She'd been following a hare, not really hoping to catch it so much as look at its pretty white fur. Dark paws sunk into the snow slowly, trying super hard not to make too much noise. She was getting really close, the world narrowing down only to the tiny twitchy-nosed animal she had her gaze locked onto. Purple and orange gaze sparkling she moved in ever closer, sinking low to the ground. That would prove to be a mistake when she accidentally got low enough for her extra legs to drag against the hard crust of the snow and startle the animal she was following with such rapt attention.

"Come back fuzz butt, lets be friiiends!" she called out, giggling and chasing after the much quicker animal at a bouncing lope. She laughed wildly, fluffy locks of fur being tousled by the frozen winter air as she dashed between the giant red trees without a care in the world, legs thumping at her side.

He didn't like the north, not one bit. Everywhere was cold right now, but here it was especially cold. If there was one thing he could say he hated the most it was being cold. But he had lost track of his father and sisters somehow so he was determined to look high and low for them. The first place on the list was the forest that he and his family had stayed in for a while when they first got here. This is where their main den was for a long time so he figured this was a good place to start. Unless they were out looking for him too. Then maybe they were missing each other. Then this whole thing was useless.

He stopped in his tracks at the thought and frowned. Well, that would suck if that was the case. Before he could consider another possibility he heard someone call out to a "fuzz butt" for them to come back and be friends. One of his eyebrows raised quizzically as his head turned toward the sound in time to see a black and tan marked woman bouncing through the snow like she was still a pup or something. He saw a slight flash of fur as the rabbit she was chasing ran away from her and ducked into a hiding spot.

Pyre walked over to the woman with his brows pulled together like he was trying to solve some really hard problem. "Why would you want to be friends with a rabbit? Aren't rabbits food?" he asked as he got closer. He noticed then that this woman didn't just have four paws. He squinted some more at the extra appendage and reached over toward her with his forepaw to point at the spare limb. "And what's this?"

When the bunny disappeared into a hole under the snow she came to a halt, snow flying up around her, tail wagging while she sniffed the spot and sat back on her haunches. Well, that was fun! But now what should she do, sitting all alone in this land of ice and snow. One notched ear flicked when she heard paw steps approaching. There was her answer not a moment too soon.

Were kids always this straightforward? Was she like that when she was littler? Probably, though she didn't recall it all to well. Grinning at the boy she let her tail sweep across the snow in a friendly manner that matched her generally amiable disposition quite well. "You're quite literal, aren't you?" she chuckled, eyes shining with mirth. "It was... a bit of a joke. Though I guess I could see how one might think I meant it. You know, some wolves have other animals that stay with them as sort of... companions? Though usually not prey like a rabbit."

Ah yes, that did tend to come up. Her polite and welcoming smile never faltered though; the woman was quite used to talking about her little tag-alongs. If they were positioned a bit farther back she could make some stupid joke about being attached at the hip literally. Okay that was silly, probably good she didn't have any good jokes to make or she'd never make friends. "They're legs," she giggled, stating the obvious as though he might have somehow not known it. All in jest of course. "Sometimes wolves are born a bit different from others. You might see someone without a tail, or missing part of a limb." Her tone was quite nonchalant, a side effect of having seen more than few of these individuals in her lifetime. It was quite uncommon in the general populace, sure, but growing up as she had and on top of that having interesting features of her own lessened the impact of how strange such things might be considered. Meissa just didn't notice it anymore. The bold young wolf before her was pretty lucky since she was easily one of the most patient wolves she knew. She never grew tired or impatient unless someone was really, really determined to be a jerk out of malice.

Well, at least she wasn't being serious. He couldn't imagine having something other than a wolf around as a friend. Although maybe if it was something cool like a hawk or a bear or something like that. Something that could hunt for him! That would be helpful. Maybe having a companion like that wouldn't be so bad. Definitely not a rabbit though. If he had a rabbit as a friend he'd never be able to eat dinner in front of it! Ah well, something like that would probably never happen so he didn't have to worry about it.

When the woman explained that they were indeed an extra pair of legs he looked at them doubtfully. He didn't think she was lying, at least he assumed she was being truthful, but he had never met anyone that had a missing tail or missing limb or... extra limbs. It seemed so out of the ordinary and, well, strange. He had a hard time wrapping his head around it. He finally just shrugged and accepted it to be true.

"I'm Pyre, by the way. Who're you?" he asked as he focused back on the woman's face. He may be blunt at times and not quite have a filter, but his dad did force some kind of manners into his head. After she introduced herself he added, "I can be your friend if you want. Ya know, since your rabbit friend didn't work out." It might sound facetious, but it actually came from a real place. He didn't have any friends besides his sisters and that almost didn't count. So why not?

Dropping into a play bow, tail waving gently she chirped, "My name's Meissa!" she held the position, grinning at the younger wolf as he spoke again. Bouncing up to a standing position, she leapt closer in a smooth motion so she landed quite close to him. "I'd like that! Friends are a good thing to have." It had been a while since she made a friend after all.

Straightening up a bit the energetic woman glanced around, notched ears flicking one way and the other. Hmm... Now what? Turning back to the fiery colored boy she asked, "You wanna play a game maybe?" Games were fun, although she didn't actually have an idea of what to do yet.

He smiled a little when she agreed. He didn't know much about her and she was certainly a strange wolf, but a friend was a friend he supposed. She was a lot more energetic and playful than he was used to. Out of his siblings he was the jokester, but Meissa definitely had him beat. Even though he was almost positive that she was older than him it felt like she had all the energy of a pup. It was kind of entertaining in a way.

At her offer of a game he shrugged and nodded in agreement. "Yeah, sure, I like games. What do you wanna play?" If he was being completely honest he was way more excited about the idea of playing a game than he was letting on. But it wasn't cool to jump up and down and be super excited so he just grinned and nodded. He had always been the one to start up the games for him and his sisters, but ever since he had been wandering around on his own for a while now he hadn't had a chance to play any games.
