This Is Bad

Pontifex galloped back into Seracia, the organ in his chest beating at a frenzied pace. What had he just witnessed? Why had those rogues been attacking the Seracian woman? Had she done something to provoke them? Were they looking to kill her? Were they wanderers who had been hired to execute some kind of hit men job? There were so many questions that were firing through his head and he didn't have a single answer to any of them. Once he told Gerhardt, he was sure the king would have questions too, ones the esquire would most not likely have solid answers for. He ran until he reached the heart of the territory where the barn stood, the spot the king had called him to not too long ago for the trip to the pack Valhalla. The brute threw his head back, inky lips coming together as a urgent call burst forth from his larynx, summoning the king and any other Seracian under a high rank. After a moment he allowed the call to drop, crow returning to its former position, golden gaze looking out anxiously to the rest of the territory as he paced, unable to keep still for the moment. What was happening?

She had watched him flee the scene of the murder. Her presence went unnoticed. She rolled in the snow, clearing the blood from her pelt completely before she found some plants to roll, masking her scent. She followed his trail, not that she needed to, he made enough noise trampling through the snow. The scent of a pack grew stronger and stronger. So he was going to be a little snitch? A silent snarl curled her lips back over ivory daggers. She lingered a ways off for a moment, watching him bolt to the heart of his home. A plan formed in her mind. Why not join a pack? Become part of the family? Deja vu rocked her memories. The bodies of her packmates lying around, bloodied and lifeless, Demyan at her side. She heard the wolf howl, summoning his Alpha and anyone else. The area would soon be packed with wolves, no doubt. Where was her brother when she needed him? Probably off screwing some whore.
She lingered, debating whether or not to approach, feign distress and attempt to helf the soon to be stricken pack. Oh the horrors they would find. If there was anything left to find. Not now. She would wait. Coral gaze drifted across the land, memorizing its appearance and smell. She'd be back, something might come of this, but she would need her dear brothers help. Turning on her paws, her lightly colored form would disappear amongst the snow ridden land, nearly masking her mammoth form. The brute had disappeared from her sights, there was no reason for her to linger and risk getting caught. Perhaps she would track down Demyan, see what trouble he had planned, he wasn't one to turn down mass murder with her. She was nearly giddy with excitment.

There was a rumble in his chest as he realized that the call coming forth seemed quite urgent. He roused instantaneously, fear strickening his chest as he drew in a breath. With a grunt he was on all fours, pushing himself upward and into a stance of leadership. Ears folded back in alarm as he responded with a resounding howl - answering the caller and letting him know he was on his way. With a flash of his tail he was off, bringing himself out into the snow and ice. He recognized the wolf who had called to be Pontifex, though the reason for his urgency was unknown. Gerhardt hated unknowns. With a flicker of his paws he charged forward as quickly as the snow would allow, bringing himself onto the scene in mere minutes. "Pontifex, what is the cause for alarm?" Ears remained pinned to his skull as his lip drew up slightly. If something was the matter, the King would have to deal with it promptly.

The esquire was anxious as he paced back and forth in front of the barn, the snow sloshing around his grey paws. What would the king think if he knew that one of his subjects had been attacked by a pack of rogues? Pontifex was nervous. Would Gerhardt appreciate the fact that he was bringing such important news to him? He didn't know how much longer he could wait for the king before he went out to go look for him himself. The news he had to tell was weighing down on him and he needed to tell his king now. Would the lord want to take a party out to rescue the seracian woman? A relieved sigh slipped past his inky lips as the King's familiar figure came into view, his body tense, able to feel Pontifex's uneasiness. He bowed to the king before rushing to relay the news. Sir, there was a woman at the buffalo knolls, a woman from our pack that was being ambushed. I do not know the conditions of the ambush, but she was severely outnumbered. There were at least three or four wolves attacking her. I would have gone in to rescue her myself, but under the circumstances I saw my aid being more useful in the manner of relaying the events I witnessed to you. He watched the king for a reaction, wondering what he would do about the situation and how he would want to handle it.

Elphaba was lounging lazily when the scream of a howl tore through the air like a sickening crack, snapping her away from her private musings. Without hesitation the dame set off at a gallop. Her elongated limbs carrying her wiry torso at a quick pace. Golden eyes hardened to topaz, emotions fell from her face like summer rain and her countenance became something of serious coldness, a cry like that had not reached her ears in quite some time. Something was wrong.
She approached the area and hid in the shadows, catching the vast majority of the explanation, the only other wolf attending was Gerhardt himself as the stranger, at least to her, explained. His scent told her he was Seracian as did his words, and only when he had finished did her bodice slither forward. Her gaze shifting between the two wolves, before she settled on the one with information, eyes narrowing only slightly. In a voice devoid of any and all emotion she would speak softly. "Can you take us there?" If what the gent said was true, Elphaba would have no problem fighting for this woman, she had been bullied for the past majority of her life, she didn't tolerate it anymore.

His heart leaped into his throat as he examined Pontifex's face and mannerisms. He seemed distraught and worried, which only served to elicit the same emotional responses in the King. His tail flicked idly as his ears remained tucked back, only swiveling forward when the esquire spoke up. A seracian woman was being ambushed and he had come back to alert the rest of the pack. Elphaba came out of nowhere and asked if Pontifex could take them to the place. Gerhardt interjected. "Wait." With a glance at the woman and then back to Pontifex, he posed a question. "What fate befell the woman? And did you smell any packs on the attackers?" It was necessary to get all of the facts before springing into action - even though hesitation could possibly not be the best alternative either. If these were pack wolves this could be a plot to get the King away from the territory - or worse. If they were rogues, they probably just didn't know any better.

He was rather surprised when another showed up on the scene. He had never seen this woman before, but by her smell, she was too another seracian member. Was she another high ranking member like himself? He acknowledged her presence with a slight bow before turning to look at Gerhardt, who had halted the woman's suggestion for him to show them where the event had taken place in order to ask what had happened to the woman. I'm not really sure how the whole attack came to be sir, but she was being mauled by the four wolves. They were tearing into her sir. The smell of blood was heavy in the air, but she was still alive. At least the last I saw of the woman, she was still breathing. I would not know if her state has changed since then. No my lord, all the wolves were rogues. He relayed the information quickly and precisely, knowing that time was of the essence at this point if they were going to make an attempt to rescue to the fallen seracian woman.

Switchback
...and the home of the wolf will be my home.
Switchback kept a constant lope as she neared what appeared to be a large barn. Looking at it she decided that it must be a pretty important place, and also part of the farmlands that Maverick had mentioned earlier. As it zoomed closer to her she examined it's wearing paint and sagging frame, noting that the barn had to be abandoned, and only used by her fellow packmates. As she reached the nearest side she put a paw against it's rough side, feeling it's unnatural texture. Switchback wasn't a fan of man-made objects, and certainly not older ones that looked unsafe. Gathering all her courage, she continued along it's side, telling herself that she would have to get used to it. Taking in deep sniffs as she went she explored the wonderful smells of the place. As she examined the smells one at a time she listed them off in her thoughts, Snow, dead grass buried beneath it, rotting wood, human paint... Gosh this place smells so wonderful! Hm.... what's that smell? Oh I can hardly smell it but I would know that scent anywhere! A cow must have lived her once.
Turning her head Switchback began to take in the scent of her new family, the wolves of Seracia. From the smell of it the pack contained about 20 wolves, and three of the scents seemed very fresh. Padding towards the corner of the barn Switchback prepared herself for meeting new pack members. With a quick lick to the chest and a leap though the air she reached the corner. Stopping to do a quick fur neatness check she perked her ears, hearing wolves voices on the wind. She wasn't close enough to make out what they were saying, but she could tell that they seemed somewhat worried. Not wanting to intrude but not wanting to walk away from a good opportunity to meet more of her new family, Switchback decided to round the corner. She kept her paw steps heavy, not wanting the wolves to accidentally think that she was sneaking up on them.
"H-Hello, I'm Switchback. I'm probably the newest member of the pack, and I just wanted to come and say hi. You guys sounded worried though, so I'm sorry if I'm totally intruding on your conversation, I don't mean to be rude. If you want I'll leave, but I'd also kind of like to know what's going on..." Switchback shifted her paws nervously, flicking her tail under her belly in a submissive posture. She wasn't sure if the wolves would like her sudden appearance, but she was very interested in their concerned conversation. Switchback figured that if it was a pack problem, she should help out in any way possible.
{OOC: Hah sorry that Switch isn't a high ranking Seracian wolf or anything, she was just exploring and I thought it would be interesting if she accidentally ran into you guys (; }
