*Set after Abaven meeting*

It had been long enough.

Bass had made his dear friend wait on him for so long, his heart refusing to let him back in. With a deep sigh he left his flooded territory, he had let another season slip passed without Allen at his side. He missed him dearly, and he had a feeling that he was finally able to forgive him. With the disappearance of Quelt and his family, as well as Motif leaving with her mate and kids, Bass had never felt more alone. Harmony was his only remaining sibling in the pack, and even his own kids had seemed to wander off. Bass felt like everyone who mattered most in his life were leaving him, and he couldn't take any more heart break. He needed his closest friend now more than ever.

He made his way towards the land that Allen had last been seen on, but was surprised to find the pack markers weak. Trotting into the territory only solidified his thoughts, they had moved. Confused, he started to wander aimlessly, trying to pick up the scent of anyone he knew. It took him awhile, but at last he found something that he thought he recognized. The mud covered man still hesitated at the borders, unsure if he was even in the right place. Taking a deep breath he tipped back his head and called for Allen. It was time to set things straight.

The gentleman was still not in the best sort of state. He was not necessarily depressed, but he had been unhappy. He had overcome the illness and depression that had ridden him the first time Bass had visited. In fact, were it not for his children and mate he probably wouldn’t have made it through it. They gave him hope, in this dark time, that they would all one day see Abaven again. That they would go home again. Allen kept hoping, praying that Bass would return. He wasn’t sure what more could be said, what more he could do to prove his loyalty.

So he waited in a pack where it seemed his absence wasn’t even questioned. The new leader, Marina, seemed very lenient for the time being. Allen had truthfully avoided her since she’d come to take the pack. He had respected Arian, respected Cypress to a degree... But he wasn’t so sure that he could trust this woman. He would let out a soft sigh, snuggled against Nona with his eyes closed.

Then, finally, he heard the call that he’d been waiting for. The call of his closest friend, and Allen wasted no time in pardoning himself from Nona and heading off to the gully’s border.

He did not wear a smile, but rather a solemn look as his dark eyes fell on his friend. He would swallow hard, not entirely sure what to expect. “Bass... I...” The aged male would shake his head. “Please Bass... ” He wasn’t sure what else he could say. How else he could plead with the pale man. His eyes would shine with tears that threatened to fall at any moment.

“I miss you...”

His friend wasted no time in coming to him, but it was not a happy reunion. Bass was glad that he had found the right place, he had been worried that Allen wasn't even here. With a whine he stepped forward, mindful of these new borders as he stretched to nuzzle at Allen. "Oh Allen..." he said softly, no much emotion in so few words. He needed to be close to him, but Bass was not about to cross these new borders. He didn't know the alpha, h ad not met with the new female who's scent was dominant here. So he was careful, not wishing to start a war. But when Allen said that he had missed him, he nearly broke down. Trying hard to keep it together he sucked in a deep breath, shifting on his mud covered legs. "I've been so foolish, Allen. So blind to everything and so quick to let my emotions rule me. Starling and Finch are missing, Quelt and Limno are gone, and Motif and Shai have left with Vail and Shaye in tow. Everyone is gone... and I need you." He admitted, shamefully hanging his head. Too long this had been going on for, for too long he had held his grudge. Just like when Rhythm left him. "Wren is never around anymore, Allen. I feel like I have lost everyone that matters most to me. So please, please come home." Bass whined, lifting his head to let his golden gaze meet Allen's.

Allen would step closer, closer to Bass as he returned the gentle nuzzle to his dear friend. He would cross over Borealis’ borders, craving that same closeness as his friend did. He would listen to Bass as he spoke, ears pinned against his skull as he heard of what had happened. Starling and Finch were missing. Quelt and Limno were gone. Motif, Shai, and their daughters had gone as well... Allen felt his heart give a deep pang at Bass’ words. He needed him. Well Allen needed Bass too. He had needed him for so long. Even Wren it seemed had gone, and Allen would feel emotion stir in his gut.

He would find a smile, even with all the bad news. The calico gentleman would wrap his neck around Bass’ own in a tight embrace. “I was beginning to wonder if you could ever forgive me...” He whispered, the tears starting to run down his face. But they were no longer tears of sadness, but of joy.

“Of course I’ll come home... And I’m never leaving again. You can count on it.” He knew that it was no question that Nona and the kids were welcome back as well. They were a family unit... Not complete without each other.

”Thank you.” Allen would pull back, looking into his friend’s golden hues. “Shall I call for the alphess?" He was smiling widely now, unable to contain his excitement.

Finally, Allen stepped forward and allowed him to hold him. Bass greedily took in his scent, tainted with the strange touch of this new pack. This wasn't how his friend was supposed to smell, he was supposed to smell just like Abaven. His home. Something that he had so foolishly blocked from him, kept him away because of a grudge. Allen wasn't getting any younger, and Bass couldn't even imagine ever losing him over this. He almost had. For so long he had made this man wait, but he did just that. Waiting. That is how he knew that he was a true friend, even after everything he still wanted to come home. That was an undying friendship, something that Bass had been taking for granted.

Allen's words made him choke up as well, and he closed his eyes to fight back the dampness that was starting to form. He clung to the older man with desperation, not wanting to let him go. "Good, because I don't think I could take losing you again." He whispered. When Allen asked if he should call for the alpha he nodded, eyes opening as they broke apart. He had forgotten about that, he had to get Allen and his family released before he could just take them home. Bass was just far too excited to get him home. "I've changed a few things up, but we can talk about that later."

Allen felt much the same way as his friend did. There would be no more losing each other over foolish, petty things. Things were, would always, get better. Through thick and thin the two brutes would stand side by side, as they were meant to from the beginning. Theirs was a friendship that withstood the strongest test; time. They would not be broken again. Now there was but a small challenge, a small roadblock in their way that kept true happiness from settling over them. Allen knew, once they had spoken with the Borealis Spirit things would be easier.

Allen was curious to know what changes had come over Abaven, but he was certain that things were changed for the better. Bass was a smart wolf, and he wouldn’t adjust things in the pack unless it better suited the pack as a whole. Knowing he wouldn’t be filled in until later the aging gentleman would tilt his head back, calling for Marina. He saw no reason why the woman would give him and his family trouble in letting them go, but at the same time he couldn’t be one hundred percent sure. Regardless of what happened though the calico male knew that Bass would be by his side one hundred percent.

Marina had been taking some time to rest, just a short catnap, when she heard Allen’s call. It was strange... The man had lingered within Borealis with his family and yet showed no signs of wanting to be active within the pack. It had been concerning, but for the time being Marina had allowed it to go on. Cypress had explained that the man had been adjusting to things rather heavily since joining under his wife’s care. If it weren’t for the silver and gray male Marina might have stepped in by now to say something, but it seemed all things had their own time to be worked out.

She would find the calico elder and a pale male standing at the borders to Borealis. Her brow would raise, flicking from Allen to the male who smelled strongly of another pack. His posture too said something about his position there, and Marina would try her best to offer a small smile to both gentleman before taking a seat.

“I wasn’t expecting you to have company, Allen. Ahh yes, manners. I’m Marina Agatsuma, the Spirit or secondary of this pack. You are?” She was sure that after introductions were made that they could get down to business.

Curiousity - and of course, his training. It wasn't long before he showed up, drawn by the call for his mother. He was shadowing her in her alpha duties, and it was no different for an official call. Eyes would sweep over the gathering - Allen, a white male, and his mother. He'd offer a smile to both. "Hello, Allen," he'd greet softly, sitting next to his mother as before switching his gaze to the pale man. "I'm Ren Agatsuma," he introduced himself politely, with another dip of his head. "I'm the Polaris, the heir, of Borealis." The prince would explain his presence easily, a gentle smile still on his maw.
