light rain was falling, more of a mist than anything, the soft drops lining the thick fur of a wolf and glistening like tiny crystals. the rain was warm in comparison to the cool atmosphere, as was the breath of the relatively compact figure whom was wading through the steadily thinning snow. thick fur defended the male from the generally harsh environment, the fluffy mix of warm browns and cold monotones common to his bloodline. black claws were largely hidden beneath the moist mix of rain and snow, dark toes just visible through the white, melting snow. disgruntled by the overall wetness of the area, lip curling to reveal pale teeth, ansgar falk would trudge onward dutifully. as heir of the falk family, it was his job in life to find a mate and keep the family going... but the falks had been solely german for so long, ansgar wondered idly what should occur if a mate was taken not of the norm. few german families remained after all. a loud exhale of breath, a heavy sigh and the dark man would raise his head against the drizzle and glance around wondering where in the hell he actually was; he'd certainly never been here before. had he entered a new territory without realising?; it would be troublesome if he had.
amber eyes would furrow in confusion upon seeing a very large mass extending before him, claws hooking slightly as he would grip the earth warily. the feature which appeared to stretch quite far seemed entirely unnatural to ansgar, who had never before had the pleasure of coming across anything man made despite his four years. the dark fur which laced his spine bristled mildly, even as he inched closer to meet the behemoth of a wall. it was, startling - feeling this small, the heir swiftly decided he did not like it one bit. with a growl and the murmurings of rough german, he would turn alongside the wall; it was still a source of some shelter, despite how foreign it seemed to be. it soon became apparent that the stiff male had no clue where he was going, was following no scent trail, nothing; ansgar had little reason for ambition at the moment, indeed he felt quite hollow for the moment. his father had sent him away, pressured him - 'you must have a mate, an heir of your own, in order to take my place,' he said - sometimes, the german wolf wondered whether it was even worth it, what good would it do for him to take over as head of the falk family? his cousins, ottmar and ulrich would quite happily take over he knew for certain; they had been denied the chance despite being older because he was of the main line.
he would swallow thickly, shake his pelt and return to his silent, solemn trudging. he missed his family yes, and hated his father for sending him away from dietlinde and ludwig especially. the precipitation was slowly getting heavier, leaving ansgar wondering if perhaps there were any caves in the area. brown and caramel ears were upright upon the loner's mottled skull - the male rarely appreciated being surprised, but was especially on edge in unknown territories.

She was unsure of what was going on with Ludicael, the Sol was gone a lot of the time and the wolves who had showed the first day she called are all over the place. She would go to the pack's land, check for the others but would only find one or two out of the handful that actually made up the pack. They were so few in numbers and no wolf has come to the borders seeking a pack to join, the only females there were her, the Sol and a pup. Aria had not found a suitable mate, well, she thought she found somebody but they suddenly took off on her and left her hanging. It made her so angry, he had asked her not to lave him and there he went, not even bothering to say goodbye. Aria found herself roaming the lands again, what else was there for her to do? She would go hunt and bring something back for the pack but if she did it would have been a waste because barely anyone was there when ever she went back. She couldn't eat the animal either, it would be way too much and she was unsure of whether or not somebody would come along and eat the animal or if it would lay there and go to waste. Lost in her thoughts she had failed to notice the light rain that had begun to fall, collecting on her coat. She didn't run for shelter, no, it wasn't that bad and besides, she loved the rain. It felt so good on her body, relaxing, refreshing. The only thing about this rain, it wasn't the usual cool rain she liked, it was warm, kind of sticky in a way that was uncomfortable. So after an hour of walking in it she finally decided she should find a place to settle down until it passed, again, she had nothing else better to do. Paws carried her on, smooth movements, emerald green eyes scanning the land around her, ears swiveling to catch anything that might give away another creatures presence. Quickly after a matter of minutes the rain began to get heavy, going from light drips to a roar as it started to turn into a downpour. Great, just what I need. She growled to herself, a heavy sigh escaping her jaws as she tried looking around for a place to take shelter but all she saw was a dark shape not far from her. Now being the way she was, Aria didn't care that this figure, that ended up being a wolf, was a stranger. She would go up to anyone and strike up a conversation. Hey you! She barked, closing the distance between them in a jog, slowing down a few feet from him. You know a place we can stop to get out of this rain? She asked, her voice louder than usual because of the rain. "normal. talk. think. you." |

rain was something ansgar was largely unaccustomed; snow on the other hand he was more than comfortable with. his thick pelt was designed to be a barrier against snow, rain often worked its way to the skin and left the german uncomfortably chilled and itchy even if it was warm at first. when it continued to grow heavier and heavier, at last breaching a downpour, the mottled wolf would snarl in frustration head swinging as he pushed his nose against the snow in attempt to pick up any scents that would lead to a cave. deep brown nose twitched and snuffled, first along the ground, then in the air, but the elements were against him. just as he had begun to give in and started shifting closer to the monstrous wall, a voice would be heard vibrating off the rain. large, sharp skull would turn, amber eyes flashing as he recognised her speech to be of the common tongue. it would unfortunately mean that he should respond in kind, but he would wait until she drew closer to do so.
he could understand english perfectly well, fortunately, even if he was not so good at returning the favour and speaking it so when the woman - oddly bearing no tail - began to ask him whether or not he knew a place to go in order to escape the rain, he replied simply. " nein, afraid not. " his accent was thick, guttural and his words slightly slurred, but it was better than giving no answer at all. his slight form, compact and fluffy turned to face the lighter wolf. a light frown would crease the distinct face, brows pulling inward as he stood still against the wall to prevent receiving the full spray. his amber eyes would gain a thoughtful light as he would hesitantly begin to speak, " wolfsrudel... ah, packs? any near to here? " his thought processes would likely come across as illogical, in the first few seconds anyhow. but after many years living beneath his perfect father, ansgar had come to realise that most, if not all packs had a stable source of shelter - usually for mothers and the aged.
after he spoke, the mottled male would seemingly ignore the woman; it was not on purpose that he did so, for he knew very well she was still there. molten eyes would rove over the surrounds, everything a haze of monotones thanks to the now barely-there snow and pouring rains. the rain had been too warm for the cold bed of white, leaving it with only the option of melting. with a low sigh ansgar would turn patiently back to the woman, ears flickering. he'd been unable to see anything through the haze.

Ears perked up at the sound of a strong accent tied into the male's words, at first saying something she did not understand but then moving into him saying he didn't know of a place where they could take shelter from the rain. Dang! She growled, emerald orbs quickly pulled away from him and scanned their surroundings, looking carefully but quickly for a place suitable enough for them to take shelter until this rain passed. She looked twice in darker spots of the snow, looking very carefully before moving on. Why today of all days she went out to explore, she just wanted to have a relaxing day and enjoy the weather, maybe discover somehting new. But no, it had to go and start raining, not even cold refreshing rain either. It was like the world was like "Oh, you want to have a good time? Too bad!" An ear swiveled to the side at his voice, bringing the shewolf out of her thoughts about the jerk of a weather, saying something that was in a different language before asking if there were any packs nearby. The way he spoke was odd, it was broken up and not smooth like hers which made her think that maybe he wasn't from around her and instead came from different lands. She pushed that aside, it wasn't a big deal so she went to thinking about what packs were in these lands and where. Well, GLaciem was in the North towards the coast, near to where they were. Tortuga was close, somewhere by the mountains between Glaciem and Ludicael. The other packs were on the opposite side of the lands, way too far for them to go to for shelter. Yeah, Glaciem and Tortuga. But I'm not sure they would allow us into their lands, especially Tortuga but I don't really know much about Glaciem. She answered him, turning back to face the male, her ears flattening against her head as lcarge, cold droplets fell into them. Aria stood with her head low and shoulders up, as if by standing like that would protect her from the rain. It didn't do anything really, just made her look stupid. We should just look for a spot as we look for the pack, that way we don't waste time looking for the pack then even more time looking for shelter. She explained to him, lifting her head and taking a few steps back before quickly shook herself off. It was pointless to do but she would have less water in her fur when she found a place to rest while the rain passed. Unless your the loner type and would rather go on alone. She said with a raised brow of curiousity. Aria had no problem walking with him looking for shelter, she didn't really care. Some wolves just didn't like being around others they didn't know but she was the opposite, she liked meeting new people and would do things with them she would with somebody that was her best friend. amber eyes fell upon the tailless woman as he replied, idly curious about the lack of limb, but otherwise as detached as ever. her reply he was uncertain of - it must have been slang or something - but he took it to be some sort of negative response. her tone suggested as much. lip curled slightly as she continued moving, finding himself casually falling into step beside her despite wishing to remain by the wall now that he was certain it was safe. his eyes roved about as much as her own emerald, even as he noticed the woman growing more subdued.
his words seemed to startle her, the german seemingly confusing her as much as english often did him. the wheat and rust female jerked out of her thoughts, and ansgar could see her drawing forth what she could remember about the surroundings. finally she spoke on the subject, two of the words entirely unfamiliar - these he assumed were the names of the packs - and an exasperated growl would fall from the male, pondering the situation. black lips turned downward as he sighed, glancing up to the dark sky in consideration even as the woman whose name he still did not know came up with a sound idea he idly listened to. the rain wouldn't let up for a few hours at least, so the falk heir found himself nodding agreeably. it couldn't hurt to try.
as she shook her fur, the german would follow suit sending droplets of water flying as he trotted calmly after her. when she asked if he was of the loner type, ansgar found himself simply shrugging and raising a brow - as if to ask whether she was coming or not. " ich bin ansgar falk, you? " almost unconsciously, the mottled male would slip into his first language, realising his blunder after it was too late. hopefully the woman would understand what he was trying to say despite it all.

She caught him, emerald eyes didn't miss that look directed towards her rear. Specifically, her tail, or lack of. It was kind of amusing, it was the second or third time he had looked at her, as if it was more interesting than the scars over her right eye which most people would stare at and ask about. She didn't really mind, didn't care at all. Her missing tail was not a sensitive subject to talk about. She would ask him about it later once they found a suitable shelter and exchanged names. He had agreed to looking for a shelter along the way, that was good because she really didn't want to waste time looking for the pack only to not find them then spend even more time looking for shelter. So with a nod of her head she motioned him to follow, paws turning her body and carrying her off in a Northwest direction, a forest not far from where they were. With a forest they should be plenty of places to take shelter, always offering her a place whenever she was lost or stuck in some form of a storm. When she asked if he was the loner type she had cast a glance over her shoulder, catching the male shrug his shoulders. How did you not know? You were either a loner without a pack, just roaming the lands or you weren't and was with a pack or a traveling companion. Whatever though, it wasn't of any importance to the shewolf so she turned her head back around and continued on. Something caused her to quickly look back at him though, he had spoke but his words were not of a language she understood, instead it was something she never heard before. The only time she heard anothering language was when she met Darsha but he didn't tell her what it was and didn't try teaching her any either. I'm guessing your name is Ansgar... Falk, then? She asked with a raised brow and light chuckle, she turned back around, leading the male into the forest where her emerald gaze quickly searched for some form of shelter. I'm Aria, Aria Corvi. She threw a glance over her shoulder with a wink before turning back, jumping over a small fallen tree and continued searching for a place. I'm from a pack called Ludiceal, but it is very small and the members are everywhere so I go out and explore a lot. She might as well give him some information about herself, after all, they would be staying together until the rain let up, allowing them to go their separate ways. "normal. talk. think. you." |

amber eyes glanced away from the tailless woman, turning now to follow her as she led him on a hunt for shelter. she might not know for certain where to go, but he was willing to bet that as an inhabitant of this place she was more likely to know than he. ansgar hadn't intended to get so distracted by her lack of a tail - what was it to him if another was missing some vital part of their make-up? - but it was just so .. strange, to the german. where he had come from, almost everyone looked drastically similar; admittedly the majority were related to him also, but never had he seen such a deformity. scars, those he'd seen time and time again, but defects, defects were new. he supposed the woman wasn't any less of a wolf for lacking that detail, his mind just struggled to work around something so bizarre.
content in following, despite how often his father had attempted to ingrain that falks were leaders, ansgar would trek quietly northwest. his dark fur in contrast to aria's led him to look like a trailing, three dimensional shadow, his tail dipping low, weighed down by rain as it were. she seemed to know where she was going at least, the german male thankful for that small stroke of luck - because when stranded in the unknown and soaked to the bone, having a friendly stranger whom knew what they were doing was always a good thing. faintly, a dark blur could be seen in the direction they were headed, and the mottled wolf felt relief deep inside. shelter
when he shrugged in response to her question, about whether or not he was of the loner type, she seemed slightly .. confused as to how he could not be certain. to be quite blunt and put it simply, ansgar had never the chance to find out whether or not he was suited to pack or loner life. his father had never left much option in regards to his residence, though now that he'd been sent forth alone, he was uncertain what lifestyle would be thrust upon him. she turned her head, refocusing upon what little was available through the sheets of water and the heir was left to his happy silence.
at least, until he realised they knew not each other's names. then, ansgar was fumbling in the dark, accidentally speaking in his mother tongue when introducing himself. at least she seemed to understand what it was he was attempting to convey. " ah, yes. apologies. i am used to my ... german. " he announced, once he recalled the common name for his mother tongue. " a pleasure for us to meet, aria. " he spoke, unknowingly butchering a common greeting. a light, sheepish grin curled the corners of the dark male's lips, truly he had not intended to switch languages.
finally they breached the forest they'd been headed toward, soddenly leaping over the small fallen tree even as spray from one of the surrounding trees was unleashed upon him. scowl would replace his grin as thick fur would shake to and fro and water fly free. thick fur was such a nuisance at times. as she spoke of her pack, small though it might be, ansgar felt obliged to return favour. his maw opened, and ensuring he was still speaking english, he would tell of himself; " i am the falk heir. my vater, the current head, ruled our family pack. he sent me off to find a mate and raise an heir; until i do so, i am not to return. " his words abrubt and stiff, slurred by his accent though they were. he was uncomfortable talking about him self - but she had told of her pack. etiquette declared he must reciprocate.

Aria Corvi
AH, YES. APOLOGIES. I AM USED TO MY ... GERMAN. She turned her head when he spoke, ears swiveling to the side and back as far as they could go so she could catch what he was saying. He was apologizing, probably for talking to her in a different language which he confirmed and called German. She raised a brow at this, the only other wolf she met who spoke another language was Darsha, but she did not get the chance to ask him what language it was. Thinking about that made her think about asking this Ansgar if he could teach her some, not a lot, just some basic stuff like a pup would learn once he was able to talk.
A PLEASURE FOR US TO MEET, ARIA. She gave a nod of her head, a likewise gesture but now she was not looking back at him. Aria was focusing on the path before her, making sure she didn't trip on any tree roots or rocks that might have missed her eyes. They would move up off the ground, scanning the forest as she piked up the speed and now moved at a decent paced troy. Running was too much work and would exhaust her but a trot was fine because it was fasting than walking but slower than running.
I AM THE FALK HEIR. MY VATER, THE CURRENT HEAD, RULED OUR FAMILY PACK. HE SENT ME OFF TO FIND A MATE AND RAISE AN HEIR; UNTIL I DO SO, I AM NOT TO RETURN. After telling the male about where she came from and why she was here, he seemed to think he should do it also. He explained that he was a heir, she guessed for a family known as the Falks. His leader had sent him away t find a mate, producing suitable heirs and wasn't allowed back until he did so. This caused her brows to raise, who would not allow somebody back into a back because they didn't brig heirs. To have children should be between two people who loved each other, not forced together just for producing a heir.
At least her gaze found something, a dark spot beneath some snow against what looked to be a knocked over tree. She came to a stop, turned her body to face Ansgar with a grin. Found a place, right there. She turned back around and motioned towards what looked like a small cave behind a tree and covered with snow on the top and sides but the entrance was small so they would have to squeeze through. It may look small from here but I'm sure there is more room on the inside. She smirked, quickly bounding forward like a rabbit and coming to a stop just before the entrance. She didn't wait for him, he was a big boy and could walk over by himself. So when she got to the entrance she quickly checked it out, walking around it quickly to make sure there were no holes. Satisfied with the outside she finally went to the front and stuck her head inside, with it raining it was already dark so her emerald gaze didn't need long to readjust and when they did she didn't see anything lingering inside.
It's clear, hurry before you catch something. She barked through the rain, quickly shaking as much water out of her fur as possible before squeezing through the small entrance. She had to use her front paws to pull her forward, moving from side to side to squeeze inside. It was cold but better than being outside, dark and empty. With a heavy sigh the shewolf pushed herself up, able to fully stand on the inside but instead of just standing there she mad her way to the back of the den and lay down.
"normal.
