Boredom had settled in with her. Renhett had half of her body hanging out of the den. Her front limbs were outstretched and her head lie on the ground. Kai was old enough to wander around pack lands now, though she made sure to let him know not to leave unless his dad said it was okay. Kai was not bound to these lands he wasn't an Abaven wolf - but he was young which meant all sorts of predators could attack the boy. Even when Kai was so huge Renhett just wanted to make sure he grew to be healthy until Aki took him away. She felt that day approaching rather quickly. Did she mind, not really. Renhett didn't want to think about that though. It made her head hurt as she rolled onto her back and tucked her feet in. She had closed herself off and kept a reasonable distance from the thoughts. Kai knew that Aki and her were friends. After all freedom was important. Renhett hummed mildly her thoughts centering around herbs to distract herself. Mint, Kava, she thought of her stores and she thought about what she needed to do before winter approached them. "Talk"

Kai was still blissfully naive of most things. The young boy was just barely beginning to figure out how everything fit together in his life.. most of which revolved around his den, and his mother and father. His father spent more time with him, but he figured that was how things always were. He did understand that they wouldn't stay here, that this was where his mom lived but not where they would live. They were just staying here until he was ready to live. He certainly felt strong enough to leave, but the adults knew better than he did, or so they said. The boy wandered, not too far from the den but far enough to feel as though he was alone.

He knew little of how atypical the relationship that his parents had was. It was all he knew, and he was happy. Kai had no reason to not be. Feeling restless, the boy found himself wandering back toward the den, catching a glimpse of his mother from the distance. Grinning, his pace quickened, his tail waving freely behind him as he drew closer.  "Mom!" he called out, his voice soft and high-pitched still, no indicator of what sort of voice he might have when he grew older. Aki hadn't known what to introduce Renhett as, other than what she was.. his mother.  "Whatcha doing?" He chirped curiously as he came to a halt, promptly flopping to his stomach in front of her. "You look bored!" He just saw her doing nothing, and figured she must be bored, right? What could possibly be fun about just lying here? His head cocked to the side as he eyed her, beaming.

The woman rolled over when she noticed her large son approaching her. It was funny how innocent pups could be. She'd just be happy if he grew to value his freedom of course. "I am actually, bored." Renhett confirmed with a nod of her head as she smiled a bit. Her tail flicking for a moment as something popped in her head. She didn't know how young a pup could learn language. She suddenly turned into psychologist mode and straightened herself still laying on her stomach. "Say Kai did you know that I speak Japanese? It's a language." she smiled. She got a chance to study how quickly a kid could catch onto lessons. "If you'd like I can teach you a bit." Who didn't want to learn another language. It left them open to talking to others didn't it? "Talk"

He did briefly wonder why he wouldn't be staying here to live with his mom, but the easiest explanation to him was because that was how things were. Maybe not for everyone, but it seemed normal enough to him. The boy grinned at Renhett as she admitted her boredom. He was too young to really understand boredom.. everything was still so new and so interesting to him! He hunkered down in front of her, watching her eagerly as her face contorted in thought.

"Japanese?" The word sounded weird, and foreign, on his tongue. He cocked his head further to the side as he thought about it. His dad knew another language, one that sounded funny to him, and he had taught him a few words. But it didn't sound like the name of this one.  "Say some stuff to me!" He liked the thought of learning things he didn't know, especially if it was something other people didn't know! His tail wagged again happily as he waited.  "I want to learn it!" He wondered if his dad knew this language? Would he be impressed if he spoke it? Either way, he was thirsty for knowledge and he wanted more of it already.

This would be good for him anyway. Learning other languages was important and Renhett knew teaching it would probably make her a little bit more happy than she had been. A smile on her face as she nodded her head. "Well let's start with the simple stuff first. Like how to say thank you, please, dad, mom and your name." She began as her tail flicked to another side of her body. Relaxing on her stomach felt so nice - after all she didn't have to worry about predators at the moment. Being a loner had put her on edge many times. "Thank you is Arigato. Please is Onegai. You're dad would be your Otosan and mom would be Okasan - though it can also be haha usually okasan is used when referring to someone else's mother as well as your own for formal reasons." it may not have been as interesting as any heavy japanese but it was something. "When you introduce yourself you could say something along the lines of Watashi ko Kai." her eyes watched Kai carefully. "Are there any specific words or phrases you want to learn?" "Talk"

Though he only knew a bit of his father's language, he saw no reason he couldn't learn his mom's too! He was young and eager, ready to absorb whatever knowledge they wanted to share with him. In Finnish, he knew some basic words and phrases. Some greetings, how to ask someone how they were, and basic words - reindeer, mother, father. He knew a bit about some of his father's gods and goddesses but the names didn't sound quite natural to him yet and it was hard to remember all of what he had been taught. Hopefully in time he understood it all better.

He grinned as Renhett explained some words to him. His silver gaze fixed on her, interested and alert, as she spoke. "Arigato," he repeated the greeting happily, trying to imitate the way she spoke the words. It sounded much different than how he usually spoke, and far different from his father's voice when he spoke in his first language. "Onegai is please. Dad is Otosan and Mom is Okasan." It was a lot to take in, but saying the words out loud helped him. He went over all of it in his head for a moment, tail slapping tightly against the ground. The last thing she said sounded more useful. "Watashi ko Kai," he said firmly, his pronunciation a bit off, but he was trying! His grin widened a bit at her question. "Nothing in particular, not really," he told her. He just was curious, that was all.

Renhett seemed please. Hoping that at least Aki would not mind she was teaching Kai these things. Leaving her mark on him as to say. She was excited that one day she might run into him as a young man out on his own. She knew he was not fully hers to call. Truthfully she'd known that from the beginning but somehow she was also relieved. She really didn't want to take care of a kid until she was ready to start a real family. This favor was enlightening really. "If you ever want more lessons you can howl for me." she noted for a moment. "If you're hungry you say Onaka ga akimashita and if you need herbs for wounds you say Watashi wa kizutsuite imasu, anata wa hābu o motte imasu ka? You should remember these they might come in handy should a wolf speak this language and not english." She smiled towards the boy. Hoping at least that would be of some help as well. "Talk"

Kai was, as most children, thirsty for knowledge and was happy to take any information that his mom wanted to give him. Though he was closer to his father, he also enjoyed the time he spent with his mom, and the fact that it was less frequent made time spent with her that much more exciting. His eyes betrayed it all - full of vibrant life and excitement as he listened and tried to remember the words she spoke. They sounded strange to him, like something from a different world entirely.

She told him if he ever wanted lessons, to call for her. Awesome! "Okay!"  Kai chirped happily, tail slapping the ground behind where he lay. With that, he practiced the small phrases she gave him. They did seem useful! Maybe someday he might find himself in a bad situation and being able to communicate seemed like it could help him. He wondered then how many languages might be there. He knew one, and his dad had one too he'd been teaching him, and now this one too! "Onaka ga akimashita means I'm hungry," he started carefully. "Watashi wa kizutsuite imasu, anata wa hābu o motte imasu ka means I need herbs for my wounds." It didn't sound right on his tongue, no it sounded pretty terrible compared to how his mom had said it, but he tried to remember how the words sounded. He'd definitely have to ask her those again!
