I Did It for the Lulz

With a squelch the mutant alligator's head hit the ground. Its oblong shape kept it from rolling so it simply lay there, rocking slightly from side to side, its upturned eye staring at her balefully. "Alright, ya slimy bastard," she muttered at it. "Gotta be difficult in death too, huh?" Kanja had been holding it by the nose, but it was just heavy enough that she worried about boogering up its snoot even if her grip was gentle, so she'd switched to holding it by the dangly bits that hung out of its neck. Needless to say the dangly bits she'd been holding onto had torn free. Grumpily she glared down at the head. Honestly she wasn't sure what she was going to do with it. Keeping it in cold water would preserve it for awhile, but it wasn't a lasting solution. However, it would buy her some time. Kanja knew preserving it was a long shot, but Ashmedai had told her about how his mother had kept a lion's tail as a trophy and that had given her hope. She rather liked the idea of pulling this bad boy out and showing it off or, in the case of Ashmedai, using it to ward the big oaf off. He'd seemed thoroughly disgusted by the head so she figured if there ever came a day when he was harassing her, she could simply drag the head out and toss it at him. One good whack with a manky gator head and he'd surely run for the hills. With a forepaw Kanja rolled the head around so she could stare at its neck stump. Among the sinew and blood she could see a glimmer of bone. That, she decided, was a better handle than the throat so without another thought she dug her teeth in and fished around until she had the nearest vertebra gripped firmly in her teeth. With her grip sorted out, Kanja straightened and resumed her jaunt towards Abaven. Right outside its border was the den she'd been staying in off and on, and right beside it was a slow moving river. She could leave the head in there while she figured out what to do with it. And it would probably be a good idea to bathe too, since she had blood and little gator bits smeared all over her face and chest. |
