Geoffrey had made a mistake. Well, many mistakes but this one was particularly bad. He'd gone exploring in the sands when a sudden sandstorm had blown over him. In his haste to find shelter he'd gotten lost and spent several hours wandering around the desert. Finally he'd spied what from a distance looked like paradise.

Thinking it yet another trick by the desert, he'd approached it slowly. Then, once he'd realized it was real, thrown himself into it as if it were a life preserver.

Honestly he didn't know what to do. Because he didn't know which direction home lay in he was afraid of walking back out into the desert. If he chose wrong the odds of him dying in the desert were very good.

As he contemplated his next move the oasis was suddenly bathed in shades of green and he lifted his sad eyes to the sky. What he saw surprised him, but even its rare beauty couldn't pull his spirits out of the gutter.

Venturing around Boreas in a similar manner to a boat lost at sea was depressingly normal for Amos sometimes. Maybe he was in a persisting funk, or a little depressed or something of that nature. He tried to do his best and be active around the pack and overall reasonably productive with his life, but sometimes it wasn't easy. He missed when things felt easier. When did they stop feeling that way? Bah, none of that, he needed to quit thinking that way and pull himself out of his own head before it got any worse.

Honestly, as he padded slowly over the vast expanse of sand he could only really think of how he much preferred the terrain and climate to the east. Sure, it was probably a bit more frosty there right now, but the desert just wasn't as pretty in his opinion. Yawning, he searched the sky for his companion for a few moments. Finding the creature was nowhere to be seen, but instead an interesting sight awaited him. Colors filled the sky, moving and honestly... breaking his brain a little. Now that was pretty cool. Amos had never seen anything like it before. He sat and watched it for a while, mesmerized. It was a good long while before he continued onward, approaching a patch of green he'd seen on the horizon. Before he'd thought it might not be real, but suddenly Amos was more inclined to believe in unusual or unexpected things.

Geoffrey watched the lights writhed and flowed across the sky. Their movements reminded him of a tangle of snakes. Had he not been so certain he was going to die alone and far from home he'd have been intrigued by them, but the grave nature of his predicament squashed his usually effervescent curiosity.

The boy sat up with a gasp as he spied the figure moving towards him. Was he real? He looked real! "Hey!" he shouted. "Over here!" He didn't know who was out there or what kind of wolf they were, but honestly, he didn't care. He just didn't want to be alone.
