Colorful leaves cascaded to the ground, falling from trees in the chilly autumn air. Slowly they were coating the ground, covering were the soft summer grass used to thrive. Mid-day brought with it, mildly warm temperatures, and the sun cast its amber glow. Light filtered into the trees, causing shadows to dance and weave with every breeze. She walked along the trees, occasionally veering from the path to bask in the shadows, her eyes gazing around unfocusedly. These lands were different than the ones that she had grown up in, strange in some ways, yet in some ways the same.
She had wandered for a while, since she had come to these lands. Exploring here and there, meandering through weeds, and brambles. Multiple colors streaked her fur, the colors were a mix of white, tan, black, and gray. Her paws were tipped with white, but now muddied by the dampened ground. The thickness of the trees were a welcome wind-break, and she padded deeper into its welcoming expanse. Another breeze gently billowed through the trees, and carried with it a scent of another wolf. Her head lifted, as she took in a deep breath, and turned to face the scent of this newcomer.

The alligator hadn't stood quite as good of a chance as it thought.
Seraph had been quietly exploring the swamp lands looking for an easy kill for dinner. Places like this were always riddled with creatures, but he hadn't considered that some might not enjoy a wolf coming in and taking their food. In hindsight, fishing probably wasn't his best option here. As soon as he'd stuck his paw in for one, the gator showed up. It was like it had been watching, waiting for him to slip up. Damned thing.
That was the alligator's only shot at a big meal, and it failed miserably. Seraph now focused his green eyes on the bleeding creature before him. Though it was clearly dying it continued to snap its jaws at him. A wide grin spread across his maw as he sat back on his haunches and waited for death to overcome the creature before him. He licked at the gash that ran down the leg and paw he had stuck in the water. If the gator had been a second faster, that leg wouldn't be there anymore. He stretched to loosen the limb back up, and watched the alligator's final moments. Thankfully this one was young and small. Seraph took the tail up in his jowls and dragged the thing along behind him. He was sure there must be some way to eat it, he'd just have to get through the skin first.
Distracted by his kill, Seraph didn't notice the scent of the wolf he was approaching until it was too late. His eyes narrowed in frustration as he spotted the multi-colored female ahead of him. Great, just what he hadn't wanted. He wasn't in the mood for talking, and he certainly wasn't in the mood to share his food. He stood there deciding whether to just turn and walk away or to stop where he was and ignore her, and decided he would move forward instead. He wasn't about to change plans because another wolf got in the way. Hopefully he could walk by without her looking for his attention.

She wasn?t particularly fond of company. She accepted wolfs when they ran into her, but she rarely sought out conversation. The smell of blood had attracted her attention, and a delirious smile crept over her maw slowly as she took in the wolf and its kill. A wild cackle escaped her jaws, her mouth parting to reveal her sharp and neat teeth. Her eyes looked at the other wolf in an unfocused manner, and as her laughs flame died in her chest, she looked away from the wolf and at the sky to speak.
?Little birdies weep blood, too bad birdies. Dead. Fantastically dead.? Her words were gibberish of course, and would most like be confusing the other wolf but that mattered little too her. She wasn?t intent on really talking to him anyways. Swaying on her paws, she continued her path, that carried her straight towards the other wolf.
?Jezzy feels hungry.? She said as she eyed the animal that the wolf was carried. Certainly that didn?t look appetizing. She couldn?t remember how long ago that she had ate, and only that fresh scent of blood reminded her of the need to eat. Certainly, she had grown use to Valkan feeding her and making sure she was okay. She just did not know how to function in these lands alone.

His intentions of walking by unacknowledged were thwarted. First, the laughter and the strange garbled words that came out of the female's mouth stopped him dead in his tracks and cause him to turn his narrow gaze on her. What? Confusion took over almost immediately. Clearly, this wolf was not completely sane. Second, she approached him. There was definitely no avoiding her now.
Seraph wasn't extremely surprised at her hunger. Her mental state made him feel as though she may not be able to fend for herself well. She probably had someone to take care of her at some time in the past, and had lost that lifeline recently. That was just his guess though. What did surprise him was that she was expressing interest in his kill. He intended to eat it, but he wasn't all that excited about it. The gator looked atrocious.
His maw loosed and released the alligator, letting it fall to the ground. Something about this female reminded him of a pup - her apparent helplessness perhaps? A fatherly type of instinct kicked in and he decided maybe it was a good idea to help her out. Jezzy, is that your name? You're more than welcome to eat this, if you can figure out how to get through the skin. He had been pondering how he would do it anyway, maybe she knew. My name is Seraph.
