Morning dawned cooler than most for the summer but Valdís found the shift in weather refreshing. She knew sooner or later it would heat up again and she'd be left longing for the dew-drenched morning hours. Slipping out from her den she moved to find a good place for a spar. Since the meeting she'd been meaning to call Ferrous to her for a spar and perhaps some training though she never really considered herself much of a teacher. Either way she wouldn't really know what the girl knew until they battled against one another. Well, there was no time like the present. Tipping back her head she howled for Ferrous. Ferrous was quick to heed the call of her packmate. It was still weird to think that she had packmates, but she was going to have to get over it if she was going to fit in. And this one, this Valdis, seemed pretty cool. She was warrior-y and badass, and Ferrous was hoping a little of that magic would wear off on her. Not that she'd probably ever look like anything other than a cute little pixie, but she could try. It'd be a nice look to add to her repertoire. "Hey, Valdis." Damn, she thought as she studied her packmate. The woman was bigger than Ferrous remembered. Never mind that Valdis was a trained fighter, all she would have to do is sit on her and Ferrous would be powerless to free herself. "Speaking" - "Thinking" - "You"

Valdís was nervous but she didn't show it. She didn't want to let on that this would be her first time teaching anything to another and that she might not be cut out for it. Perhaps that's why she wanted to work through a good old-fashioned spar with the girl before moving on to the areas she could improve in. Of course, to Valdís, this was also just good common sense. Ferrous seemed like a tough girl who already had some experience in battle and Valdís did not want to discredit her by treating her like a pup. Ferrous was quick to respond and punctual. Valdís grinned. That was a good trait. A warrior always needed to be ready to be called into battle. "Hello, Ferrous. Good to see you. I hope you are well?" It felt like so long since she'd socialized. After the fall of Talis she'd kept to herself. It was hard to get invested in a pack when one by one they toppled nearly back to back. "I thought we could start training today. I need to get an idea of where your skills are at and I thought we could start with a practice spar. Does that sound good to you?" "Talk" "You" Think

While she was certainly up for the challenge, Ferrous couldn't get the image of Valdis flattening her out of her head. She wasn't expecting to win, but she was confident that she knew enough to make a good impression. At the very least she hoped she wouldn't come across like a pup fresh off the tit. Ferrous grinned crookedly and said, "Sounds perfect. You wanna start or you want me to?" While she didn't immediately adopt a fighter's stance, Ferrous tensed slightly. She still gave the overall appearance of nonchalance, but she was ready to leap forward at a moment's notice. "Speaking" - "Thinking" - "You"

"I can start." She supposed it didn't really matter to much, who started and who didn't. She'd be able to assess the girls defenses and attacks either way. Valdís defenses fell quickly into place. SKull and tail lowered to align with her spine, her chin tucked slightly and her neck scrunched back as her shoudlers rolled forward, pushing fur and fat over her vitals. Hackles rose sharply as limbs spread equidistant apart, bending slightly to lower her center of gravity as well as evenly distribute her weight. Toes splayed as claws dug into the earth.  Jaws parted, eyes narrowed and ears pinned tight to her head. It had been awhile since she'd done just a training match, she wanted to attack the girl with as much ferocity as was needed so that she was no stranger to the violence of battle. However, she didn't want to risk doing permanent damage either. It was a line she was not sure how to walk but there was only one way to learn how. Powerful limbs beat into the ground as Valdís launched herself toward Ferrous. She aimed to approach the girl almost directly head on but slightly to her own left so that her right shoulder would align with the girls nose. She sought to drive the front portion of her right shoulder into the girls nose to caused a significant amount of pain. Valdís was also hoping to drive the lower portion of her chest into the front of Ferrous' left shoulder, hard enough to jolt Ferrous back and make her stumble. In a swift, fluid motion Valdís would seek to live her left forepaw, redistributing her weight amongst her three grounded limbs. In the same movement as her shoulder throw and chest slam she sought to bring her left forepaw down on top of the toes of Ferrous' left forepaw. She sought to pin the toes and cause bruising. As a smaller opponent, Ferrous would need to utilize an advantage with agility. If the girl already didn't know to be light on her feet, she'd soon learn. Valdís finished off her assault by rotating her head to her left and lunging her head downward, maw wide, as she sought to grab hold on the middle of Ferrous' muzzle. Her upper fangs sought to dig into the right side of the girls muzzle with Valdis' bottom teeth directly across from the top ones on the left side of the girls muzzle. She wanted to obtain a strong grip from which she could control Ferrous' head and hopefully avoid getting nipped out right in the process of their spar. She wanted to see how Ferrous would react to a full barrage of attacks, not just a simple bite here or there.
