Heal me love me

Amalia took a deep breath of the cold winter air, letting it fill her lungs as she tried not to sink into the deeper snow. She practically had to jump up to get her tiny frame out of the snow, hopping around much like a bunny rabbit. Letting out a huff she paused by the borders, there was no use in looking for herbs in this depth of snow. Oh well, she was eager enough to get back to her wife and new baby girls. The scent of newborns clung to her pale fur, not even the snow was able to wash off their distinctive smell. The tiny woman was about to turn around when a pale form caught her eye, almost lost among the winter drift. There was something wrong with the boy though, his breathing was off. Alarm filled her as she hurried to his side, picking up the family scent of her sister. Oh, he was one of Arian's sons. She didn't know his name, so she very gently leaned down to nuzzle his shoulder. "Hey there sweetheart. You should sit up to breath better, my darling. I am Amalia, I am your mother's adoptive sister. I'm here, okay? You got to take deep breaths hon, breath in and count to three, and then blow out until all the air leave your lungs." Amalia said softly, her voice coaxing and sweet.

Making the trip as quick as possible, she followed the trail back to her den so that she coils race down the path. Quickly making it to her herb den she grabbed a small bit of her Kava, making sure not to grab too much. She didn't know how much he had had before, and it could be dangerous if too much is taken at one time. Hardly stopping to catch her breath, she turned and raced back towards the boy, the Kava carefully clutched between her lips. Panting when she reached him, she nosed the herb over to him. Watching him with careful eyes, worry making her whine again.

She could tell right away that the boy didn't speak much, his voice was soft and under used. He introduced himself and she grinned, licking his cheek. "Its a pleasure to finally meet you, Razor. I wish they would have been under better circumstances though! How do you feel now, my love?" It concerned her that this was a regular thing, and that he was on his own. "You know to watch the amount of Kava you take, right? It's not the best herb to be on long time. What other symptoms do you have dear? Maybe I can set up a better regime of herbs for you. I have been studying sicknesses and ailments in pups and young ones, so I might just have something that works."

She listened closely to his other symptoms, humming softly as she lowered her rump to the ground, sitting in the snow. Sounded almost like he had asthma as well as having seizures. It was very unusual, and she was concerned for her nephew. She could use some elderberries to help with his breathing and hopefully increase his lung capacity. It also worked to strengthen his immune system, which could never hurt. She cursed it for being winter, there was no way that she would be able to find him some ginseng root, even though she knew that it would help him out a lot. Give him more energy, reduce his stress to hopefully calm the seizures, and help him rest. And of course she had none left in her stores. She sighed, shaking her head. It was a pretty rare herb too, she generally had to travel pretty far to find even one stalk of it. "Do you know if any of the healers back home have ginseng root, Razor? I think it would help a lot, you could sleep better and it would help to keep you calm. I bet that when you are upset or overly excited your episodes happen, right?" She asked with a tilt of her head. She didn't know of herbs that directly helped seizures that weren't dangerous in high dosages, so keeping him calm was probably he best bet to keep them under control. She could give him watercress too, to help keep his strength up. Mmm... yes that would do! Raising to her paws again she motioned towards the path that led to her herb den. She was sure that Leo wouldn't mind if Razor came in so that she could treat him, he was family after all. So she took off through the path that she had carved through the snow, setting a slow pace so that Razor could keep up.
When they got to their herb den she squeezed her body into the tiny hole, poking her nose around until she found what she was looking for. Pulling some dried watercress into a pile, she added some dried elderberries as well. Bundling them up in a large bay leaf, she carried them back out to the larger boy. She set down to the leaf, pointing to the berries with her paw. "These are elderberries, they will help strengthen your immune system, but they also help with respiratory problems. These aren't dangerous no matter how many you eat, so I want you to try and take at least three berries every other day, okay? They could help make your lungs stronger." Moving her paw over to the dried green plant, she looked back up at Razor with a smile. "This is watercress. It helps with coughs mostly, but I have found that it also helps keep your strengths up. It will also aid your immune system, and aids in nutrition as well. You could use a little more meat on your bones." She said with a giggle, teasing him softly. Sitting down in front of the herbs, she gestured to Razor to go ahead and eat them. "You have to be careful with watercress though, if they aren't fresh they can harm your organs, and if its young you want to take a smaller dosage. Don't worry about mine though, I dried the leaves when they were at their best. This one I would suggest about a pawful every week or two." Her dark blue eyes lit up then, another idea coming to mind. "Have you ever seen lavender before? It helps keep you calm, and its easy enough to find and keep dried. I might be able to make you a little pouch that you can wear around you neck so that you can always smell it, and that way it can help keep you calm. What do you think about that?" She asked, head tilting to the side as she gazed at him with only adoration in her gaze.

She frowned when he stated that he would take whatever was given to him. While she loved having a patient who didn't fight her on everything, it could be quite dangerous to just take anything from someone claiming to be a healer. She knew that she was family and therefor should be trusted, but that wasn't always the case. It left her feeling concerned for him, and she just wanted to take him home with her and keep him there. She wasn't sure if he had anyone back home looking after him, but it would seem that there were a few things amiss with Razor. As he lowered his head she let out a small whine, stepping forward to nuzzle under his chin. "Head up, love. There is nothing to be ashamed of, herbs can be a scary and dangerous thing. That's why I want you to be careful, you can't just take everything that anyone gived you, okay? There are a lot of scary wolves out there, but I will always be here. And I would never ever give you anything that would make you more sick." Her voice was still sweet, but there was a touch of firmness in her voice. She didn't want anyone to take advantage of such a willing, eager to please boy. While she tried to see the bright side in everything, she was no fool. She knew that there was darkness about.
When he told her about not being able to be healed, her frown grew deeper yet. "Oh don't be silly. Someone may have just not known quite what to give you, Razor. There are a lot of herbs out there that have a different effect when mixed. I have been studying herbs for a long time but I know that there is still so much out there for me to learn. Don't lose hope, my boy. You are better than that, and above whatever ailment tries to claim your body. The herbs I told you about should help a lot, and I can give you some to take home if you like." She offered, stepping forward again to nuzzle into his shoulder. "You're a very strong boy, Razor. Don't let anyone else tell you otherwise." Amalia breathed into her fur, her tiny legs wrapping around his one front leg in a sort of hug.

When Razor spoke again Amalia felt her heart skip a beat, the air rushing out of her lungs. Coloured ears pressed flat against her skull, lower lip pouting as she tried to hold back her own tears. Slowly her head nodded up and down, even though she knew that he was looking down. "Yes dear, a very dark wolf. I'm not sure what your mother was thinking but... she took a warriors way out. She didn't jut sit there and let it slowly kill her, she took action. She found her strength even though we all thought that... she wasn't thinking straight. And you know what Razor, she died doing what she thought was right." Amalia said slowly, her voice choking slightly at the end. She will never understand the mind of a fighter, she was a healer through and through. But there could be no denying that Arian had always been a fighter, even if she didn't feel like it at times. She was stronger than Amalia thought she could never be.
When Razor said that he missed her, Ama could not help the few tears that spilled over. "Oh my love, oh I know. I know dear, I do too." she whispered, pressing her russet face into his chest. She breathed in his scent, slightly tangy from the mix of the herbs in the air. "We all miss her so much. I can't even imagine how it is for you kids..." She whispered, a soft sob leaving her body as her head shook back and forth. "I'm here for you though, okay? No matter what, I am here."

She listened to the boy draw in a deep breath before he hugged her closer to his chest, which didn't help stop the flow of tears that fell from her face. The closer he held her the more she sobbed, really letting herself cry for the first time in awhile. She always tried to be so strong, but sometimes it was just too much for her. After a few moments she shook her head in his creamy fur, inhaling sharply as she tried to calm herself. She was supposed to be looking after him, how had the tides turned? Forcing a smile on her face she pulled away far enough so that her russet head could look all the way up at him. He whispered something to him in a language that she had heard her sister speak a few times, and was thankful that he repeated himself in English. A true smile was on her maw at those words, and she stretched up on her tip toes to give him a kiss on the cheek. However, when he yawned she frowned in concern. It had been a long day for him, and he needed his rest. "Here, let me show you to a den. I know that Leo won't mind, you are family after all." She said, standing up and turning around to show the way. Looking over her shoulder with her kind blue eyes, her tiny rabbit tail gave a few legs. "I will stay with you as well, just to make sure that you are alright."
