Sparkles and Junk

Her patrol had led her further south than usual as her nose caught the scent of a sick mule deer wandering into the estuary. She considered setting up a hunt to bring the beast down— with winter drawing ever nearer, the pack needed all the stored food they could get.

She trailed the beast's meandering path deeper and deeper into the estuary, ears alert or any sign of danger yo herself, but stopped as she came to the end of the trail to find that a hunt would not be needed. At her paws lay the deer, already dead. It appeared the illness had taken it's toll. From what she could smell, the sickness it had succumbed to would not affect wolves, so she rejoiced at the bounty.

Then her eyes lifted amd she dream a breath of surprise, gazing up at the tree the deer had died under. Every bough and branch glittered with countless shiny baubles and sparkling junk, shimmering as the breeze buffeted them.

Bird calls, a constant loud backdrop to this place, neatly drowned out the soft jingle and tinkle of metals and crystals brushing together. Aurielle grinned at the sight a d howled for Amos— she'd be darned if she'd let him miss out on this. Plus she'd need help getting the deer home to butcher.
