Uncle Gabe had brought her further down to look for herbs which had actually managed to get her to be excited about heading south again; so much so she'd worked up the courage to wander off on her own while her uncle was napping. And she knew exactly where she'd want to go, they'd past it on their way and she'd been drawn by the brilliant hues of color blooming from the trees she'd seen.

Now Darya padded happily under the budding, pink blooms, hellfire gaze turned skyward and her jaw open as she drew in the sights around her. A pale pink petal floated down towards her face and more out of instinct than anything else; she snorted at it, pushing it back up into the air. A giggle pulled from her lungs and she chased after the petal pushing it back up into the air any time it got close enough to her face. For the first time in a long time a smile was pulled across her face and she was enjoying herself, playing with pup like abandon.

His father had left the den early again; his once protective father who had watched his every movement growing up had become distant shortly after the boy turned 1 year old. Rain had never asked why, sure that he already knew the answer: He was nearly a man. By his age his father had founded his pack. His first pack as the stormy male had insisted. Rain by comparison was nothing. A sniveling boy who had grown up clinging to his father. Privately Rain wondered if he would have been a different man had Tyranis not been in his life. Perhaps Rain would have grown up to be bolder, and more independent like his sire. He huffed desolately at the thought.

The sound of giggling lifted his ears, his head cocking to the side as he followed the sound, his small body hiding easily behind the trunks of the trees. At the sight of the femme his breath caught in his throat. She was gigantic! She was larger than his father, larger than any wolf he had ever seen and yet her body still held the awkward proportions of a juvenile. He shrank back, cowering and attempted to back away, his tail tucked and his ears flat. He moved slowly, one leg after another, and then; ”CRACK”. He felt his blood drain as he looked at his back paw, and the broken remnants of a twig that he had stepped on. Slowly, he turned back to look at the woman, now exposed, standing stalk straight and alert with fear.

Darya was completely unaware she was being watched, to wrapped up in her childish play to notice the approach of another wolf, that was until a loud crack pieced the air and suddenly she stopped. Freezing slightly, her gaze swinging around to where the sound had come from. The petal drifted lazily down to the ground, finally resting near her paws but in this moment her game was forgotten.

Standing a bit of a ways off was another young wolf, and Darya couldn't help the whine that pulled from her lips. He was tiny, and looked about as fearful as she felt but that didn't help to ease the young woman. She pulled her ears back, tucking her tail and took a few cautious steps back from the young man though her eyes remained glued on him, watching for any movement from him towards her.

Darya had not met a strange wolf in months, the last that were close to her own age had been when she was a pup and for that reason her frame of reference was skewed. Sure her uncle Gabe was shorter than her but not by much, and she hadn't seen her mother much. Dom and Marvel seemed shorter than herself but not nearly as much as this young man before her; and the part of brain that wasn't enveloped in fear was curious as to the difference in their sizes.

He was surprised when the giant wolf turned and froze and then crouched low in a fearful submission. She was afraid of him?! she looked like she could have eaten him whole  he alternated between looking at the ground and looking at her, a nervous whine escaping him. Carefully, cautiously, he raised his head, a tremble working up his legs as he did. “Uh…Hi.” He muttered with an unsure smile. Rain had never seen a wolf his own age before, much less seen one on his own, it was exciting in a way but with another wolf nearly twice his size he was more frightened than anything else.

He turned his head left and right, suddenly gripped by a new fear; what if she wasn't alone? What if she was part of a pack? “Where's your dad?” He asked softly, one ear flattening while keeping the other raised.

Darya watched the boy with caution, unsure the whole time. The stranger seemed just as unsure and while that might have put another wolf at ease it did little to calm the skull marked girl's fears. Finally the silence was broken by his nervous speech. "эм." She stammered, "Hullo." She spoke softly, her accent thick even still.

She noted the sudden shift into more fear on his part and Darya suddenly shot a glance over each of her shoulders looking for whatever threat had caught his attention. He asked her another question and she slowly pulled her fiery gaze back towards him, she thought for a moment. She had been taught much of the common language by Olya and even more still from Mammon who had decided it was quote: "About fuckin' time you learned." Still sometimes when she wasn't focused things took a little longer to process, not as long as they used to however.

"Hee's up Nort." She didn't exactly want to give away her dad's location, even if she wasn't exactly happy with him still. There was caution in her answer, was he concerned about making sure she was alone for any nefarious purposes? She would not mention her uncle who was likely waiting for her return.

"Whear es youres?" She returned the question to him.

speech Thought You

He relaxed slightly, letting his ears rise cautiously “Mine’s East of here.” He said with a faint smile. The girl’s accent was strange, but not intelligible, the thought that she might be with another relative never even crossed his mind and as he grew confident that no one would suddenly appear and attack him he found himself fully able to relax.  “My name’s Rain, what’s yours?” He asked, allowing the end of his tail to beat against the petal strewn floor.

Without waiting for a reply Rain continued to speak, easing from a shy smile to a soft grin as he did. “My father and I just came here a few weeks ago, but we’re already in a pack, he says the leader is my grandfather but I don’t know, my father always told me he never knew his father and that I should be grateful-“ The boy rambled on endlessly, an open book now that he had gotten comfortable and could talk freely.
