I Saw It In The Window And I Just Had To Have It [Lolaf Spar]

Snow fell in slow flakes across the battefield. A light snow dusted the terrain and he had a feeling this would be one of the few snows left before spring arrived. Ashiel was amazed at how swiftly time was moving. Soon he'd be ready to take the plunge and start his own pack. However, before then he needed to get more practice battling the creatures of this realm. They fought in ways he needed to learn and understand. So, Ashiel had trekked north to train and when he'd found a smooth area he threw back his head and howled for an opponent. He had no idea who might answer the call, whether mortal or spirit, but he was up for anything. Ashiel was desperate to prove himself and that meant practice. Ashiel rolled his shoulders lightly forward and stretched to limber up. Shaking the snow from his coat he waited.
Torin strode northward with a purpose, it had been some time since his last fight and the boy was eager to once more try and prove himself. He knew he would need to keep practicing and training if he was to succeed Frostbite. He wanted nothing more than to be a strong leader for his pack, one who would not back down from a fight if it meant the safety of his own were on the line. A call reached his ears, a familiar call for a challenge. The boy turned his attention towards the call, he would answer it if no one else had yet. And indeed it seemed he would be the one to answer it, he drew in the image of a slightly taller wolf, a yearling by the looks of him. Good so they'd be near even then. "You seek a challenge?" He spoke, his deep tones even and almost uninterested. Though he was watching the other boy with intensity, he was already working his mind to try and figure out exactly what his game plan would be. |

Ashiel was pleased to see his call answered as a slightly older male approached him. The man was of a more moderate build but close to Ashiel in height and he hoped it would make for a fairly even match. His fight with Inverno had been enlightening and he knew these mortals could put up a hell of a fight when the wanted to. The man spoke in a lackadaisical fashion and Ashiel curtly nodded his head. "That is why I called. My name is Ashiel Abraxas, what is yours?" He grinned. Hopefully this mortal would be enough of a challenge to satisfy his need for battle. He certainly seemed to be an intense fellow. There was none of the usual bluster he could expect from others he ran across.
Ashiel moved to face Torin, leaving a space of about ten feet between them and inclining his head to the other male to see if this was acceptable. Quickly he set his defenses. "Do you wish to make the first move or shall I?"

Torin watched the boy as he spoke, his face unmoving even as the stranger grinned. "Torin Adrevendi-Valentine." He spoke plainly. The other yearling offered no further information and so neither did Torin, he certainly wants eager to go blabbing his pack and rank to any given stranger and even less so o e who smelled of others, though it was no pack scent he recognized. As Ashiel set his own defenses so too did Torin. His lips quirking slightly as he felt his body responded. His wounds from his last fight had all but disappeared at this point and he felt more confident now than he had when facing Frostbite. "You may make the first move." He stated, bracing himself slightly and watching Ashiel with a careful eye. What might he learn this time? Round 0/??? |

The man introduced himself as Torin. Ashiel filed the name away for later as the other stated that he could make the first move. Ashiel nodded and quickly checked his defenses. He lowered his head and tail to align with his spine. His shoulders rolled forward, his neck scrunching back to push fur and fat over his vitals. His chin tucked slightly and his hackles stood on end, lacing down his back. He spread his limbs equidistant apart, bending his kneeds slightly to lower his center of gravity. His weight settled equally across his limbs as his toes splayed, claws digging into the earth. His ears would pin tightly to his head as his eyes narrowed at the man.
Ashiel took a deep breath in and exhaled. He allowed his mind to clear and any nerves to settle before he exploded toward Torin. He tried to close the distance in a rush, attempting to come at Torin at a forty-five degree angle toward the front of Torin's right shoulder. He attempted to throw his weight behind the front of his left shoulder as he sought to slam it into the side of Torin's right shoulder, directly into the deltoid muscle which lay about halfway between the point of his shoulder and his elbow. Ashiel wanted to hit the muscle with enough force to cause the muscle to seize as well as leave serious bruising. As he moved his weight would shift to his front left leg and his hind legs as he sought to lift his right forepaw and shoot it forward in an attempt to catch the back of Torin's right paw and jerk it towards himself. It was a move he sought to coordinate with his shoulder throw, seeking to get the other man off balance. At the same time Ashiel's head swung to his own right, jaws parting as he attempted to catch Torin's throat. His upper fangs sought a hold behind the right side of Torin's jaw, a few inches above the corner, and his lower fangs sought to reach beneath Torin's throat for a grip just behind the corner of Torin's lower left jaw. He sought to squeeze the man's windpipe with enough force to choke him but not enough to crush the windpipe or do any irreparable damage.

Torin, shifted on his toes slightly, assuring his head was tucked, his spine aligning, tail flagging out behind him. He narrowed his eyes, ears pulling back flat against his skull. His hackles raised and as he watched his opponent Torin rolled his shoulders forwards slightly in a mimic of Ashiel's movement. Torin stopped shifting and splayed his toes and bent his knees, feeling assured he had a solid base. Ashiel rushed him and Torin braced, and then- Impact. Torin grunted as pain laced up his shoulder as Ashiel's attack hit true, his shoulder felt weak and Torin took a single stumbling step back, Ashiel's swipe connecting with the middle of his right foreleg, dull claws digging shallow scratches into the front of it. Almost out of instinct more than anything else Torin moved slightly forwards and sidestepped in towards Ashiel's chest. Torin's jaws parted and he extended his neck downwards and to the left, grasping for purchase on Ashiel's retreating foreleg, hoping to catch Ashiel's right leg at the wrist. As he did so Ashiel's own teeth, having missed his throat with Torin's lunge, instead connected with his right ear, tearing a painful rip along the right outer rim. Grunting in pain but keeping his own attempted grab steady Torin shifted his weight so as to lift his front right paw and then tried to bring it down hard on Ashiel's left forepaw, seeking to slam his weight onto the other yearling's toes. They collided brutally as Ashiel's left shoulder slammed into the front of Torin's right shoulder right where he wanted. Light bruising would spread across the front of Ashiel's left shoulder as payment for the strike but he was pleased with it. The impact sent Torin stumbling back though and this caused Ashiel's right forepaw to miss it's target and instead scrape harmlessly across the middle of Torin's right foreleg. He swiftly retracted his paw to his chest as he saw Torin's fans dive for it but he wasn't quite fast enough as the man's teeth tore moderate lacerations on either side of his wrist. Thankfully though, Ashiel was fast enough that the other could not gain a hold.
With Torin ducking Ashiel's fangs would miss their mark and instead tear into his right ear tearing reasonable lacerations into the flesh. He to would fail to gain a hold. Ashiel's tail would fling out behind him like a rudder, his abdomen tensing as his hind legs spread out wide to aid his balance as Ashiel tried to throw his forelegs up and around the base of Torin's neck. He sought for his left foreleg to wrap around the right side of Torin's neck while the right one would seek to wrap under and around to the left side of Torin's neck. In front of his shoulders. The movement would cause Torin's paw stomp to miss.
Ashiel's jaws would launch forward and down as he twisted his head in, attempting to dig his fangs into the outside of Torin's right shoulder, where the bottom of the shoulder connected to the upper arm. He wanted to dig his fangs in deep and get a solid hold. His hackles remained raised, his ears pinned tight to his head as his hind toes spread, nails biting into the dirt to aid his balance. His shoulders rolled forward naturally as he tried to lift his arms.

Ashiel pulled his paw back suddenly and while Torin felt his fangs tear at the flesh on either side of Ashiel's wrist he had been denied the hold he sought. Ashiel was moving, too fast for Torin to retract his stomp and instead his paw hit empty ground with enough force to cause an audible thump and a puff of dirt. Torin's head started to lift, returning to the position it held before his lunge, even still he felt a weight drop on the base of his neck, Ashiel's limbs wrapping around his neck. Torin's gaze snapped towards Asheil's hind legs, noticing his balance. With a grunt Torin rocked his weight towards Ashiel, hoping to unbalance him. Fangs buried themselves in the flesh at the base of Torin's right shoulder, just at the joint of his arm, Ashiel's grip was solid and there was no doubt that his skin had been punctured. Gritting his teeth, Torin coiled the muscles in his hindquarters, toes splayed, he released his tension in an actual push towards his right, his whole weight now put behind an attempt to topple Ashiel, he was committed, if Ashiel went over so would Torin, hopefully with the whole of his weight behind him.
