Spring had consumed the world. It had swallowed them whole and it had plants for guts. Seriously, there were more plants here than Peregrine had ever thought possible. The East was as lush a realm as she had ever seen, and all at once she wanted to both scour every inch and flee to see what the rest of the continent held for her now that the season had turned. Unfortunately, it didn't seem as if she would be doing either any time soon.

She was hungry. Like 'Wow' hungry. Like 'Oh no' hungry, and she did not like to be that way. Usually she could trade for her food but between how commerce starved this realm remained, even after her staunchest efforts, and her general lack of success last season, she had nothing to offer. Her stomach growled like she had consumed a baby bear whole. It felt like it was beating up the rest of her guts, too, which was definitely worse.

She'd come across a beautiful swath of sand but the shore held little of value, clear of any noteworthy debris. She'd made her way north along the shore and found a much less eroded section of shore.  Currently she was sat at the edge of a small pool worn into a slab of bedrock beach. She stared into the water, glared really, at the pair of fish that swam there. Swam there mocking her with their agility and seeming omnipotence. She curled a lip, glaring indeed, because they had been evading her for the better part of a half hour. Her fur was damp and tasted of salt and the tide was rising. Soon the bastards would be free, and she would remain hungry. Tsiry, scouting about farther up the beach, was doing her best not to laugh.

This land was quite pretty. He was glad he wandered this way; the lush greenery was a sight to behold, and honestly... it made him a bit homesick for back home... home, where he'd never again be able to venture. As a member of the Scarlatti family, and member of the i Frotelli Rossi, he would be targeted and killed within weeks, if not days. No, there would be no returning home for him.

Sighing softly, his head bowed. It was not often he thought of his family, both blood and cosca, but when it did... the actions of Enrico hit him hard, and it hurt all over again. He was no stranger to murder, nor death, but still the images of his family laying dead and dying was one he'd never forget. It made him burn with a desire to destroy that cosca, and even more so to figure out why Enrico did what he did. Another part of him wished for the impossible - that he could rewind time and undo what happened there.

Commotion thankfully distracted him from his depressing thoughts, and Vittore's head rose to regard the source of the sound. A woman sat there, not far from him, staring into a pool of water. Curiosity piqued him, and he approached rather loudly, giving the woman a notification to his presence. "Posso aiutarti?" He didn't expect her to know Italian - who did in this forsaken land? - but his body language and tone ought to be enough to explain his intentions.

Finding out she had company was enough to make her heart skip a beat. Peregrine's head flew up, and upon finding a dark male waiting there and staring at her with expecting eyes, well... Let's just say it was enough to fluster her. She spent a long moment trying to decipher what he'd said before realizing it had been spoken in an entirely different language. Fucking perfect. Her ears flattened in a mix of chagrin and surprise, and she recoiled. She let out an always elegant, "Err... What?" At the very least he didn't seem like he was going to get aggressive with her, but there was no accounting for psychopaths! She tossed a glance farther up the beach to where Tsiry had stopped her trek to give the stranger "The Eye." Another wave pushed up the beach ever closer with the rising tide. Time was failing them, and she'd just about resigned herself to being hungry. This was going to be impossible!

Oh, oops. She surprised her. He smiled sheepishly at her, his ears lowering as his body dipped slightly, offering a silent apology. He wasn't surprised by her lack of understanding, but her reaction was certainly amusing. He also understood her; the words she used were, well, common, and this time his smile was genuine. "Sorry," he apologized verbally, his accent strong and thick on the singular word that he had picked up. Ahh, what was the word for help? "I... assistere," he tried out. It was a mash of the common language and Italian, but he hoped it was enough to be understood. To accentuate his point, he gestured at the fish, which would soon be gone, if they weren't caught soon.

Despite their apparent language barrier, Peregrine could still tell that this man was better prepared for this confrontation than she was, what with his 'manners' and 'dignity.' He even attempted to use her known language while she remained utterly ignorant of his. Great! Tsiry had skittered back their way, opting to watch silently from an outcrop of worn beach stone. Peregrine gave her a dry glare, to which Tsiry replied with a brilliant grin. She knew how conscious Peregrine was about her hunting ability. Turning back to the stranger she awkwardly cleared her throat. "Er... sure. Do you speak... this?" She had no idea what her language would be called in his tongue, only that it had been common almost everywhere she'd been. This stranger must really not be from around here! "You've got nooo idea what you're getting yourself into here, buddy," she warned him, whether he'd understand her or not.

She seemed a bit flustered, at least in his eyes, and he eyed her with open curiosity. Was she? Or was that him simply reading her wrong? Either way, he was grateful when she responded, and slow enough that he... sort of understood. He got what she emant; those were common words he picked up. Firmly, he shook his head. "No Common," he reiterated with a gentle sigh, once again wishing that he knew the language. This not-understand was getting more than mildly annoying. Then she spoke again, and he eyed her. Her tone was full of warning, but also a sort of... humor? Not as in that there was danger, but... he didn't really know. He shrugged in response, instead turning the the fish.

He eyed the puddle, and walked widely around it until he settled on a point where his shadow did not fall over the water, and he sat close to the edge. The fish were anxious, dying to get free, and were absolutely unaware of his presence. With a grin, he lifted his paw, aiming for a point a few inches ahead of the fish... and slammed his paw down, grinning as he felt wriggling. Quickly, he smoothly ducked his muzzle in, grasping at the delicate tail of the fish before tossing it at Pere, still wriggling and alive. He nodded down at it, before turning his attention to the pool. The last fish was freaking out now; he'd have to wait a minute or two before trying to grab it again. He glanced at the tide, then; did he have enough time? Hopefully so.
