her right shoulder and left haunch.

Mortis grinned at his Auntie, dragging his sprained wing against the ground as he moved close enough to kiss her cheek. “Hey, Auntie. We kicked their asses” he explained, after Mal told her what they had faced. No need to go into detail about how they had been distracted, and caught unawares. They had still won in the end, and defended the Armada.

“She cleaned my cuts, too, and then we came right here” He promised, giving Mal a side-long smile. She had done well, or at least, to his inexperienced eye. At least she wasn’t still saying that this was her fault. He hadn’t liked to hear her try and take the blame.

Two children up against another dog attack at the border. She could feel the grey hairs beating away the black. "You be sure to tell your father that they were back again." Having wild dogs around just wouldn't do. "They need to be dealt with permanently." What if they had come upon Asla while she was out alone? The girl was tough, but she was no fighter, especially against a pack of dogs.

Malalia spoke, explaining what she'd done for the wounds on Mort and Iolaire nodded in approval. "Well done. Quick thinking." She praised the girl before heading to Mort to inspect what had been done. His wounds weren't bad so she would leave the poultice upon them. Going to his wing, she gently manipulated the bones within, feeling for any breaks. There were none. "Just a sprain. You should work to strengthen the muscles in your wings. Daily exercises." She gave Mort a gentle pat on the head. "You'll be fine though."

Going to Malalia, she inspected the wounds on the young woman's shoulder and haunch. "Not terribly deep. You both were lucky." Going into the cottage, she collected squares of skin, water and a salve. Coming back out, she used the skin and water to gently clean the wounds. Once they were free from dog saliva and blood, she smeared on a coating of the salve. "Honey, ground willow bark, turmeric and limestone powder." She informed the girl of the ingredients. "With a touch of basil to mask the strange smell."

Io has a dwarf caribou companion and a snow leopard companion. Assume they aren't with her unless stated otherwise.

Mal gave a huff of laughter when Mortis followed up about the dogs. It was true, even if it hadn't felt like it in that very moment. The girl released a breath she didn't know she'd been holding when Iolaire praised her methods. At least I did something right. Thankfully, too, Mort's wing would be perfectly fine. Jeez... maybe she should've taken a hint from her friend and stopped blaming herself so much. Of course, that was much easier said than done.

What a day, what a day.

When the woman came around to clean her own wounds, she winced slightly, but otherwise held still as she cleaned her wounds, and then smeared a pungent salve over the rendered flesh. She wrinkled her nose, but soon enough the healer explained its contents. The honey and willow bark were simple enough. "What are the turmeric and limestone for?" she asked, reaching down to sniff at her wounds.

She tossed a glance at Mortis, after. "Wanna see if we can find your dad, then?"
