If the Plateau was creepy for the air it held and the atmosphere that swirled around the place, Selene didn't know the first thing to think about the Buffalo Knolls.  Something hung in the air here, too, but it was far... more peaceful?  She didn't know.  Hallowed ground, if she'd ever felt it.  The strange structures that jutted from the ground, some of them existing for long enough to grow trees... she'd felt this feeling before, but here?  In Boreas?  How could something like this exist here.  That, and the structures themselves were different.   She's in a state of hyper awareness as she moves through the Knolls.  The moonscorned is thankful for the daylight that hangs warmly around her shoulders, savoring what may well be the last of her good autumn days.  The winter would come soon, and she would need to be immensely careful.  Being alone, especially as someone so small, was dangerous.  Her brain was in overtime, paying mind to the last lingering buffalo where they stood.  Based on the direction of the wind, the few strays had not even smelled her yet.  They simply stood and grazed, and Selene would not disturb them.  Too large.  Too dangerous.  Had to be careful.   "Talk" "You" Think

She was out exploring again, out enjoying the autumn air and getting more adventures in before the cold hit. She looked forward to winter and the chance to bound through snow banks for the first time on her lengthy yearling legs, however, for now she was more inclined to want to travel as far as her legs would carry her. Someday she'd explore the whole world! It would be super amazing, and then Caelestis could brag about being a navigator extraordinaire. Yeah, almost as good as 'Ultimate fighting champion of the world'. Hell, why not both?

There was a carefree, youthful air to the girl as she raced along the knolls. A few times she would lock her legs and slide down the little hills, somersaulting her way to the end, then collecting herself and zipping up the other side to do it again. Her game only ceased when she heard te sound of snorting buffalo on the other side of the knoll she was walking up. Her pace slowed to creeping walk as she tried to get a better look without disturbing whatever animals were over there. As she crested the hill, Caelestis drew a sharp breath.

Those things were giant!

The snorting, pawing, grazing beasts lumbered around unconcerned as they hadn't smelled her. Dipping her head down and nestling her body in the grass as best she could, Caelestis watched with interest. What would it even be like to try and chase these things down? Could you eat them? They were way different from the deer she saw far more regularly.

It's funny, Selene is the same way. She'll show the whole entire world, she'll be the navigator extraordinaire. In the time she'd spent in Boreas before taking her leave, she hadn't even begun to scratch the surface. Maybe that portion of unfinished business brought her back, lit her with a renewed fire to see the all the continent had to offer. That, and the strange world that was Auster. That was different, and she was cool with that. There was so much to see and so much to explore. In Selene's heart, she knew she could take it all. She'd do it all. Be it all. See it all. With high steps, she investigates the Knolls. Nose to the ground, taking a deep breath of all the scents this place had to offer. They were all so different, all so new. Some things had changed, but not enough to make her feel any less than at home here. Tail wagging loosely behind her, Selene scents the earth, the wind, and the world around her. Maybe a part of her still aches for the son of Fiori, her red savior. More than a part. That's beside the point. A young girl appeared on the edge of her consciousness, and Selene's tail wagged softly. It was always interesting to see others out and exploring. There were too few buffalo here to be a threat, the child would be safe so long as she didn't get too close. The moonscorned would keep an eye out, but for now there was exploration to be had. Around the Knolls and their strange, strange structures. Everything was lovely. "Talk" "You" Think

Slowly but surely, the watching of the big, huffing beasts that snorted and munched on grass and not much else grew boring. Yeeah, these things weren't that cool. Impressively big, but they didn't really do a whole lot. Not that she really knew what she wanted them to do. Just more, something cool. Rolling onto her side, the child gazed up at the slowly moving clouds for a while. It was pretty out here, and the clouds looked cool, all fluffy like bunny tails.

Her attention was soon drawn back to the herd when something seemed to spook them and the animals went charging through the valleys between knolls, racing off away from whatever upset them. They were way cooler when they were running. It sounded like thunder, and she could feel it in her bones, pounding through her chest as the ground almost shook with their passing.

It was good that they disappeared, because she managed to suddenly lose her composure and balance for no apparent reason, rolling sideways down the knoll until she came to rest where the giant beasts had been grazing not long before. Looking at the sky as she laid there a while, Caelestis found herself thinking about how the heavens seemed even father away now, with the knolls on either side of her making the vast blue expanse seem that much more unreachable.

Righting herself at last, the girl shook out her pelt before looking around, still intent on exploring. She spotted a figure a ways off and barked loudly in greeting, shifting from almost to calm to bursting with excitement in an instant. "Hey, what're you doin here? Are you adventuring too?" she called out.

Selene found the buffalo to be pretty cool. They were hulking beasts that survived on the fact that they were colossal, and pretty much that virtue alone. Migratory creatures that had their patterns ingrained so deeply in their systems, they followed them without seeming to know why. It was incredible, and Selene didn't really know how to feel about it other than a sheer sense of awe. Those were the feelings resting in the back of her mind as she explored the knolls, tail wagging loosely at her haunches. The mounds that seemed to spring from the ground around her, they were... so strange. Everything was strange, and she was enchanted by it. They roamed. They roamed on, thundering off into the distance. Selene would blame the shift in wind, pulling her scent toward them. Yes, they were a scary thing to be chased by. She wouldn't like to be on the receiving end of that. It was the opposite direction, far away into the great blue nowhere. How strange it was that they would come and go, just as she did. Maybe they had explorers of their own. Her thoughts wandered on the subject, pulled back by a small voice. "I am in fact!" Selene's tail wagged amiably as her head dipped toward the child. An excited one at that, all jitters. A young female, not much younger than the moonscorned when she'd first arrived here. Those had been the days... the young woman was barking. Selene couldn't help but smile. "Have you ever seen anything like this? It's crazy!" Her remark was filled with a soft chuckle, taking in everything around her. How... how wonderful. "Awesome," the girl breathed, excited energy flowing through her at the thought of meeting someone else who was exploring for the fun of it. There weren't all that many wolves in Abaven - at least to Caelestis' knowledge - that lived to go out on adventures. Prancing closer to ease the conversation, Caelestis beamed at the darker woman, mirroring the friendly tail wags.

Shaking her head vigorously, the yearling would giggle, "No, I've never been this far, but I guess I ought to come this way more. It is amazing!" As energy filled her the young woman would drop into a half bow, then on impulse she would go tearing across the knoll, running as fast as she could and calling over her shoulder, "Race me!" It was a beautiful day, the weather was great, what better time to find oneself flying across the rolling hills for the hell of it. Whether she won or not hardly mattered, it was all fun and games for the spirited young woman.

There was something awesome hanging in the air, Selene agreed. A soft bark crosses her lips, approval, agreement, something like that. Her eyes were bright, glimmering with excitement. Everything about her was electric and alive. Interacting with not-quite adults was way easier. Hell, the moonscorned hardly thought of herself as an adult anyway. Selene matches the girl's bow, wiggling. The wiggle is something that she can't help, she's too excited. "I'm coming for ya!" Selene chirped brightly after the girl, digging her paws in and throwing herself across the ground. If there was one thing that could be said for the rather fragile looking girl, it was her speed. What she was good at. Fleet of foot and keen of eye. It's electric. The world tumbled around her, a mess of greens in the hills. There was no better way to learn the lay of the land than to explore it, to feel it under your paws. Everything was beautiful. Selene's breathing was hard as she caught up, close on the young stranger's tail. Baring joyfully... a joyful noise. There always was. It lived inside her, and was brought to life in places like this. How lovely. "Talk" "You" Think

The darker woman called back, giving chase as Caelestis growled and barked and zipped across the seemingly endless expanse of grass and hills fast as her legs would go. Her mismatched eyes were wide with joyful wonder as she watched the world around her, pace slowing for a moment as some yellow-breasted birds went soaring up from the grass ahead of her, chirping indignantly at the running wolves. Puffy white clouds rolled lazily across the sky, some of them looking like funny shapes. What a great day!

In the midst of her appreciation of the wonderful world around her the girl had slowed down, but upon realizing this she kicked off and raced hard over the next knoll. The older woman was gunna pass her any second! Of course, she would have regardless because the youth was losing steam. After cruising her way down the other side of the knoll, she had to stop in the valley before the next one, huffing and puffing and sucking in tired breaths. "I give, no more running!" she laughed between gasps, falling on her side and rolling and kicking about through the greenery the second she could breathe well enough to do so. Eyeing the woman from her upsidedown position, Caelestis asked, "What's your name? I'm Caelestis." Her lungs were done, but the girl still had energy, so she rolled over once before landing on her other side and grinning like a fool. It was hard to sit still when being alive and wiggling about felt so good!
