Being bored was dangerous. At least, it was when you were Caelestis and boredom drove you to do basically whatever it took to entertain yourself. This latest stunt she was pulling was a doozie though, and not really all that well thought out, but hey, she wasn't bored anymore so sue her.

Really, it took some planning though and she was proud. After she'd passed by the no longer occupied volcano, well, it would be impossible not to investigate so she'd done that immediately after heading back towards Abaven from the Maw. Unfortunately the detour had distracted her quite a bit and she'd ended up not going back home. See, there was this one spot, this one vent where lava bubbled up within reach of the surface. Soon as she saw the liquid fire lazily crawling along, it's heat almost too much to stand... Well, who wouldn't wanna take some of that shit? First she got a stick, not just any stick though. Some care went into picking one that was long and strong enough. She didn't want it to burn up right away, and she sure didn't wanna have to get close to the lava to where her fur might catch on fire. She chose a somewhat green branch that'd been ripped out of a tree, hoping that if it was a little green then maybe the whole thing wouldn't burn up too fast.

But then she'd thought, what if she needed to put it down? Well that was simple enough, she just had to uh... Chew one end to a point, so she could stab it in the ground! Man, that led to a few good splinters in her cheek, which was not fun, but it was all gonna be worth it. After that, she'd headed on over to the lava and sure enough got the stick to catch fire. Now, she was merrily carrying it along and contemplating what one does with a stick on fire. Seemed like there was fun to be had, disasters to create. Climbing up a forested slope back towards the maw, she was hoping to find a good vantage point from which she could decide where to take her fire stick. The flames were warm against the side of her face, but they weren't climbing it yet. Actually, she was pretty worried it was going to go out and that she'd have to go back and relight it...

What was fun without a little danger, anyway? Or - better yet - a metric fuckton of danger? Both things went hand in hand, as far as she considered, and the thought of both things combined into one was quite appealing to the reckless female.

Korinna had wandered back toward Mount Volkan, though she'd decided to steer clear of the place for the most part. She couldn't help but be mildly curious as to who might resurface, though she was sure Tyranis could be easily enough found in these parts if she tried. For now though she had no real intentions of finalizing any plans, instead content with wandering freely and sulking at her own pace. Only when she caught a whiff of burning in the air would her dejected mood brighten. Due to the Maw's vicinity to Mount Volkan, she expected the air to have some kind of sulfuric smell to it, but this was definitely something burning. A much more forward thinking wolf would've probably decided that the reasonable thing to do was to run away from the burning smell, but Korinna had never been particularly apt to plan ahead, and she was intrigued at what might be causing it. Quickening her pace, she headed further up the mountain pass, eager to see what sort of havoc awaited her.

By the time she saw a flicker in the distance that mildly resembled fire, through the foliage of the trees up ahead, she was panting heavily. That'd been more of a climb than she'd thought, despite not being very far at up through the mountain pass. Korinna paused to catch her breathe, squinting to make out the vague silhouette of someone up ahead carrying something that was definitely on fire. Weird, but interesting, and Kori let out a bark as she climbed a bit higher to see the stranger properly. She didn't want to be set on fire herself, so she didn't want to completely startle her, so catching her attention before she got too close to the woman seemed a better idea.

Normally Cael would have bounced and skipped and leaped her way merrily up the slopes towards the maw, but as it was with the stick of fire in her jaws she couldn't really afford to leap about carelessly for a number of reasons. So she was forced to walk in a very boring and calm manner, picking her path slowly and growing more antsy with each passing moment.

A bark sounded nearby, and she turned a little too fast to look at the one who'd made the sound. For a good few seconds she proceeded to panic with a wild-eyes expression as the light of the flame flickered and threatened to go out. When it settled and remained lit she breathed a soft sigh of relief before tilting her head sharply to the side and driving the end of the crude torch into the ground so she could speak without being completely unintelligible.

"Hi there," she finally called with a wide grin and a few wags of her tail.

It was quite a sight to watch the she-wolf climbing up the slope of the cliffside, something that wasn't exactly the easiest of feats, even without the added burden of an oversized fire stick clamped between your jaws. Watching her moving precariously was entertaining in its own right, and Kori wore an amused smirk as she watched her swing around to face her, the whole stick coming with her. The fire at the end of the stick flickered for a moment, dimming as though it was threatening to go out, though soon the flame returned as strongly as it had before. Kori was pleased it hadn't gone out, offering a slow chuckle as she watched Caelestis maneuver the stick into the ground.

"Oh, hey," she called out far too casually for someone who'd been following a stranger, who held fire in her jaws, specifically for the purpose of seeing just what kind of trouble she might be able to coerce her into. "Whatcha planning on doing with that thing? Trying to set something on fire?" Or maybe.. someone? Either way, she was intrigued and quite visibly interested in the stick and its purpose. "Name's Kori, by the way." If she wanted to get into some trouble with this stranger, she figured she ought to offer her name at the bare minimum.

Eyeing the other woman for a moment, Cael wondered  what sort of greeting she might get out of the scarred stranger. Hmm... tentatively she'd decide that anyone with that many scars might have the potential to be the type who could enjoy the same mischief making that she did. That might be fun. After all, what good was trouble making if no one witnessed you doing it so that you could brag and have somebody to back up the story? Yeah, this could be good.

'Oh, hey' wasn't really the greeting she expected, but at the girl went on Cael found herself smiling like smug cat that finally caught a mouse. "Probably. I mean, I still have to pick what and where. It's gotta be spectacular, can't just waste it y'know?" Her tail wagged gently as she nodded to the woman who went on to introduce herself as Kori. "I'm Caelestis. Or Cael, doesn't matter really. I was just gunna climb up higher and try to pick a good place to take the fire to, wanna come?" Her paws were already itching to carry her further in her quest for a good place to start a blaze. She didn't really think about what would happen after the fire started, that was a question to be answered by the results of this experiment seeing as she'd never witnessed a real wildfire before.

Turning back towards her crudely crafted torch, she moved with a jaunty bounce in her step as she went on, "I think it'll be cool. I've never tried to burn anything before so, I figured why not. Fire's way cooler than I expected too. I knew that the lava could set things on fire but this is the first time I decided to mess with it for myself. I kind of wish it came in more colors though, that'd be awesome. Maybe if I burn something else it'll look different..."

Pleased that this stranger didn't seem like the type that had a stick up her ass - just clamped between her jaws, apparently - she found herself offering a playful grin in her direction. The expression was a mirror of the other woman's slightly smug one, pleased that she'd found some halfway decent company in these parts. Being on her own for so long, while something she was accustomed to, wasn't exactly what she preferred all the time. Being alone was just so dreadfully boring. Her answer had her chuckle, a low rumble that started deep in her chest and followed into her amused words. "Can't wait to see what you pick," she spoke up, despite not exactly being asked to join at all. If someone was about to cause some destruction, she was totally down, and she had a feeling the stranger wouldn't fight her on that one.

Not one for formalities, she didn't bother responding with the usual 'Nice to meet you' spiel. Obviously meeting her was nice, or she wouldn't be standing around doing it. The only reason she'd approached her at all was because she hoped she might offer something more entertaining than what she'd been doing, which had been.. well, nothing. "Well, it sounds a lot more reasonable to have a backup in case you set the wrong thing on fire, don't you think? Promise I'll even pull you out if you get stuck in it." Well, maybe. The thought of watching someone burn for fun just for the hell of it was mildly amusing, but Caelestis seemed like a decent girl so far, maybe someone she'd actually enjoying spending the afternoon with.

Without having given her a proper answer, Korinna was quick to move toward her as though ready and willing to join in her shenanigans. "Can't say I've ever set anything on fire myself, but at the very least it'll be fun to watch." She was less concerned with what they'd do if the fire didn't stop and far more concerned with just how quickly they could get it going. Kori offered a shrug, eager to get going and find something relatively dry to set on fire.. which might not be too hard, given it being autumn and all. Even seeing a pile of dry leaves go up in flames might be temporarily entertaining.

"Can't wait to see what you pick," the scarred woman chimed in. Cael lifted her chin a little higher and beamed. "Guess I'll have to do a good job choosing then, wouldn't want to underwhelm my audience." Cael chuckled, deciding in that moment that she rather liked Kori. At least the other was perfect sort of company for crazy stuff like setting fires, which was a pretty great thing to have going for you in Cael's opinion. Some wolves might be spoilsports.

"is there a wrong thing to set on fire?" she asked with a giggle before grabbing the torch and sauntering up the incline once more, sure that her newfound companion would follow. When she crested the top of the rocky hill, Cael turned to gaze out over the rough landscape below and studied it for a long moment. Everything was pretty dry, but she needed to find just the right spot. lots of scraggly evergreens made their homes along the mountainous region, while the ground was covered sparsely with yellowed grasses. Cael frowned, and then jumped slightly when the fire on the end of her torch snapped and sent a spark flying.

Just about ready to return to climbing in hopes of finding an even better vantage point, she finally caught a patch of brown further out that she was pretty sure was a decent sized pile of downed trees, all dried and ripe for burning. "Ooh, thif way," she exclaimed around the stick in her jaws, hurridly climbing down a different path along the rocky slope at a pace that was just a bit faster than what was reasonable, the flame on the torch flickering and hissing as it danced to and fro, threatening to go out but staying lit probably only by luck of some kind. Bouncing across the dry grass, Cael made her way over to the wood pile. The ground around it was mostly dirt, so like, maybe the forest wouldn't even catch on fire? Even if it did she wouldn't really mind as long as she got away clean.

Tossing the torch into the middle of the pile she watched the flame dance and threaten to go out, smoke puffing up from between some of the tree branches it sat nestled between. After holding her breath seemingly forever, Cael let out a cheer when the branches finally caught fire. Soon the whole thing would be one huge blaze. Awesome.

Kori chuckled, rather pleased at the company she'd found. She doubted she could find anyone quite so entertaining, at least without significantly more effort than she she was hoping to expend today. "Yeah, you better make the show a good one," she teased, somewhat half-heartedly. It was hard to imagine anything being set on fire not being entertaining unless maybe... it was herself she was talking about. She returned the chuckle quickly, deciding that no, there probably wasn't a wrong thing to set on fire. Some things might be more entertaining than others but she trusted Caelestis's judgement on this one. She didn't hesitate in following after her, rather amused by the sight of her carrying that oversized stick, butt swaying side to side as she went.

Even Kori flinched slightly at the sharp crack of the torch's end, her attention settling on the edge of the branch and watching the way it sent a spark flying into the air, breaking off from the wood and drifting into nothingness. She slowed her own pace when Caelestis redirected them both, only mildly alarmed at her hurried pace. She was careful to not walk directly behind the other woman just in case she lost grip on the torch and it fell directly on her face. She didn't at all mind gaining some scars here and there, but the thought of her fur going up in flames didn't exactly settle well with her. "Careful not to drop that thing," Kori threw at her, far too conversational for someone just feet from a bouncing hot flame. Truthfully she was more worried about the fire going out than she was about burning herself but she wasn't exactly interested in the latter all that much, though saying she feared it wouldn't be accurate.

Kori was anxious as she watched Caelestis abandon the flaming stick right on top of a pile of dry branches and leaves. It seemed just as likely that the fire might sputter out than it would actually catch on fire, and she bounced slightly on the pads of her paws as she waited impatiently. After a few moments a spark seemed to catch, and what had initially been little more than a few pulsing embers suddenly became a bright array of flames, which grew quite rapidly in intensity. She let out an excited cheer of her own, laughing all the while. "And what next, Queen of destruction?" Korinna side-eyed her, grinning playfully. "We sit back and watch the whole world go up in flames?"
