Quietly approaching the border, the pale ghost-like femme with the sharp cerulean gaze sniffed the air deeply. Lifting her head to the sky, the she-wolf opened her maw, letting a haunting melody slide out of her muzzle. I request permission to join. Is what the fair wolfess asks, before she ends the howl and steps back. Lowering herself lightly onto her haunches, she curls her fairly fluffy banner over her paws, her sleek yet thick pelt offering the perfect protection she needs against the harsh cold of the tundra-like terra in front of, and around, her. She hummed softly to herself as she waited for a ranked wolf to come and greet her, and she softly sang, "I'm sorry for, the wolf that I became. I'm sorry that, it took so long for me to change. I'm ready to, make sure I never become that way again. 'Cause who I am hates who I've been. Who I am hates who I've been."

Head snapping up as she thought she heard something, she stood, shaking herself to look presentable. But as a hare darted across her path, she snorted at her own ignorance, and shifted, having to hold herself back from darting after the easy meal. She knew that was unacceptable when she wasn't actually a part of the pack, and it could be punishable in many ways. She had been gone for far too long, two whole months, and she knew they might not be so welcoming to her since she had been here before but had decided to leave. So she was slightly nervous as to what might face her here, yet was strong and bold enough to be willing to endure anything to earn a place in the pack again. She would go through any tests of loyalty and endurance, and answer any questions thrown at her.

The male was getting old and it was showing. He was slowing down. Muscles were still incredibly toned for his age. Hard and compact. Living in the far north certainly had it's advantages. The cold still didn't affect him. His coat was as thick as ever, but slowing losing the luster it once held in his prime. Movements were getting slower. Some things took more energy than others. He'd wear down a bit faster than normal and overall he wasn't quite the warrior he once was. It was fine. A part of him didn't mind getting older. Of course it meant he couldn't do what he once did. Leaving to find Asheni's killer wasn't one of the things he could do, or was allowed to do for that matter.

He'd made a promise. A promise to his wife to not leave again. He would leave the chase up to Gargoyle, Oxia, and them. The old Lead Brave would remain at home with his family. Of course he wished to deliver the final blow to the bastard who killed his best friend, but he would bide his time and wait patiently for that day to arrive. For now he'd enjoy his time with his family. Whatever time he had left.

A summoning howl and the soft lyrics of another soon reached his ears. It was almost familiar but a name didn't come to mind. Regardless, the brute rose from his paws and flicked his tail for Shifi to follow him. The owl hooted once, glanced at his sleeping children, and then followed Cifer on silent wings to the borders upon which the girl sat.

She was a ghostly colored creature. White like a lot of wolves that traveled this way seemed to be. Alabaster head dipped downwards in greeting as he stood silently, stopping a short distance away from her. Emerald eyes observed her for a moment before he spoke.

"What brings you to Glaciem?"

Feather shifted again, lifting her head the slightest bit to survey the male in front of her. She smiled faintly, remembering seeing the brute around, and softly replied, "I have return to be accepted in the pack. You see, I was here some time ago. Two months or more I've been gone, but I was here in the old Alacritia, before the... explosion. Then I followed the others here and settled in." She shrugged, showing the rest was sort of history. Blinking, her cerulean gaze darkened for a moment, as she glanced down at her paws.

Blinking yet agin, she lifted her gaze to meet the male's emerald optics, and she smiled slightly. I wonder what I need to do. If I need to do anything at all to gain acceptance, besides answer any questions. She glanced at him again, realizing she had looked down, and that she had forgotten to introduce herself, "I'm Feather. I used to be a warrior of Glaciem, before I left. Now, I don't know." She ducked her head, wondering if he would look down on her since she had left, and yet returned to get forgiveness and join again.

Masqurading as a man with a Reason

my Charade is the Event of the Season

though my eyes could see, I still was a blind man

though my mind could think, I still was a mad man

I hear the voices when I'm dreaming

I can hear them say:

"Thank you, Cifer," Gargoyle rumbled as he stepped up from behind the Lead Brave. He gave a nod, his gesture of gratitude. He was here now and he could judge the fae for himself, but as always, he was happy for the older male's presence.

His eyes alighted on the white female, but it took him a moment more to realize what his senses were telling him. It was feather! It was! He'd heard the last of her words as he'd come up, but it was still surprising. They'd figured that the female had decided that the northern wilderness was a bit too much. She couldn't be blamed really. Insomnia had done more or less the same - and she'd been allowed back.

And Feather's attitude lent itself to her case too. If she'd come back cocksure and haughty that'd be one thing, but she was obviously apologetic for leaving and ready to return.

There was one important question though.

Gargoyle leveled his yellow gaze with hers. "Feather... we're always happy to have a packmate return... But what made you change your mind? What's brought you back to us?"

Head jerking up, Feather blinked her eyes, baby blues widening as she took in the form of Gargoyle stepping out from behind Cifer. She immediately lowered herself into a bow, right foot sliding forward, left foot tucking in, and tail lowering and placing itself between her haunches. Her ears fell back against her skull, and her icy gaze focused on his paws. She held that position for a few moments, before she rose as he addressed her.

A heat rose to her cheeks, her body flushing with embarrassment as he questioned why she left. "I-uh. I had erm..." She trailed off, attempting to word it correctly, and she blinked before continuing on. "I had family business to attend to. My relative, more of a cousin I guess, Chayton, got contacted by his sister Camden, that she needed help. So he of course contacted me, and we set off to see what we could do. We got there in time, there was a large group of rogues that was a problem. So we helped fix it." She closed her mouth as she realized she had rambled, and she blinked yet again.

Flicking her ears, she lifted her tail a little to keep it out of the snow, and waited patiently for her words to sink in. She was nervous, and so she kept unconsciously shifting her paws, not aware of that habit. She flexed her paws in the snow, the cold comforting the pale femme.

"Ah," Gargoyle grunted. "Family." It was quite obvious she was telling the truth, there were faint traces of the scent of other wolves on her. "If your reasons were honorable, then no one can hold any grudge for you leaving." After all, they weren't Starlite. (Yes, Gargoyle's memory was still tainted by that)

"But, of course we worried about you. Your pack is meant to be an extended family of sorts. If it ever happens again, you must let someone know." That was all he needed to say on the matter. It was clear from her manner that this was all the chastizing she could possibily need. Anything else and she might start crying. Gargoyle just wanted her to understand where he came from. She wasn't in trouble or anything -

-about now he was wishing he still had a tail he could wag to get the point across.

oh well.

"Consider yourself once more a member of our ranks," the Chief rumbled. "There've been quite a few additions to the pack since you left," he added as he turned and gestured for them to walk inland together. "For one thing, both myself and Cifer have become fathers. I hope you can tolerate all the pups running around." It was so natural, he was already slipping back into his comfortable speech, already treating her like an old pack mate again.
