This was fast becoming a guilty pleasure of his. This small plot of heaven, this small land of peace. The willows dragged low, their branches weeping to the forest floor, creating blooms of utter privacy, natures blessed spots. he found himself often lazing about in these woods. Its natural beauty, the gentle babbling of the streams, the soft pitter patter of other animals. It made his heart swell and his body relax.

His belly was full, filled to the brim with a delectable dining of ants and a scrumptious desert of termites! Antsolutely delicious! His body was nearly seven feet long and covered in lengthy, course, fur. With a rather loud grunt, he sank to the ground, limbs sprawling haphazardly and cranium resting against the dirt. He remained sprawled for quite some time, absorbing the warmth of spring, soaking in the rays of sunshine!

His hearing, he had come to surmise was much greater than that of these native souls... wolves. He could actually hear the ants scrambling about in their hidey holes, he could hear those termites scampering up and along the bark. They were his and ripe for the taking and the sound of a wolf approaching... it thundered in his brain like a war drum. He could hear a single soul drawing near and was suddenly hit with the irresistible urge to dance.... and who was he to deny such things?

He lumbered up and onto his feet before bracing himself and rising up on his hind legs, his incredibly lengthy torso twisted this way and that beneath the willow, his elongated cranium bobbing to some unsung beat and his forelimbs grooving in a round about fashion... oh ya... he still had it.

Meili trotted along, her paws carrying her through the forest of weeping willows, her body brushing against their long, drooping branches as she passed, sending the curtain of leaves swaying behind her. She had a gentle smile on her muzzle and her posture was completely relaxed. She had nowhere in particular to be today. This trip was purely for her own desire to roam and see new places. The trees reminded her of the willows near her new home and the memories attached to that place made her smile.

As she was moving along, she heard something off to the side of her, a scuffling sound of sorts. Curiosity got the best of her and she turned her path to head toward the noise. She heard it from behind one of the curtain of draping willow branches. Poking her head through the leaves, she saw something that she had truly never seen before. Her eyes went wide with surprise, not quite knowing what to make of what she saw. A long, gray-hued creature with what appeared to be a really long nose and shorter legs was up on its hind legs... dancing? It's body was waving every which way and its head was bobbing up and down. Her jaw dropped. First off, what in the world was it? And second, what was it doing?! She stared uncomprehendingly at the creature, momentarily forgetting her manners because of the shock.

Oh he loved the dance! Letting the music of life replace the flow of blood in his veins! Lithe and agile bodice twisting this way and that! Head careening to some unseen beat! Front limbs flailing out in some unwritten dance! It was beautiful! Magnificent! The biggest rush he had ever felt coursed through him! The scent, the smell of another finally broke the silent revere his body had lapsed into and coal colored eyes opened, landing on the gaping wolf that stood before him. He towered over her on his hind limbs, reaching an impressive seven feet high. An easy smile pulled at his small mouth and ceasing his restless movements, he came back down to earth with a less than subtle thud. His front paws curled backwards, walking on his wrists as he drew closer.

?Ah ma'cherie! This place is beautiful is it not? Do you ever indulge in a dance?? His lyrics were smooth and stained with just a tinge of a French accent. ?Merci! Where are my manners?? Graccefully his upper half dipped into a graceful bow, paw pressing to his chest as he did so. ?My name is Anubis and I am but a humble anteater, and what, might I inquire, is the name of such a lovely creature that stands before me??

Meili could only stare as the creature spotted her, stopped its flailing, and came back down to its front legs with a thump. He lumbered over to her, looking like absolutely nothing she had ever seen before. And it spoke to her! She thought that was the most surprising thing. She had never met an animal other than wolves that could speak so that threw her off a bit, but he seemed very friendly and kind of humorous as well. He had a bit of an accent, but the timber-colored fea couldn't place where it was from. He was charming at least.

Putting aside the feelings of strangeness for a moment she bowed her head in return to the animal that introduced himself as Anubis the anteater. She was curious about him and he didn't seem to intend to harm her, unless he was going to dance her to death. "My name is Meili. It's very nice to meet you, Anubis. You're the first anteater I've ever met!"

"Speech."

Elongated cranium would tilt comically to the side, The very tip of his tongue, escaping his mouth to wipe clean the edge of his snout. She would stand in seemingly stunned silence for a few moments, but he was well accustomed to such things. Not many could accept his odd appearance from the beginning, he supposed he was a bit of an enigma in that way. Tail drifting back and forth, he rolled back his shoulders hearing them crack with a satisfying pop a soft sigh of utter contentment falling from him.

She finally spoke and the male smiled once again, offering her a heavily clawed front limb. ?Ah Meili! Such a stunning name for such a gorgeous girl! The pleasure is all mine I assure you! Tell me my dear have you ever danced before?? His voice forever open and friendly rumbled up through his chest, the question innocent enough to be considered harmless. Curious to her answer, the strange soul waited calmly for her response.

Meili couldn't help but smile and blush as the giant anteater in front of her showered her with compliments. He extended his hand, extra long claws and all, toward her so she did the same, gently resting her paw on his, almost like she was shaking his hand. She had no idea what an anteater even was, much less that they could dance or be so charming, but Meili was willing to roll with it. She was always looking for new experiences and nothing was as new as making friends with an animal she had never seen before, right?

She pondered his question for a moment before shaking her head, replying, "No, I don't believe I have ever tried dancing." It was an interesting thought. Meili couldn't remember a time where she had ever wanted to dance or ever saw anyone else dance. Was that normal? Did wolves just not dance? Or had she just not seen anyone do such a thing? She stored that question away, remembering to ask Gael about it when she returned home. She looked at her new friend curiously and, going out on a limb, asked, "Would you like to teach me how, Anubis? You seemed very good at it when I saw you dancing a little bit ago. I don't think I'd be as flexible as you though," she finished with a grin. Her ears turned forward expectantly, her teal eyes watching him curiously.

"Speech."

She seemed quick to react to his less than subtle kindness and with a quick lift of her own limb, they shook paws. His rather fluffy fur with her much shorter. His smile grew and the gent backed up just a hair, allowing the dame a bit of space, no need to crowd the poor dear! She seemed like a kind enough soul and Anubis was always one to roll with the flow of time. If they had been destined to meet he was sure as hell not gonna leave until he knew he wouldn't soon be forgotten! A memorable acquaintance most definitely.

Her denial of his answer, had him recoiling in mock horror, his mouth falling open and his body coiling to sit on his haunches, a paw to his heart. ?Never tried... oh sweet girl! You wound my heart! It bleeds for you!? He smiled despite his words, eyes twinkling to show their mirth. He slunk back to his feet and bobbed his head a few times to agree to teach, chuckling softly beneath his breath. ?M'dear, you do not need to ask. ?My dear! You needn't even ask! Dancing should come naturally, let it flow through you! Like the blood in your veins, let it rush and then simply...? He paused rising back up onto his hind limbs annd spinning in a circle, throwing one forelimb up and one down. ?Dance!?

Meili let her paw drop back to the ground as the charming gentleman took a step back from her. She had to laugh as he stumbled back, mocking pain at her saying that she had never danced. Her eyes held the same humor that his did and a friendly grin crossed her muzzle. She had always easily made friends and apparently the anteater was no exception. He was quite amusing and she enjoyed their little chat so far.

Her teal eyes followed Anubis as he lifted up onto his hind legs, turning in a circle, one arm waving around up and down. It was a spectacle, certainly, with him towering over her on his hind legs. She thought it seemed easy enough and he looked like he was having an awful lot of fun. She crouched and carefully lifted herself up onto her hind legs as well, a little unsteady at first, but she quickly found her balance and she hopped in place, slowly turning in a circle as a wide grin crossed her muzzle. The little fea laughed and danced around on her hind legs with her new friend. She didn't think her dancing was near as graceful as the anteater's but she was having fun and she thought that was all that really mattered.
