Autumn had come once more, and the herds were starting to draw their way away from their homes. The would go somewhere warmer, find their way to Auster, take shelter from the cold. She didn't blame them. Fortune liked the cold well enough, but if the threat of being eaten was constantly on her mind... well... she'd like to keep her body as warm as possible. Sleeping alone, too, leaves her cold. The Kaliq doesn't really mind that either. Things were strange, but she was okay with that. Things would always be strange. Even with the thought of Rin on her mind more often than she'd like... she'd push it back for now. The children were getting old enough to train now, so that is what she'd do.

There's a call for them put out, and she stands at joint between their two territories. Loud, but not urgent. An offer. They'd track the herd of swamp deer that called the Willows home, observe their behavior, and see just how much activity it took to scatter them all. That was it. Nothing too wild and crazy for the first day, but Fortune was excited. Children were their greatest resource, after all.

SO what I'm going to do is either put up a second post after three pup responses, or in seven days. <3

Rory had been trailing along the border again trying to copy his mother. He hadn't quite understood how she marked the border, he hadn't ever actually gone on patrol with her yet, but her scent was enough. Maybe if he walked it enough his scent would be a constant thing as well? He was aware his scent wouldn't be nearly as frightening (who was he kidding, he wasn't frightening at all despite the fact he was already mostly full grown) as his ma, but he could pretend! Maybe by the time he was old enough loners would recognize his scent - at the very least Faite would be proud of him for taking initiative.

A howl, not urgent this time, reached his ears and they flicked towards the direction of the noise. He recognized it easily as Fortune and is mouth pulled back into a grin. Oh boy! Normally when she called it was for some training and that kind of distraction that he needed. He did want to learn how to do things and showing up to training was a good start. He padded towards the willows and easily spotted his grey coated aunt. His tail waved behind him and he smiled at her warmly.

"Hey Aunt Fortune. What do you have planned today?" He asked as he sat himself down in front of her.

Breasal was rolled onto his back and was watching the clouds drift by, picking out shapes and interesting things out of their forms. It was a pretty quiet and boring day- at least until he heard Fortune's howl. His ears perked up immediately at that and he was quick to roll onto his paws. Well, that was something to do, right?! He grinned as he trotted off toward the howl. It didn't sound too urgent or anything so he didn't rush, but he didn't waste time either. When he got there he saw that his brother had gotten there already and his tail gave a pleased wag. Awesome! A hunt or something along those lines with Fortune and Rory! And maybe one of their other siblings or one of the other kids would show up too! "Hello!" he greeted cheerfully before settling down next to Rory. He couldn't know what was exactly planned for them today, but he was just happy to have something to do and learn. Sure, cloud watching was fun, but this was way more fun.
