The old male had been...not so active lately. He didn't know if it was his age catching up, or if he was exhausted from the lack of sleep. The last few weeks had been torment, nightmares of losing his sister, mate, and child haunting him night after night. Perhaps it was time to go and try to clear his mind. Leaving abaven territory in the middle of the night perhaps wasn't the smartest idea, but the silence around him was welcomed. Hansel took off to a nearby territory, not too far from his pack. Close enough to call for help if he needed it. Though he doubted he would have to, he was capable of handling himself.

Upon approaching the waterfall, Hansel leapt from stone to stone, the waters touch sprinkling his pelt with droplets as he made a short ascent up the rocks. Shivering slightly from the cold water, he settled down and let his paws dangle over the edge as he stared at his shifting reflection.

He was not alone that night, not as those small paws quickly lead the wraith through the steep forest, alas she wasn't in a hurry. Not as that mind was else where as that gaze peered around, searching for a proper place to bed for the night Something, she was used to for traveling on her own day after day, night after night was a typical thing for the aging women. To say the least, Abelinda was very much up there, far too much so. The wraith didn't like it, but it was the way of life.

The scent or presence went unnoticed, for once. Her glacial gave shifting as it settled upon a water fall, failing to notice the other there. Coming to a stop before the water, did she bend down to grab a quick drink. Once her thirst was satisfied did the wraith pick a dry spot near the water to lay down, curling up, did those eyes close finally. Those senses on alert as always, as the serpent slowly drifted off to sleep. Unaware of the company that she had.

“And in the dark, I can hear your heart beat.”

Ice blue eyes looked up, the faintest movement catching his attention for but a moment. Was he seeing things? Had he become that old that he was going senile? Narrowing his eyes, he strained his vision as he tried to peer through the darkness, the only light cast by the moon reflecting on the waters surface. He scented the air, but the smell of water and moss was stronger. He debated whether or not he should investigate, but would it be wise? Well, why not? There was nothing out there that scared him. He had nothing to lose, he'd already lost everything.

Picking himself up from the rock, the aged male bounded slowly back to the banks, senses on alert as the moon made his form look ghostly in its light. He didn't have to go far before a small figure caught his attention, the moon cast it's shadow upon the silver form. Upon seeing her, the male froze. "Alice?" No. It couldn't be. She was dead. Was he dreaming? Had he gone so far off the deep end that he was seeing things? Without realizing it, a low growl rumbled in his throat. Hackles raising as he tensed up.

The brief shuffle of a form rising was what caused those ears to shift towards the source, believing it to be nothing more then a bird or a night time animal. Thus, she paid it no mind. Not at all hearing him bounding from rock to rock in order to approach her. That form was still, as the serpent was slowly drifting further into that sleep, his voice was what stopped it and in turn caused that head to lift and turn towards him. That glacial gaze blinking as she looked over the male; most of all, who was Alice?

“Afraid you're mistaken my dear.” That head titled slightly to the right, even with his more aggressive stance, did the serpentine women remained as she was. “But, who is this Alice you speak of?” Prying at best, but it was mere curiosity as she awaited his answer. If he decided to attack her, there was little she could do to stop the male, but to wait and see.

The voice was not hers. This voice...it wasn't what he remembered. My dear... Those were words that she used to tell him before...he stepped back a pace, hackles slightly stiff but his growl had ceased. No. It wasn't her. And yet, his eyes seemed to play tricks on him. She looked so similar to her...but as soon as she asked who Alice was, he knew he had made a mistake. His ears pinned, his internal guard flying up and steeling himself. "My mate...before she passed away..."

He felt the quick and sharp pang in his heart for a moment, the memory too painful. He dismissed it as fast as he could, cold gaze looking slightly off to the side as he spoke again. "You look like her...I'm sorry for disturbing you." His heart hammered in his chest as the memory threatened to resurface. "That was stupid of me." He growled again, how could he have been so stupid to think she was here?

The wraith listened, although not even half asleep did the women peer at the aging man. He was clearly just as old, if not older then her. It was hard to say, but the dame made no assumptions as of yet. Simply that icy gaze remained upon him, noting the clear hurt that seemed to plague him to no end, over losing this Alice - a mate she could only assume. But with that out of the way, she let the subject drop for now, later it would be picked up again perhaps.

“You didn't disturb me.” A simple truth, as those ears focused on him partly, but more so her surroundings. “For hoping she was here, no, you are not.” Perhaps her way of trying to comfort him, but it was hard to tell with the wraith. Her ways were her own and even more mysterious then had half-brother Isar.
