Meet in by the dry lake

The dark gray wolf with the beautiful jay bird feather behind her ear trotted along the plains of the West. It wasn't long before she reached what others called traveler's lake. Right now it was dry, the mud that was usual there after a rainfall dry and almost crusty by now. She stared down at the large dry patch before lifting her head to look ahead. Nothing much was going on around here as it was pretty barren of canines. The she wolf gave a shallow shrug and trotted along the dry earth. Her paws kicked up some dirt as she traveled. She reached the middle of the empty lake and sat down, wrapping her black tipped tail around her paws. She lifted her head and threw it back into a howl. Her song reached the corners of traveler 's lake as she hoped for a reply of some sort. Kora had gone a while without much social interaction and now she almost craved it. But there wasn't much for her to do about it other then let out her song in hopes of attracting someone, anyone, to find her here.

Dual eyes scanned the perimeter of the landscape in which he resided. The smells of the autumn leaves and trees began to form around his nostrils, breathing in deeply to take in the rich, gentle smells of the land. He had decided to wander back to the lands in which his Mother and family used to reside within. Some hard times have befallen her, and before-long he had been raised by her and his father and wandered off on his own in hopes of starting a new life for himself. Wasn't long after he had to, he had heard that his Mother had passed and went onto a new life herself, but, in a different world. The thought still hurt him, but, Zion knew his mother wouldn't want his mind to keep focusing on what was and just focus on his own future and be happy;so, that was what he was doing now.
His thoughts were soon cut short when a song reverberated within his ears. The tone was rather beautiful to his ears, but, was one of loneliness and longing, perhaps for a companion? His right ear flicked slightly to catch where the howl had originated from. With a quick leap, he bounded over to where the other wolf happened to be.
His eyes would notice the lake that was nearby, scanning left and right for any possible owner to the howl for some time before landing on a femme some distance away. She looked rather nice within the land, for the beautiful colors of the leaves complimented her fur rather well. A small smile spread across his maw. Perhaps she could be a possible friend?
His smile stayed on his maw as he approached her, going slowly a little bit to make sure he didn't startle her as he set his haunches upon the fallen leaves and grasses upon the ground. "Pardon me if I happened to disturb you, Miss, but I heard your call for a possible companion and thought I might be of service to you," He stated, his voice rather formal but held a calm, gentleness within it as his dual eyes of gold and topaz focused on her own to show she had his full attention.

Her cranium lowered as she finished her howl. Her blue eyes closed and reopened as she stared at the ground. She blinked and lifted her head once again and gazed around the dry land. The autumn air was rather crisp and there were a few leaves that soared in front of her before landing at her paws. She offered a tiny smile at the golden leaves. They were quite pretty but then again it signaled winter was coming.
Kora' s ears twitched as she heard pawsteps approaching. They were soft though, quiet even. It was almost alarming but then his voice, a smooth as a river of honey, came from the shadow behind her. "Oh!" She said and spun around to face this new wolf, her tail flicking at the tip. "Hey, sorry, I didn't even know there were anyone else around!" She chuckled softly and dipped her head in proper greeting. "But yes, I would honestly love the company right now. I just got to this land not long ago so everything is rather new to me," Kora admitted and averted her gaze.
When she brought it back, those deep blue eyes studied this bride's form and fur color. He seemed well built and friendly so far. "The name's Kora...and You are?" she asked curiously and titled her head to the left as she awaited an answer from this wolf.

His dual orbs stayed locked upon her own as his smile stayed in place upon his maw. The fresh smells of the autumn breeze sent shivers down the brute's form, but, his main concern right now was the dame that sat a couple feet from where he stood. She seemed rather docile to stay the least, new to the lands as much as he was despite learning a little bit about the lands that were around here. However, he did understand where she was coming from as he watched her avert her gaze from him as a slight chuckle escaped his throat, "No worries, Ma'am, I understand. This place is rather new to me as well I must admit, despite my Mother's teachings of the place and what resides within it. She lived around these lands when she was a pup, so now I suppose I came to live here myself and see what adventures await me," Zion explained, dipping his cranium in a respectful fashion towards the dame. He couldn't help but smile at her sweet nature. There were a lot of wolves whom he had met on his travels who were not as calm and composed as she, thus it was rather hard to get out of most squabbles unscathed.
She would state her name to be Kora. It was rather unique much like his own name, but he nodded once she spoke it before the femme asked his own. "My name's Zion, though my family used to call my Zinny. Feel free to call me whichever you see fit," he explained before shifting his orbs across the landscape. Since Autumn had made its presence known for some time, Winter would be amongst them soon, which would make things much harder to find any source of sustenance. Perhaps it might be best to go on a possible hunting trip if she would wish to accompany him as his eyes shot back to Kora. "Perhaps you would like to join me on a hunt? I have not been on these lands long myself as I stated previously, so maybe it would be fun and would also give us some sort of meal to hold us over a bit, if you would like?" He asked, his tail wagging slightly as his cranium shifted to the side, waiting for a response.

Zion...so that was this wolf's name. It was unique, definitely something she hadn't heard before...and she liked that. Unique names almost always revealed unique characters. A small smile crossed her black lips as they folded back to reveal nice white teeth. No, this wasn't a snarl but more of a toothy grin one could say. Kora felt pretty relaxed as of right now despite the fact that she had encountered a stranger who could do whatever he wanted to her. But Kora knew somehow that he wouldn't harm her, just as she would do her best not to harm him.
Upon his request, Kora seemed to work up. Her deep blue eyes lit up at the thought of hunting something and filling her belly. "Hunting huh? Why I'd love to!" she exclaimed in a cheerful yet controlled manner. Almost immediately the she wolf rose to her paws and gave her tail a little wag. "You said you kinda know this place right? So do you know of good hunting grounds?" Kora asked curiously and followed his head, tilting her cranium in the same direction as his. "I'm honestly a little rusty with hunting as it has been a while for larger animals, but it should be easier with a partner by my side," she chuckled and studied the barren lake as off searching for a target that she knew wouldn't be around here yet.

His eyes focused on the young woman as a toothy grin of his own appeared upon his maw. His nostrils flared up at any possible scent, however, the only smells he was able decipher were the oak and maple trees, and the dried up leaves that were around them. He couldn't help but find the dame that he was going to be hunting with rather fascinating to the eye, however, he had only just met her and didn't wish to ruin their meeting with his flirtatious demeanor. It was always his downfall when it came to some certain things. But, he was relieved that his hunting invitation had been accepted and with high spirits as well. Her giddy nature, even though controlled, made Zion utter a slight chuckle at the antic before drawing his attention around the area.
He had been on some of these locations long to know about some favorable hunting spots, however, it doesn't mean they could look around here and see if there was anything that caught their fancy to try and take down. His dual orbs soon darted to Kora as his smile stayed upon his face, "We could possibly go looking around here. It would at least give us a chance to know each other a little more before we find anything that seems worthy of our time. I mean, I am still new here too so, if there are more prey around certain locations I would have to do more scouting and visit other areas to find out," He grinned in embarrassment. The tri-colored male did feel rather worthless considering she was new here too, but, they could become possible friends later on through this endeavor.

Kora liked the idea of getting to know this brute a little more as it seemed they would be suck together for a period of time. Though either of them could leave at any time, but Kora had little to no intentions on abandoning this wolf. She found him rather interesting at the moment and decently attractive with his tricolor fur and lovely eyes. Kora figuratively shook her mind to clear it of those thoughts. The focus now was on finding food. Her stomach, after all, reminded her that they needed to hunt and soon.
So Kora drifted her mind and attention to Zion as he spoke. She tossed her head which made her blue jay feather flutter at the action. "No problems here my friend," she said softly and gazed in multiple directions. "That just means we can explore the areas together and like you said, get to know each other more. You wouod be the first wolf I encountered so far." Kora picked a direction and began walking, her light gray paws leading the way for the both of them. The she wolf glanced back momentarily to make sure Zion was following. "So tell me about yourself," she began. "Where did you come from originally? What is Zion like? What does he like to do?" Questions swarmed her mind about this mysterious brute and she honestly wanted answers to all but knew it was impolite to ask too many.

His eyes definitely shown a hint of relief after hearing the femme's words. Relaxation began to run through his form at the thought of just exploring the locations and to see if there was any possible prey animals within the region they resided in. Zion kept remembering the mental notes that his Mother stated to him: to always move forward and provide for those who needed it. Right now, Kora was a friend, and judging from her stomach, she was the one that needed some sort of sustenance as much as he. With Winter just around the corner any sort of prey that they encounter will help them throughout it once the snow began to fall and make things much worse for them. But, his thoughts soon were swiped away from his mind as Kora began to move in a general direction as he followed her. She was a rather kind individual, and it definitely made him happy to see someone like her.
'So tell me about yourself' She asked him, thinking about it for some time. However, when he was just about to answer, several more questions began to be fired back at him. The tri-colored brute couldn't help but chuckle when he heard them, but, he smiled gently and began to think about the other questions she asked as well. "Well, I was not raised from these lands unlike my Mother. I'm really unsure as to where I was born and raised, but, I wanted to come back here and start a family of my own someday," Zion spoke, his tail swaying from side-to-side at the thought. Though he was still young and had plenty of time to think about family, the idea of it really did excite him to an extent. But, he would continue to answer the other questions that Kora had set up for him to answer. "I really like to go out and explore the lands that I encounter. Mainly I don't stay around in once place for too long, but, I still try to take care of the other wolves whom need assistance before I continue onward to my next destination. But, some say that I can also be a bit of pup at times, being playful and try to joke around as much as I can to lighten someone's mood." He stated, giving a rather toothy grin at his statement. "But what about you? What do you like to do?"
