It was high time she had a one on one training session with Solveiga. With Zuriel leaving soon to journey and learn, that left Solveiga and Kavdaya as the only healers for a while, unless some new healers came into the picture. She had already gone to the borders of the Pack, and she stopped, tilting her head up to call for the young woman, a bundle of deer hide at her paws. Today was to be a gathering lesson in the Moor. Despite her season being in full swing, she tended to keep a level head on her shoulders. Hopefully, Solveiga would be the same way; if she had any potential to move up in rank, she’d need that level head for emergencies. What was new, was that Kav felt more awareness of the time. While she knew it was possible to have children at an old age, she still felt as though the window was closing. And she had very few choices. Okay, she had one possibility. Creed Ancora. He was good, kind, and loyal. And she hadn’t smelled any other women on his fur in the times she’d been around him. He liked kids, clearly. But… she shook her head, forcing the thoughts aside as she waited for her fellow healer to arrive. Right now wasn't a time for her season to get her thinking about possible mates. The seasons had finally changed, and the mild winter meant an early and more vibrant blooming of all the lovely flowers. And, more importantly, herbs. Solveiga was just leaving her little alcove to stretch her legs and think about collecting some of the fresh herbs for her stock when, right on cue, she was called by the master healer herself. She flicked her ears and smiled a bit as she broke into a lope. Spring meant more than just blooming flowers and new herbs to collect, however, and she had noticed that the same went for Kavdaya. Hopefully being around the older, wiser woman would make her feel better about it. Because right now, the little woman just felt awkward and uncomfortable. She knew what it all meant, and knew what could relieve the unsettled feeling inside her. But that was all foreign territory which she did not intend to cross without plenty of premeditation. With all thoughts of birds and bees pushed aside, Solveiga found and approached the older woman. "Good morning," she said pleasantly, though her smile belied the discomfort she was experiencing. Her head wasn't fuzzy, not really. She knew some females got that way. No, she just felt fidgety, like she had a splinter in her paw that needed removed. But that splinter was going to have to stay there all season, and she was going to have to get used to it. She looked at the deer hide which lay at the feet of the master healer. "Am I going on an herb hunt with you today?" she asked, genuinely excited by the idea. Solveiga loved to learn, and who better to learn from than the master? Kavdaya grinned as Solveiga’s small form came into sight. Her thickly furred tail waved cheerily in greeting, as she answered easily, “Good morning, Solveiga.” She smiled as Solveiga asked if they were going herb hunting, nodding. “I’ve noticed that some of the older store are slightly moldy, so we need plants for colds, bleeding, and birthing.” She grinned and lowered her head, picking up the deer hide and tossing it over her back with a practiced flick of her head. “Shall we?” She offered jauntily as she stepped over the border into the Moore. She led the way down a path often used, before she took a turn onto a nearly invisible rabbit trail, paws falling in silence as her eyes sought the plants she needed. “Tell me, what plants do you know that are helpful to a mother throughout her pregnancy, and during her birthing- Ah, here’s a bit of Yarrow.” She paused, nosing through the stand of plants and tipping her head to nip at the bases of a few stems, keeping her movements slow to allow her pupil to see the process. Some of the herbs Kavdaya kept in her stock had gotten moldy, which made sense considering the mild winter they had experienced around here. Solveiga listened closely as the kinds of herbs they needed were described. Colds, bleeding, and birthing. Marigold would be easy enough to find, and it would help with the sore throats brought on by most colds. As far as birthing, Solveiga truthfully had no idea what to look for. She would need to ask. But bleeding meant they would need "...yarrow." Kavdaya said, as if completing her thoughts. Solveiga nodded a bit and watched carefully as Kavdaya harvested the plants, snipping the stems with smooth and practiced movements. "Well," the girl began, trying to formulate an answer for her teacher. "I know of some herbs that help with general pain," Solveiga replied softly. "Cannabis, for example, and meadowsweet. But I don't know the name of the herb used for the pain of childbirth." She wished she did. But that was why she was a student and Kavdaya was a teacher. So Solveiga stayed alert, ready to absorb all the knowledge she could. "Motherwort stimulates contractions, though, right?" Definitely a good herb to have in stock, and fortunately it could be easily found in the Vericona Plains. Solveiga, admittedly, had also used a bit of motherwort on herself during this past season.
