The man was resting, his golden gaze closed as he basked in the autumn sunlight. He was near his den, ears perked upwards. Though his eyes were closed the man wasn’t sleeping, not yet anyway. He had been hoping to spend a little more time with Kalliope soon, but he was working on building up the courage to approach the maiden. He was sure that, with time, he’d be able to speak with Kalliope again. He couldn’t keep putting it off and certainly didn’t want her to feel like he was avoiding her. He’d been bringing her meals, small gifts here and there, but they were always left outside her den. Why was it that she made his heart flutter so? Golden eyes slowly peeked open, the sound of pawsteps reaching his ears. At first he suspected it was Rasiel, but no, these steps didn’t quite sound like his niece… So… who? He looked around, seeing if he could spot the young wolf those steps belonged to.

Fable Ancora

Fable was determined to meet every single wolf in this pack. He had seen a lot of them in the meeting, but there had been too much going on to prance around and say hi. His Da had looked like it was really serious too, but it was very difficult for the boy to sit still. So now he bounded across the territory, his grey and white head held high. His gait was smooth and almost graceful, like he was getting used to his paws that were far too large for his body. Such was the manner of all puppies, but this boy's were bigger than the rest of his brothers as well. Da said that meant he was going to be really tall, but Creed wasn't that tall and either was his mother. He hadn't met anyone super tall before, so the whole idea was absurd to him. Shaking his head to scatter the worrisome thoughts, he started to make a beeline for the bit wet lake to see if he could catch a fish. But before he could get too far, he saw a pale white man resting in the dull sunlight. A huge grin broke across his maw and he took off at a sprint, closing in the distance as fast as he possibly could. His tongue flopped out of his mouth as he panted lightly, his tail rising to wag behind him. "Hi! I'm Fable! You were at da meeting, I swaw you dere. What's your name? I didn't gets to wearn it cause the wady started twaking awot. You're rweary white, did you just get borned with no cwolors? I have some cwolors on me! Not awot doe, just a fuw of dem," he said quickly, his mouth moving almost as fast as his tail was. "What do yew do in da pwack? Can you teachs me? I wove to wearn wots and wots!" The boy bounced up and down, hoping from paw to paw in a little dance of sorts. It didn't take much to get him excited.

Castiel was right, sure enough. A pup came bounding up to him, firing off words from his mouth at a speed that caused the pale man to chuckle. What a friendly little fellow! He looked a lot like Creed, so he suspected that this little one was his and Kav’s son. Fable was the name he was given, and Cas couldn’t help but shake his head with wonder. Had he been this excitable as a pup? But all the same he decided he’d answer the young one’s questions. Perhaps the interaction with this child could do him some good.

“Yes little sir, I was. I’m Castiel. That lady is my niece, and she’s a good wolf. You make sure to listen to her as well as you listen to your Ma and Pa, okay?” He was smiling, his own tail wagging back and forth. “I was born this way, like my Mama before me. She was pure white, like snow. I like looking like this though. If I had pretty blue eyes I’d look just like her.” Castiel had shifted to a standing position, watching the young one as he kept speaking.

“Primarily I fight for the pack, but I can also hunt. I like hunting for my friend Kalliope too.” He was grinning from ear to ear now. “So it all depends on what you want to do, Fable. Do you want to learn how to fight, or should we surprise your family with something to snack on first?”

Fable Ancora

When the really plain white man called him a little sir, his chest puffed out with pride as his chin rose slightly. Yeah, he was all fancy with a title and stuff! His face grew a touch somber when he said that he had to listen to the lady really well, eagerly nodding his head up and down. Of course he would listen! He was a good boy, and he always did what Da told him. But his ears flickered a bit at the mention of Ma, his paw drawing a little circle in the ground below him. "Ma isn't awound, I dun fink dat I did goods enough to make her happy," the pup admitted. His puppy features pulled down in a tight frown, but it didn't last very long. Castiel said that his momma was white as snow, which made his ears stand erect once more. What was snow? He knew that it was white, but he hadn't seen snow yet. Fable's white and grey head tilted to the side as he tried to think of all the things he had seen, but the word 'snow' wasn't on the list. "Wha' is snow? I dunno wha' snow is! Is 'ou snow? Cause if yur momma was snow den you snow too, rwigh'?" he asked innocently, his gray and white tail sweeping against the plains behind him.

The snow told him that he was a fighter, which made his eyes grow wide in excitement. His Da had started to teach him how to fight, and Fortune had showed him a bit about hunting. So he knew a little bit about both, but not enough! There was still so much more to learn, and he wanted to shove as much knowledge into his mind as possible. "Um... can we does boff?" he asked with an excited yip, hardly able to contain himself. He spoke about a friend too, and he looked around to see if he could see this Kalliope. But where was his friend? He pouted slightly, looking back at Castiel. "Who Kawiope? Is she snow too?" Fable asked, his head cocking to one side.

Castiel frowned as Fable said that his mother wasn’t around. He decided not to say anything about that yet, letting the little one keep talking. His innocence melted Cas’ heart. Such a sweet child he was… Castiel decided to humor him. “Snow… snow is one of the most beautiful and coldest things… it can be harsh, yet in it’s own way it can bring happiness. You’ll see it this winter… I promise.” Cas reached out, touching a little forepaw oh so gently. “Looks like you’ve got some snow in you too. See all that white?” His golden eyes were shining happily. It was working with children, and the younger wolves of Celestial, that Cas truly felt at peace. Perhaps that was his calling?

“But to answer your question yes, if my mother was snow then I too am snow.” He blew a bit of air towards the younger wolf. “…and don’t worry about your ma, alright? She’s an important lady. She’s trying to make sure my sister and her mate get better. She has an important journey right now, but she’ll be back. I’m sure of that. When she is she’ll shower you with so much love you won’t know what to do!” Cas’ tag had begun to wag, especially when the young one asked if they could do both.

“Of course! We don’t need to do it all today either. If you want I can help you get strong, sir Fable! You’ll become the best fighter and hunter in Celestial!” At the mention of Kalliope his gaze softened, chuckling softly. “Kalliope is a bit of snow, yes, but she is also honey… sweet to be around and so very, very warm. I’ll call her here so you can meet her, okay?” Castiel paused. “But there is something very important you need to know about her, okay? She can’t see like you and I can… to her it’s like her eyes are always closed, even when they’re not. She’ll be able to find us by our voices.” Castiel grinned. “Just wait until you meet her Fable. Maybe she’ll even be able to teach you about plants if you want.” With that Cas tilted his head back, calling for his friend.

Kalliope lifted her head from her paws as she listened to Castiel's howl curiously. How unusual. She didn't think she had ever been called for like this. It kind of made her feel important in a way though, to have someone think of her and want her to be around. She smiled wistfully and got to her paws to trot off in the direction of Castiel's call. She was glad that she was starting to learn her way around Celestial's territory. It made getting around much easier. She got to them not long after Castiel had howled for her and as she trotted over to him she noticed the second scent near him.

Her ears perked with interest and she had a small smile on her lips as she came over to stand near her pale friend. "Hey there, Castiel," she said, her tail wagging lightly. She turned her head in Fable's general direction curiously. She could tell from the boy's scent that he was on the younger side and she was pretty sure she recognized his scent from the last pack meeting. "And who might you be?" She settled down on her haunches, always finding it easier and less disorienting to sit down. She was incredibly curious about who this pup was, but she was even more curious to see why Castiel had called for her.

Fable Ancora

The older man tried his best to explain snow to him, but Fable just sat there with his head cocked and a very confused look on his little face. He had no idea what he was trying to get at, so he just decided that Castiel was snow. He said his friend was a bit of snow too, and he slowly nodded his head. If wolves where snow, then why was it cold and wet? Did he mean that he was cold and wet like the lake? Leaning forward to brush his nose across his pale shoulder, he discovered that he was not cold and wet. His frown grew deeper yet, brows knitting together as he tried his best to work it all out. He had to wait until winter he guessed, whenever that was... When he said that he had a bit of snow on him too, he looked down at his coat in surprise. So he did! So Fable was snow too! "You'we more snow den I is though, bu' my Ma hwas lotsa snow too. We all snow!" he yipped with delight, storing this information away for later. He couldn't wait to tell his brothers that they had snow in them!

When Castiel said that his Ma was important, he grew more somber and nodded his head. Da had said that it was important for her to go, but they boy felt like it had been him himself that forced her away. If he had been better, then she could have been important here! His tail wagged slightly though at the mention of love, he did like snuggles and licks. Creed wasn't overly affectionate, as he thought most Da's were. He was a fighter, really strong and proud. So he must give love other ways. Were there lots of ways to show love? He didn't know how to show it, but he understood that he loved his family and his pack. Did that mean he had to snuggle his brothers all the time? The boy's nose wrinkled at that thought, he didn't wanna do that. They would probably call him crazy and he didn't want to be crazy! He became distracted when the snow-wolf said that he was going to be the best fighter in all of Celestial. His chest puffed out with pride, his nose pointed towards the sky as he nodded his head up and down quickly. But wait... peeking at Castiel, he thought for a moment. "My Da is the bwest fwighter, so I gotta get stwong like him!" It would be hard to surpass Creed, since he was so big and mighty! But he was determined to show the world that he could be the best at everything he did.

When the introduction of his friend came, he was far too excited at the possibility of meeting someone knew that it was hard to focus on his words. He didn't quite grasp the fact that she couldn't see, it seemed too hard to understand that a wolf couldn't see like he could. He nodded his head, his pulled brows saying that he was trying to get it all. But he tipped back his head to howl, and Fable did the same, his high-pitched puppy voice joining in. He wasn't really calling for anyone, but howling was fun! Wiggling where he stood, his head tossed back and forth as he waited for her to show up. It didn't take long though, and he nearly bounded right at her. But he paused, looking back at the older man. If she couldn't see, how was she walking over here? If he tried to close his eyes and walk, he would run into everything! The peach-coloured woman sat, and Fable was staring very hard at her. She looked right at him, and he nearly jumped. "Wait, if you can't see me, how do you know where I is?" It was clear that he was trying to understand, but quickly gasped and looked at Castiel. "Was dat rwude? Should I not say dat stuff?" He asked, looking quickly between the adults.
