This I swear by the stars
Stars in your multitudes, scarce to be counted, filling the darkness with order and light. You are the sentinels, silent and sure, keeping watch in the night. You know your place in the sky, you hold your course and your aim. And each in your season, returns and returns, and is always the same. And if you fall as Lucifer fell, you fall in flame

As the sun slowly faded into the horizon, the purple and black female slowly slipped out of her den. She sat at the mouth of the cave, looking up quickly as she waited for the first star to appear. As soon as she could see the first pin pricks of light, she smiled and made her way up to her cliff. Her steps were silent, movement hasty as she rushed up to the very tip of her viewing platform. Orange eyes went skyward once more, a soft sigh leaving her maw as she settled on her rump. This is why she enjoyed summer so much, there were no clouds to block her view of the stars. This is where she was in utter peace, underneath the vast expansion of the stars. Her purple marked tail curled around her, tip resting on her paws as she just gazed up at them. There was still a touch of light on the horizon, meaning she couldn't fully make out the constellations just yet. So she waited patiently for them to show up, wondering which ones she would observe tonight.

Voltage Elementas

Voltage would yawn slowly, his eyes barely closed as he laid infront of his den. He had been busy, his children kept him busy, and the cleanup had been an exhausting venture. But he always bounced back, so quickly, so fluidly, that it was natural for him to almost blink awake the moment he saw the gentle lights glitter in the sky. He had been waiting for those, and with a gentle tilt of his head he watched as his star loving sister made her way up to her viewing cliffs. Since she had returned they hadn't spent near enough time together, and Voltage almost felt like he had to meet and get to know his sister all over again. But he had been busy, he had always been busy. So slowly he rose to his paws, tip toeing away from his den so he wouldnt wake his children and his wife, slipping along the beach like a soundless streak of lightning. He moved slowly passed Glacier's den, hoping not to rouse his sleepless niece, before he turned to slip into the den that lead up to the cliffs.

He had a tradition to upkeep, which he would, as he tiptoed along the tunnel and slowly rose from the hole, making sure his sister wouldn't see him. It was Caeli that he always practiced his sneaking skills on, and now it helped him catch Ray in the act when she was in trouble. So he had to make sure it was absolutely perfect right? Yes, yes he did. With a slow smirk he stepped up behind her before suddenly dropping his muzzle onto the top of her head and looking out at the sky. "Have you made your wish yet?" He asked with a smirk, hoping he had been successful in sneaking up on her.

When the last of the light faded and the sky was as clear as it could be, she looked up to the North star and quickly closed her eyes. But for the first time in her entire lifetime, she couldn't think of anything to wish for. She felt like at last her life was in order, so she spent her wish on her family. She wished that Ray would open her eyes, realize that soon, her scheming could really hurt someone. When she opened her eyes, her ears flickered. It didn't take her long to realize that Voltage was behind her, trying to sneak up on her again was he? She smirked, she was far more observant than she used to be. But she didn't want to crush his dreams of being an expert stalker, so she sat still. His scent wasn't hard to pull away from the smell of the sea, it was a dead giveaway. So when his head rested on top of hers, her ears batted backwards to try and flick against his nose. "You know brother, you should try to cover your scent if you really want to sneak up on me. Or at least check the wind," she said slowly. Chuckling softly, she didn't take her gaze off of the pinpricks of light above her. "And I did make my wish, but I can't tell you otherwise it won't come true." Words said, she fell silent, tilting her head to the side to look up at Volt out of the corner of her eye. A smirk was offered to him, before he once more looked up. Had he made his wish already? Caeli wondered what he wished for when she was away, and if that wish ever came true.

Voltage Elementas

Voltage outright pouted when he didn't get a jump or a jolt. Instead, he got an ear to his nose and he pulled back with a huff. At the comment of a scent he slowly moved to her side and eyed her slowly. "I guess I'm just used to you being up in the sky so much that you wouldn't notice my scent." He said with a smirk then, sitting beside her before he looked up at the stars. He slowly traced pictures he invented out of the faded lights, trying to find the stories hidden within the language of the stars. He wasn't as well versed as Caeli, infact most of his was pretty much made up. He didn't know the stories of the crab or the warrior's belt. He didn't know much about the stars, but his eyes could trace images of his imagination out of the speckled heavens, and he felt happy with that. He didn't need to know the stories of others, he lived in his own. When she spoke again, he tilted his head to her and slowly looked back at her, a warm smile on his face. "I always wish on the first star I see." He said with a small smile. He always wished for the same thing, ever since the very first day. The stars were Caeli's, and so, too, were his wishes. And they slowly came true, one by one. "I'm proud of you, sister." He said softly, the words sudden but warm, as he lifted his gaze back to the heavens. A soft sigh was on his tongue as he stared up at the stars, feeling at peace in the night for once. He barely slept, it was common knowledge, and when he did sleep it was restless. But he would give up all the hours of restful sleep just to sit beneath the stars with his sister and enjoy her warmth and her presence and know he hadn't lost her. "Tell me a story?" He said softly, looking at her then with the stars in his eyes and a warm smile on his lips. He had missed her, so dearly.

Caeli smirked when he made note of her usually being far too absorbed to be aware of what was around her, turning her head to follow his movements. "Truth be told, I was waiting for you," she admitted. It had been a tradition of theirs, and she had missed it when she had been away. She longed for her brothers warmth again, and to right all the wrongs. She felt like that had been a whole different her before, like she really had returned a different wolf. But some things never changed. She leaned against him, letting out a sigh as she traced the patterns in the sky. Ah, so it would seem that he never forgot about wishing, either. She smiled, rubbing her head against his shoulder. Caeli longed to ask what he had been wishing for, but she bit her tongue. She refused to tell her own, so it would be unfair for her to ask of his. Ears flickered when he spoke next, a heat flooding to her cheeks. Lifting her head from him, she blinked up at him. The reflection of starlight shone in her gaze, suddenly misted with his words. She quickly looked away, gazing back up at the stars. She didn't want him to see her cry, over something so simple. But really, she felt like she had been longing for him to hear that. She didn't know what to say back to him, so Caeli stayed silent. It wasn't until he asked for a story that she let out a soft giggle, breaking her silent standing. She always loved to tell a good story about the constellations above her. She easily found the big dipper, and with her orange eyes she traced a line through the bowl of the dipper, the exact opposite of where the handle was. From there she easily found the constellation of Gemini, that was Voltage's astrological sign, was it not? She hummed, and decided that she would go with that one. She traced the pattern with her nose, hoping that Voltage would follow her movements. "This is the Gemini constellation, also referred to as the twins. The twins names were Castor and Pollux, sons of the sky god, Zeus. They were inseparable, just like you and Glace," she said softly, peeking down at him for a moment. Offering him a smile, she moved on. "You see the boy's mother was a mortal, and their father an immortal. Their kids were a mix of the base and the divine, Castor was born a mortal and Pollux as an immortal. When Castor was slain in battle, Pollux was inconsolable in grief, begging Zeus to relieve him of the bonds of immortality. Pollux chose death, so that he could join his brother Castor in the great beyond. To this day, Pollux and Castor stand reunited in the heavens, a tribute to the redemptive power of brotherly love." Falling silent after her tale, she kept tracing the shape of the twins in the sky.

Voltage Elementas

Voltage couldn't help the warm smile that crept along his cheeks at the expression on her face. He couldn't help but feel happy that she seemed so affected by his pride in her. But he wouldn't bring it more to light than it was, no. He saw it, saw the way her eyes had sparkled in her happy way. He knew her well, even if they were seperated by years and he had only met her the day they had gone to bring the third litter home. But still, they were so close, as close as he could be with his siblings. He seemed to be a different Voltage with each of them, but each version of him was true and real and the best Voltage he could be. It was all them that made him live and thrive and be the best he could be, and with her it was his more soft and gentle side that came out. He lazed around with her, telling stories and staring up at the sky, looking at stars that had been there long before them, and would be there long after them aswell. He breathed in a deep breath as she looked around the sky for tonights story, his eyes sliding sidelong to watch her as she read the skies. When she pointed to an image in the stars, he shifted to press his shoulder against her and try to follow her line of sight. Perhaps he wasn't the best at reading the stars, nowhere near Caeli's level, not even close, so he couldn't quite see what she saw, but that wasn't the point. He didn't need to see them to feel the way he did, laying beside her and trying to paint pictures out of the little specks of light, listening to stories that inspired or were inspired from them. He let out a slow breath, feeling quietly giddy as she began to speak. He missed her stories, missed listening to her, missed these nights with every beat of his heart. He felt swept away as she spoke, telling her tale of two brothers, and he couldn't help but smile at the similarities. She, too, pointed that out, stating that it was just like him and Glace and he couldn't help but laugh before his gaze fell to her, watching so avidly as she spoke. He memorized every expression, every word, watched the way the stars danced in her eyes, in a way he had only ever seen with her. He had missed her. "So which one am I?" He said softly, voice gentle so as not to break the spell he was under, his head tilted slightly. "The mortal Castor, struck down in battle, or the immortal Pollux who followed his brother into death." He whispered softly, wondering where he stood in her story, and in her eyes. He never really tried to understand his position in their family, or what he meant in their eyes. But he couldn't help but wonder, if he and Glacier were placed in her story, which one he would be and if it even mattered at all.

She had fallen silent after her story, and nearly jolted at Voltage's words. She had been in a trance of sorts, staring up at the constellation. Blinking her orange eyes, seeming to come more into herself, she turned to her brother and traces his features instead. Which one was he? That she had to think on, placing both of them in front of her. There was no doubt that either would lay down their lives for the other, or seek to be with him after death. Either of them would be fast to leap into action if a battle did arise. She was silent for quite awhile, until it finally came to her. "I think that you are Pollux, the immortal. You with your energy, something that never dies. No matter what the storm brings, energy will always be flowing and moving. Even now the twins still live on, because of Pollux's energy, his sacrifice brought Caster into an immortal body as well," she said slowly, chewing over each word as it left her mouth. Her eyes had glazed over again, her mind elsewhere from on the cliff. "Pollux didn't truly die, he just shifted his energy. His flow is now within those stars, him and his brother. Just as you will be brother, when that fateful day comes. Your energy will, and has, kept us alive." Caeli's head slowly moved back up to the stars, her eyes easily finding the Twins above them. "You're the pull of our elements, immortalizing all of us in what makes us us," she whispered, not realizing that the words came out somewhat mixed up. What she wanted to say got stuck between her head and her mouth, but there was no doubt that Voltage would get the jist of what she had meant.
