Once upon a time, A few mistakes ago. I was in your sights, you got me alone. You found me, you found me, you found me. I guess you didn't care, and I guess I liked that and when I fell hard, you took a step back.

Claston trotted forward cockily, her toxic green gaze fixed upon the horizon, auds perked high atop her crown, banner waving elegantly behind her, and paws coming up high with each step. She looked like a beauty queen, all prim and proper and ready for show, her best behavior on display, not that she had much of one. Her looks were what helped her catch the unlucky wolves who met her, and she enjoyed every second of attention she got. She was arrogant, having grown into her skin quite well with the help of her 'parents', or 'mentors'. She hated the sound of both when she spoke them, the words rolling sourly off her tongue, so she referred to them by their full names, nothing more, nothing less.

I knew you were Trouble when you walked in, so shame on me now. Flew me to places I've never been, til you put me down. Oh. I knew you were Trouble when you walked in, so shame on me now. Flew me to places I've never been, now I'm lying on the cold, hard ground.

Snout lifting slightly higher, the wolfess slowed, taking a deep sniff of the borderline that loomed in front of her. These lands looked... Enchanting. Haunting, even. She was intrigued, and so she lifted her muzzle high to the sky, parting her maw to reveal polished, sharp canines, and let loose a beautifully melodious howl. She began strong, and then softened until she lowered her head, swiveling it to survey the terra she was prepared to explore soon. She had not a doubt in her mind that she would be let in, after all, she had been trained for this. Prepped and taught. Chakota and Cadence had taught her every single thing they knew, and she was ready. After all the months of traveling, she was eagerly awaiting the moment when she could cause utter chaos in a pack. Wreak total disaster, and then pin the blame on somebody else, watch their downfall, be the reason for their demise.

I heard you moved on, from whispers on the street. A new notch in your belt, is all I'll ever be. And now I see, now I see, now I see. He was long gone, when he met me. And I realize, the joke is on me. Hey! I knew you were Trouble when you walked in, so shame on me now. Flew me to places I've never been, til you put me down. Oh. I knew you were Trouble when you walked in, so shame on me now. Flew me to places I've never been. Now I'm lying on the cold, hard ground.

She would begin with her brother Chayton, she had decided long ago. She would find him after she settled in to a pack, and then she would bring him to know what his 'True Nature' was. She would instruct him in the ways of pain, how to destroy others, how to manipulate to get whatever you wanted. She would enjoy those lessons, as he was her flesh and blood, and he would have to trust and listen to her. After, she would have him take her to their sister, Camden, and they, together as a brother-sister duo, would educate her in the beautiful art of misery.

And the saddest fear, comes creeping in. That you never loved me, or her, or anyone, or anything. Yeah. I knew you were Trouble when you walked in, so shame on me now. Flew me to places I've never been, til you put me down. Oh. I knew you were Trouble when you walked in, so shame on me now. Flew me to places I've never been, now I'm lying on the cold, hard ground. Oh. Oh. Trouble. Trouble. Trouble.

Mind returning to the task at hand, Claston perched herself delicately on her haunches, body slightly tensed, yet it was almost unnoticeable, as she draped her banner over her paws, to hide the way they were flexing in the dirt. She blinked slowly, wondering what the leaders of this pack would think of her at first glance, a small weak nothing. HA! She laughed inwardly as she then imagined what their faces would look like as she passed any and all tests they threw at her. Except for that whole fishing concept... She didn't quite understand why any would want those slimy, slippery, revolting creatures. They couldn't even growl. Why, she believed they should be exterminated as well, with all the dumb and weak, pure-hearted wolves.

...

Where as most wolves seemed to shrink down and burrow away in winter, Champion came alive. By now she was accustomed to southern climates, yes, but winter meant that she came into her own. Her size and coat meant that she barely felt even the worst cold snaps. Wind barely touched her. Ice couldn't stop her. And all her muscle meant that she could travel easily through the drifts were other wolves floundered and panted.

Already she'd worn a great many paths into the snow around Amenti. This was the land of giants, and she was not the only wolf in the borders to have huge paws, she did have the fluffiest, and it was easy to see which stretches of trail were the ones that she'd worn down. Even some of the deer and prey had taken to using Champion's highways - far easier than carving out some of their own.

On this day, the mammoth Beta was on the scent of an old buck, when the capering sing-song of a howl reached her ears. There was a stranger upon the borders - but at least this one had the good sense to wait there.

It was the work of a few minutes for Champion's bulk to shift from her hunting trails to the edge of the forest. And there she was greeted by the sight of a small, russet marked she-wolf. Burgundy eyes flitted over the stranger, analyzing by instinct. However this was, she carried herself with balance of either high born lady, or a high born killer. Most intriguing. Curiosity was ever present in Champion's cranium, often it took on a darker, almost morbid turn, but on his day it was innocent enough. She stepped up to the border, and with a slight dip of her head, spoke in easy, tranquil terms "Good day to you stranger. As your pelt holds no other pack scent, I assume you're here to consider joining. I am Champion, Chevalier to the Queenslayer Newt, and I've permission to bring newcomers to the Queen's attention. So tell me, what makes you worthy to walk neath the redwood shades with the assassian's pack?"

Claston had to hold back a snort, as she peered up at the unusually large wolf whom had approached her. She stood, it not making much of a difference, but at least giving the she-wolf some comfort, for even though she was completely comfortable with her size, next to the mammoth of a wolf, she felt like a dwarf.

Toxic green gaze fixated on the high ranking wolf, ears perked up in attention, and tail lowering to hang slightly between her legs, yet still held up, Claston bowed to the wolf. "Tis of great pleasure to be in your presence, then. My name is Claston Chankito." She smiled as if humoured by the femme's comment about the packs, "Yes, I've heard many a comment about this pack. Not too many were good, most were ill-natured in fact, yet I was intrigued. It's not often I hear of a pack with a dark history, for I almost always hear of these kind, regal, honorable packs with none a mark of darkness on them. It bothers me a great deal." She rolled her eyes playfully, smiling good-naturedly at Champion.

Blinking as she was faced with the question of what she could bring to the table, a smirk slowly grew upon her face. "I've been trained in the beautiful art of misery since I was but a pup. 9 1/2 months and they started showing me how to fight. Sparring was a pleasure. And they taught me at 6 months, as I had to be rescued from some wretched ingrates." She snorted, her lips pulling up in disgust at the memories of her blood parents, before she shook her head to rid herself of the thoughts.

"I've been taught in the arts of manipulation, deception, murder, and covering your tracks. I am a swift and silent hunter, though I prefer hunting at nighttime." She paused to catch a short breath, before plowing on, "I believe fighting is a privilege, and it's quite a pleasure for me. I enjoy battles for I savor every moment of victory, and if I am caught in defeat, I am relentless during training for the next battle. Also, whenever I am caught in a tough situation, I am a quick and clever thinker, easily finding ways to get out." She smiled innocently, as she finished and stared expectantly up at the other female, studying her features and storing the wolfess' scent in the back of her mind for the future.

From the outstart, the meeting was smooth. The small stranger, who introduced herself as Claston, was a polite and easy talker - quite refreshing. Any wolf could turn themselves into a blood loving, snickering creature of shadows, but there was a select few who could learn and retain a sense of common courtesy. But though Champion was quick to see the value of a pack without inhibitions, she didn't quite share that smile that was pasted her way when Claston admitted to her troubles over the more light-hearted more rigidly moral packs. After all, Champion had come from one, and they'd bred out some of the best warriors she'd ever known. "There is honor even among thieves," she said quietly, not so much contradicting the other she-wolf as just commenting. "And there must be some level of trust and obedience otherwise the pack would be without stability."

Champion listened as the fae went on, explaining a bit about herself and her training. It seemed that Champion's eyes had not told her wrong. This was indeed a fighter, practically since she was weaned. The big she-wolf perked up a bit - her ears scooping forward and her bushy tail cocking high as ever. Another she-wolf who'd been trained since infancy! And with all the descriptions of this girl's skills, well it seemed that Champion's curiosity had steered her in a most intriguing direction.

"If anything you sound overqualified," Champion rumbled, pleasantly. And despite the fact that Claston had listed 'deception' among her artist's box of skills, Champion believed all that had been said. It fit somehow with the dignified, defiant creature that stood in her shadow. "My only question is, with all your abilities, do you find it difficult to take direction? There are lots of, shall we say, willful spirits, among the pack," Champion let a smirk play across her muzzle. She'd found it annoying at first, but she'd gotten into the swing of dealing with personalities that had no relation to her own. " and such things are welcome, so long as when it counts, they can respect the highest authority." Could she?

Her keen hearing picked up the words the she-wolf murmered, seemingly for only herself to hear, and Claston blinked slowly, fully understanding, yet having to hold back a snort. "I realize that. I would dedicate my life and service to this pack, should it become my home. It would be like a second family, and extended lifeline of mine, and I would honor and uphold all the rules put in place before me." Honesty sugarcoated her words, and she watched the larger wolf carefully as she listened to her words.

She blinked again, speaking once more, "I do not disgrace any pack I join. I have only ever been in two others, yet I gave my life to them, and I put everything I had into making it the best along with my packmates. I would help out in others training if I was above their skill level, and then try to surpass others as I trained harder for each battle." She dipped her head again as she ended, fixing Champion with a steely green gaze, awaiting her final decision.
