It'd been a little while since the meeting and Faite was ready to get started on her young brother's fight training. He was still a pup so obviously there wouldn't be any sparring, but she certainly was happy to teach him any moves she could. She could always think of some things that could relate to hunting so that would kill two birds with one stone. With Varda being demoted and almost absent as of late the rest of the pack would have to pick up the slack and that included training the young ones. There were only three of them though and many adults so that did make things rather easy.

Faite had set out in the morning to find a rather sparse clearing to do their training at. She wanted Laisren to have as little distractions as possible and leave little room for error with the environment. With less things for his gangling body to stumble over it'd be easier for both of them so he would be more keen on learning from her instead of focusing on his paws. She could still remember what it was like to be a pup and if she was lucky he would be the perfect pupil.

She'd finally cleared away any large sticks and stones and had even rolled in some patches of longer grass to flatten it before she rose her head and summoned Laisren. Her tone made it clear that it was mandatory for him to come and if he didn't she was going to be sorely disappointed.

He had been trying to be patient since the meeting, not wanting to pester or to bother anyone that they would grow irritated with him. He was ready to start his training, to learn skills, and to get started with fighting. He just had to wait until someone was ready to teach him, but if that didn't start soon the boy would have to start hunting people down. Without this distraction he would be sitting around worrying about his mother and sister and bored with nothing to do. He tried to keep himself occupied, but it was beginning to get difficult.

He had been close by to the den, keeping his distance as instructed so that he would not get sick. The boy was playing with a stick and pretending that it was a large evil snake looking to eat his family. His ears perked at the summoning call from Faite and he lifted his head with an excited smile. It was time to begin training! Jumping up the boy took off in a run trying his best to get thier quickly without falling over his paws. When he did arrive he discovered a large open clearing, with Faite waiting for him. He galloped to greet her, plopping down in front of her with an excited wiggle from his scrawny tail.

"Is it time already?!" he questioned with excitement in his voice.

It was no surprise when he came charging at her. Her blue-gold gaze would rest upon him with mirth and laughter bubbled in her chest as she stared at his ungainly gait. He only slowed when he neared her and it seemed to her like he was still having problems with his paws. He seemed so excited to start training it looked like his tail was going to wiggle right away from his body! His mood was contagious and she found herself grinning a toothy smile at her younger brother. He was to be her first student and she was more than pleased he was so ready to get started. She'd nod in response to his question.

"Yes Lais." She'd laugh softly. "You seem more than ready."

She'd pause to think for a moment. She was mulling over ideas of what she could teach him. She'd never had a pupil before so this would be a learning curve for them both. She had no doubt she could condition him to be a fine warrior for Celestial. She supposed defenses were the first thing she needed to go over, but in the mean time she had a better idea.

"Show me your best fighting stance. I wanna see where your strengths lie. Don't think about it too much, just do it and we'll go from there."

His tail wiggled more the bright glimmer of excitement in his eyes. He had been waiting for this and was so ready to get started. He was also extremely excited to be training with one of his siblings He didn't get much opportunity to spend time with his older siblings because they were busy completing their everyday tasks. He has always been too small, but the boy was getting big enough that she should soon be able to accompany his older siblings so he could learn more. Faite seemed happy to be training him and the boy was excited to get started. She spoke and he listened to her before grinning from ear to ear.

"Yes I'm more then ready to get started!" he replied.

She took a moment and he assumed she was thinking of where to start first. While she thought the boy focused on trying to calm himself. He wanted to focus on the task at hand and make sure to absorb all the knowledge he could. She asked for his best defense stance and quickly his mind went to the night he found his sister practicing. He didn't need to think about it to much, but it didn't mean he could remember exactly how she was. Spreading out his legs and distributing his weight evenly on all four paws. Tail held to his rump in order to protect his private parts. Lowering his head so it was even with his body and flattening his ears against his skull. His eyes then looked to Faite showing her that this was his stance.

Faite grinned at the child as his tail wiggled. She hadn't needed to ask him if he was ready. The answer was obvious in his body language, but she'd asked anyways just to amuse herself. He was so energetic and hyper that it made her happy she'd been given such a prepared student. He wanted to learn and improve himself and at such a young age. It was great that her sibling was like this. They needed good warriors and with practice she could see him becoming a great one.

She examined his form as he quickly took a stance. It made her wonder if he'd already had lessons from someone. She nodded in approval as he spread out his legs and tucked in his tail. His head lowered and the last thing he did was flatten his tail. She studied him for a moment more before smiling.

"That's a good start, but there's so much more you need to protect." She's start by motioning with a paw to his throat. "First start by tucking your chin towards your throat that way no one can get you there. That's a very vital spot and could mean the end of a fight." She'd then motion to his face. "It's gonna feel funny, but bunch up the skin on your face into a snarl so it bunches around your eyes and then narrow your eyes. That makes them less of a target." She explained before showing him with her own face before she relaxed her face once again. "There's other skin and fur you can bunch up as well. Like on your shoulders. If you roll that fatty part forward with your shoulders it bundles up around your neck to add extra protection." She'd demonstrate that too before continuing. "You have your legs spread which is good. If you spread your toes too and try and dig your claws into the dirt it gives you better balance and makes you harder to topple over." She then looked to his tail. "Now with your tail I see you have it tucked, but some times it's more helpful when it's not. While you definitely want to protect your private parts your tail can be used for balance. So if someone is trying to knock you over from say... your right side you'll swing your tail to the left and lean to the right into their attack so you don't fall over." She'd then pause there to see if he was still following or if she'd confused him. "Any questions so far?"

He remained in stance, his eyes fallowing hers as she examined how he was standing. He wouldn't admit it, but he felt rather nervous because he didn't want to disappoint her. He wanted to do a good job and become a great worrier. He didn't want to let others down and it didn't want to look like a complete idiot also. He remained tensed and listened when Faite began to speak. His ears perked as she mentioned that there was much more that he needed to protect and the boy kept his focus on her.

As she began naming some important tips, his boy fallowed the tips. Each time she said something he did exactly as she instructed him starting with tucking his chin and ending with having his tail in alignment with his spine ready to use for balance if needed. Nodding the boy understood why it was a good idea for the tail and it was something that he hadn't thought of. He already knew vary well how to use his tail for balance especially in this lanky stage of his growth and he should easily become a master of balancing himself with his tail if he just practiced. Everything she told him made sense to him and really he was able to fallow her orders with ease. Though it felt extremely odd, the boy was used to feeling odd and it didn't bother to much.

When she turned to asking him if he had questions he shook his head 'no' and patiently waited to continue.

Faite focused on Laisren intently as he made all the adjustments as she named them off for him. It certainly wasn't all the things that he could do to protect himself, but it was a great start. She was more than pleased with how easily he seemed to be taking it all in. Everything she'd suggested he'd done to the best of his abilities and she was even more proud when he didn't seem to have any questions. He was like a sponge trying to soak in knowledge like water.

"You're doing really well Lais. You're picking this up like a natural." She praised him, beaming at him with her typical smile. "Now make sure to remember those defenses. We'll come back to those in a minute. Instead focus on how big you're going to be. From the way you're growing you're gonna be really large, so imagine you're fully grown and are taller than I am. How would you attack a wolf that's clearly faster than you?"

She was hoping he'd be smart enough to figure out how big he really was gonna be. They all seemed to be growing like weeds and she could tell he was going to be pretty large. He needed to recognize that his size was going to be both good and bad for him. He'd have some power behind those limbs if he practiced enough, though he would certainly lack the same speed that smaller wolves had - much like herself. So he needed to know how to keep a smaller wolf close quarters and how to use his strength in just the right ways so he could batter an opponent and weaken them.

His tail wagged as she praised him, his eyes brighter and his chest swelling with pride. He was happy that he was doing a good job and it made him feel awesome. He nodded as she stated to remember those defenses and that they would come back to them in a little bit. Once she said that he relaxed and straightened himself, allowing his muscles to relax. Sitting down the boy waited and listened to her next words. He already new that he was going to be a big boy, in fact he was praying and hoping to be as big as Regulus. He love it to be as big as his older brother!

He imagined himself taller then her, larger then her, and of course slower. He knew the bigger you were the slower you were no matter how hard you trained. He was quick to learn that compared to his litter mates even from day one. Her question didn't seem to be that hard though, at least he didn't think so. When she had the speed, he had the bulk and it wouldn't be hard for him to knock her of balance.

"Overpowering my opponent. I have the bulk and the mass and even with your speed it would be easy for me to overpower you, if I was bigger that is," he replied and hoped that his mind was in the right track.

Faite watched as Laisren took a seat and she waited patiently as she allowed him the time to mull things over. An encouraging smile was given to him and he seemed to be thinking it over. She could see the signs of how big he was going to be so she wanted to give him a head start to begin thinking about how to fight. She herself had gotten a rather late start so she was still learning how to use her own size to turn her fights into an advantage. She wanted him to have it all committed to memory so he'd be well prepared.

His answer pleased her and she nodded. "Good answer. Now, what would be the key thing for you to do with a smaller opponent? Overpowering them is a nice idea, but that will only work if you take the right steps."

She wanted him to think about how to answer her. She left it open for him to think it over and she sat patiently waiting. Of course for him, if he could figure it out, he'd answer with something similar to her own thinking. He'd want to keep his opponent close to him and keep the upper hand by not allowing them to back off to get away from striking range. Now the question was, would he think of that? She'd purposefully left her questions vague. Brute force was nice but she wanted to sharpen his mind as well.

Boy was she asking some tough questions. She really wanted to make him think. He must be thinking right though because she praised his answer for the last question, which in turn made his tail wag with enthusiasm once more. He was happy that he seemed to be doing a great job so far and happy to be learning from Faite. He made sure to burn the information into his brain so that it would be easy for him to recall it when it was needed to be used. He felt so comfortable learning to fight, like it was what he was born to do.

Her next question made him huff slightly as he drifted back into his mind to try and think of what the correct answer would be. Smaller opponents would be much faster and actually harder for a larger body to overpower. They would easily be able to escape with ease before he would even have the chance to overpower them, so How would you battle them. Well instead of going on the offense, how about more of a defense? No... His train of thought brought up that it would be difficult for him to get any sort of hit in if he remained on the defense, their speed would give them the upper hand.

He huffed again as he shifted in his spot. You would almost have to keep those small speedy wolves close to you, in constant striking range.

"You would have to keep them close, within striking range and not allow them to get away from you. That's really the only way to get the upper hand in that situation," he replied.

Faite waited patiently with a suppressed grin as he huffed. She was clearly making him think hard which was good. Being a warrior wasn't just about being able to fight well. Strategy and being able to think before you rushed off to battle was the thing that could decide whether you won or lost your fight. Laisren had done a good job answering her questions so far and she had hope that he'd continue to do so. She wanted to push his mind as well as his body. Once they got to the more physical aspects of his training - well that'd be the true test there to see if he retained the information he had given him.

"You would have to keep them close, within striking range and not allow them to get away from you. That's really the only way to get the upper hand in that situation,"

She beamed at him again and nodded. He was smart and that gave her hope. She was glad she'd been given Laisren as an apprentice. She was small which would be good in the long run. Once they did some practice spars he could work on getting used to fighting a smaller opponent. When he was ready he could even seek out some larger ones to learn how well he did against someone his own size when he grew into his large paws.

"Very good, Laisren." She praised him. "I want you to remember that fighting isn't just about how strong or fast you are. Your mind needs to be trained just like your body. You need to learn battle strategies and learn how to make smart decisions in a matter of seconds. In some cases your choices will be all the stand between you and death."
