Walk | Talk | Think

Perhaps she was crazy for leaving the Glaciem's boundaries in search of something she had only heard about. Perhaps she was asking to be attacked by taking the trek all on her own without anyone to protect her. Even she questioned why she had to do this, and now, without anyone else to go along with her. It wasn't as if she had any reason whatsoever to see the Cathedral Point; it held no significance to her. And honestly she should have waited. She had friends amongst her pack mates who would have been willing to go along had she only but asked. Practically anyone might have been willing to join her the Glaciem were such a friendly bunch. It was as if they knew nothing about the term "stranger" when it came to their band.

But as much as she even chided herself, Mercianne was quite enjoying the trip. Heavy winter clouds covered the sky and rained down a gentle snow, adding to the thick layer that already covered the ground any surface that it had managed to cling to. Small bits of it even settled amid the black, white, and cream strands of her own fur, melting after a short stay there due to her body heat. It was an enjoyable winter's day, and she just hadn't been able to keep herself confined to the pack's territory.

Already she could see the first spires of ice, smooth and blue and curious in their placement. The winds, customary in this area, picked up with gentle force, but it didn't deter her. Her timid smile was fixed there upon her face as her dark brown eyes took in the shapes of the ice that lay ahead, an eagerness entering her steps. Merci continued forward happily, content, appearing quite at ease and unaware that anyone else might also be within the same vicinity.

Calder hadn't always been much of the 'traveling' type and often chose to stay put rather than move around too much. Often the wolf settled in a single spot for elongated periods of time and simply attacked anyone that got to close but recently the brute found something calming in the act of travel. Perhaps it was the feel of the wind through his fur when he ran or the thrill of discovering so many new places to den in..., perhaps it was the relief not having to get attached to one place. Attachment was something Calder could no longer deal with.

Heavy pink paw pads pressed down into the deep blanket of snow, their wide imprints staining the ground as the cream wolf walked on. Calder's pair of crazed brown optics were drawn in by the beauty of this area's ivory colors. For as far as he could see all was white and pure, high up in the sky snow-heavy clouds rumbled and spewed the icy flakes that now clung to Calder's fluffed coat. He felt completely at peace in this place and rather enjoyed the frozen sting of the cold. He didn't mind the numbing sensations as he trudged on and tried his best to ignore the breezes that began to blow. He was enjoying his time here and almost smiled to himself when the grand display of the icy spires came into view.

As did the image of a cream colored wolf.

Almost instantly a rush of cold forced itself on top of Calder. All of the icy temperatures that Calder had been pushing away attacked him. A numbing sensation danced along Calder's body and sent him shivering as he crouched to the ground in suspicious curiosity. At first he saw this wolf as nothing but a stranger and stayed quiet as he crept forward, hoping not to be seen, but then something clicked.

Aurelia? Aurelia? Isn't that you? he uttered, rising from his crouch. Calder fell back into his walking motion, beginning to close the space between Mercianne and himself. Something in his gaze was pained as he watched her though, as if half of his brain knew his sister was dead but the other half was convinced otherwise.

Walk | Talk | Think

The noise of the wind in her ears hid any sound of approaching steps, and still convinced that she was alone Mercianne had no inclination to look around as if someone might suddenly appear. Her dark eyes were focused ahead, set upon the icy spires that she traveled toward, and her steps were unwavering in their direction. She was going to visit Cathedral Point and there was nothing around her to distract from her purpose.

Except for a sudden voice.

Initially it made her spook. Still thinking herself alone, she hadn't anticipated the sound and so it caught her off guard, her body tensing in a quick jump before she crouched slightly and turned her head to peer behind her. Her wide brown eyes searched for only a moment before they spotted the creamy white figure moving over the smooth, snowy tundra. It was no one she recognized, no one she could recall having met before or even seen in passing amongst her pack members, but he had seemed to call her by name. Only it hadn't been her name. Aurelia? she wondered, her ears settling themselves back against her skull in a mixture of worry and confusion.

"I'm sorry?" she questioned gently, perplexedly, thinking he might have mistaken her for someone else but waiting as he came closer and wondering if he might not realize his mix up on his own as he neared.
