Two Birds With One Stone

At least Brandr had called for a hunt. It would be better to have a small but active pack than a large, lazy one.
As Sparrow approached, she scented that this male was an alpha. She offered him a smile as she closed the gap between them.
"Hello, I'm Sparrow Destruction, alpha of Abaven." She paused as she came to a stop in front of the male.
"By scent, I'm guessing you're also an alpha?" Sparrow said, a light smirk tugging at her maw.
"To what do I owe the pleasure?"
It didn't take long for someone to arrive. And it certainly wasn't what he expected. A woman came wandering out from the territory, and as she approached she introduced herself as Sparrow Destruction, the...alpha? What? He stood there for a moment, speechless. This tiny woman was the...alpha? It was completely unexpected. Where was the man his mother spoke so much about? The confusion was plain on his face, and it took him a moment to compose himself. He had been pretty shocked to the point that he almost missed her questions, but as soon as he got himself together he managed to find his voice. "I er, yeah, I am an alpha.." Confusion colored his voice, but he didn't bother trying to hide it. "Where's uh...Bass?"
"ROAR"

He asked where Bass was.
Oh boy.
"Well, he's no longer with Abaven," she said. "So make of that what you will."
Honestly she just really didn't want to talk about her father running off. This male was an alpha anyway, so it's not like he needed to know all of the inner workings of Abaven.
"Sorry to disappoint, but it's just me now," she said, though her tone was unapologetic. Obviously the male was more than surprised enough and Sparrow thought about what herbs she might need to administer to help with the shock. In her head, Sparrow giggled. Healer jokes were the best.
Sparrow wondered what this male alpha wanted. Was it something to do with the pack relations?
She explained briefly that Bass was no longer in the pack, and he was even more confused. Oh boy, his mom would not be happy to hear that...what would she even make of it? The two had been incredibly close, and now her friend wasn't around anymore? He had so many questions now but he decided now wasn't the best time to ask. Besides, what were the chances that she'd tell him anyway? They didn't exactly know each other.
Shaking himself out of his brief stupor, he dipped his head with apology. "No, it's no disappointment at all. I was just...surprised. My mother who was the former alpha before me was really close to Bass, so it's kind of...shocking? I guess? That he's not around anymore." He shrugged a bit, "My mom talked about him a lot, and she made frequent trips to visit him since..." Okay, maybe he shouldn't say anymore. His mother knew all about Bass' old mate and the weight that had fallen on the old alpha's shoulders, but it wasn't Dragon's place to talk about it. "Anyway, my name is Dragon Ancora, alpha of Talis. I was in the area visiting an old friend who runs another pack, so I decided to come by and see how Abaven was doing. Since I took over the pack, I haven't been out to establish relationships or anything, and although Abaven was an ally to my mother's pack, I decided now I'd have the chance to stop by and say hello."
He looked at her, quietly assessing what kind of wolf she might be. Was she anything like Bass? Or was she completely different? "Anywho, it's nice to meet you Ms. Sparrow. My apologies if my confusion got us off to a bad start." |
