He didn't think that he would run into any family members this quickly, or really anyone for that matter. Despite the scent markers from the newly appointed alphaess, a relative of his from what he could tell, he hadn't scented anyone near the border or anywhere close by. He'd figured he would wander in and just roam for a bit, maybe find somewhere to settle down for the rapidly approaching night and then set out in the morning to see who of his family he could round up and greet. But it seems unconsciously, some of his family, Aza to be exact, had been just expecting him. Or maybe it really was just a coincidence that she happened to be at the border right when he decided to come back. Then again, there weren't such things as coincidences. Well whatever the case, he was just happy to see his sister again. He'd missed her like crazy!
She'd heard his call and rose to her paws, though her body had shifted into a defensive stance. He almost wanted to laugh at how silly she was being. He was no threat to her, unless she counted drowning her in kisses as one, then yes, he was a huge threat at the moment. Recognition kicked in and her defensive stance melted away as she called out to him, rearing up to wrap her paws around his neck as he'd approached her, salmon tongue running a trail down between his eyes before she disengaged herself from him, prancing out of his reach. He took it all in stride, a huge grin curling his lips as she exclaimed her having missed him, wondering if their brother Soleon was trailing behind him. She quickly began talking, firing question after question at him, throwing news in his face that he wasn't really expecting. He listened intently though, the smile fading from his fa?ade as he absorbed all the information she was throwing at him. Its been so long! We need to celebrate. We need to tell.. someone. Is Soleon with you? Is he coming home, too? Mother and father are not here! Glaciem needed mother's help in training healers. Their parents weren't in Valhalla? Glaciem....Gael racked his brain, thinking back to the times his father had told him about the other packs in Alacritis. Glaciem....it rung a bell. Did he have family there? He felt like he did, but he didn't need to worry about that now. The point was that mother and father weren't in Valhalla but in Glaciem. Were they staying there permenantly or were they just helping? He hoped they were just helping. Valhalla was their home. They didn't belong anywhere else.
The young boy pulled himself from his thoughts, needing to continue listening to Aza as she relayed more news. Everything has happened since you went away, Gael. Father gave up the crown but not before making a lot of wolves mad. It was terrible. Cairo took temporary control and tried to give Valhalla to Epiphron and a wolf named Icarus. Epiphron gave her position to Chrysanthe, she's going to marry Maverick of Seracia very soon. Syrinx challenged for the throne but lost. So Chrysanthe is our only alpha now. Things have calmed down now, much better than they were and oh, Chrysanthe named me Heir. But I don't know when our parents will be back, I guess when they finally get all those healers trained up. I guess their lead healer was murdered, that sucks, but who knows. Well at least one of his questions was partially answered; his parents weren't permanently leaving Valhalla. That was good news. Aza was right when she said that a lot of things happened during his absence. Chrysanthe. That was the name of the female who'd marked the borders and was now leading their pack. Her name sounded familiar, as did Epiphron...They were...his aunts? It sounded plausible. He would confirm that later on. Now Cairo was his grandfather, he knew that much. He couldn't quite remember if he'd ever met his grandfather, but he did remember the aging brunette man. But there was one name that stood out to him. Icarus. Who was this fool? He had never heard the name before. A rogue trying to worm his way into his family? Gael bristled. Why would his grandfather try to hand over the throne to a stranger? He supposed he would find out later, if he ever got a chance to ask his father or grandfather about it.
Gael took a moment to process the news, doing a double-take on the last bit. Heir. Azalea was Heir now? Did that mean that she was going to be an alpha someday? Wow, that was pretty cool. He waited until she'd let everything out before allowing himself to speak, fa?ade rather serious as he spoke. I mean, I don't think my return is much cause for celebration, but if you wanna run around telling everyone, I don't have a problem with that. As far as Soleon, I haven't seen our brother since we both headed out to roam. I figured he might have already found his way back here, but I guess that's not the case. he paused for a moment, crown craning towards his right shoulder, ocean blue pools gazing back at the way he came, as if his brother would come trotting up any moment. But when no one came Gael turned back to his sister, continuing on. I noticed the new change. I could smell the new scent markers. Chrysanthe is our aunt is she not, and Epiphron as well? Their names sound familiar but I can't quite place them. As far as father giving up the crown, do you know why he did so? It's fine if you don't, I can always find out later. But our parents will be back right? They aren't staying in Glaciem long I hope. But who's Icarus? I don't remember ever hearing about him. Why was grandfather going to give the power to some random stranger? He could've run Valhalla straight into the ground for pete's sake! He wasn't usually one to get involved in the politics of running a pack, but putting a stranger in charge didn't sit well with the young Adravendi.
He took a deep breath, letting the agitation that had begun to work itself inside him melt away. Syrinx is our uncle, yes? I remember hearing about him, but I don't remember if I ever met him. Never liked him from what I've heard about him. I'm glad Chrysanthe was able to beat him. She is much more worthy of holding the title of alpha than he is. And speaking of titles, I think congratulations is in order little sister. I'm glad to hear that you have been named heir. It suits you. He smiled, the seriousness having faded, presenting his smaller sister with a mock bow, plume wagging playfully behind his haunches as he reached out, bumping her nose with his. I've sure missed a lot. But I'm really glad to back. Wandering got boring after a while. he chuckled good naturedly, watching his sister with a gentle azure gaze.
