Kai vs Hannibal
As the match before concluded, the maimed loser was rushed from the ring and a trio of coydogs quickly scrubbed the blood from the circle and laid a new layer of sand over it for fresh footing. Nitro perused the remaining contestants, then picked out Hannibal and Kai. "All right, ladies and gentlemen," he called out to the spectators. "Who's excited for the next match in the HARDCORE division??" He waited while the roar of the crowd swelled and faded while he led the pair up to the ring, then gestured for quiet. "You know the rules by now - stay in the ring and remember that the winner gets to leave the loser with scars to remember them by! Why don't you go ahead and get us started?" he added to Kai.
Though Kai had expected to win his fight against Caelestis, if not solely because he really was a cocky bastard deep down, he had been slightly surprised that his dumb tactic of rolling and slapping her across the face with his tusks had worked. He flashed her a foolish grin as he limped away from the ring, feeling worn down but still exhilarated and ready to fight again. He welcomed the brief period of rest between rounds, though was eager to jump into the next round and keep the adrenaline flowing. A searing pain ebbed at the right side of his face, though he redirected his attention toward the next opponent he'd been paired with. Only briefly would he look Hannibal over, less sizing him up as an opponent and more just... checking him out, honestly. He was a handsome male, with fur as pale as snow, though his pelt held darker markings that contrasted sharply with his white fur. Quite a bit smaller than him, though he had a look of coldness that told Kai he'd be a formidable opponent nonetheless. He held his ground for a long moment, a hint of playfulness sparkling in his grey stare, and a grin quirking the corners of his lips. The slight fatigue he felt from the last fight made it hard to come up with anything witty to throw at him, so after a pause he exclaimed, "Onnea!" With that, he made to charge straight at Hannibal. Hopefully his height and weight would work to his advantage. Kai's fighting style was straight-forward; he tucked his head down and pummeled straight into his opponent, hoping to aim his tusks and snout straight under Hannibal's chest and use the strength in his neck to push him up and - at least in his head - send him sprawling to his side. Surely Hannibal was ready for anything, so he wasn't totally sure the tactic would succeed but he was willing to try it anyway. KAI vs HANNIBAL for Minor Maim (Torn left ear) Round 1/??? Hannibal was ready for his second hardcore fight. He followed the coydog into the ring with dried blood on his muzzle. A little respectful nod could be seen as he eyed over his opponent. A tusked male that was slightly larger then the albino. But, he did not allow that to intimidate him in the slightest. His previous opponent was also rather large and he did just fine. Though, Valentine was a bit of an older Wolf.. The pale male readied himself with a tucked head, narrowed lids, curled lips, and raised hackles. Hannibal made himself appear larger while hunkering down to ensure any sensitive bits were protected. As the fight commenced Hannibal was surely ready and braced for impact. Kai charged forward rather quickly and Hannibal dug his paws into the earth out of instinct. Though, at the last moment his opponent dove downward and the top of Kai's neck was suddenly beneath Hannibal's chest. A rippling growl could be heard as the albino moved quickly to react. Hannibal bent his front legs before quickly pushing his front half off of the ground. This movement flowed with Kai's attempt to push Hannibal upward and to the side. Thus, as Hannibal came back down his two front paws aimed to slam down on his opponent's upper shoulder blades. His goal was to press his opponent downward to the ground and perhaps injure the boney tops of his shoulders. Kai didn't know his opponent and he wondered if it was better this way. While beating Caelestis had given him a slight ego boost for reasons of his own, there was a certain thrill about being paired with someone he'd never met (and likely would never meet again). Despite his inherently selfish nature, Kai didn't lean toward the cruel end of the spectrum - inflicting pain on a stranger was always easier than inflicting it upon someone he was friendly with. Hannibal seemed to anticipate his attack and he saw the other male stiffen as he charged forward without hesitation. Catching him off-guard seemed like a distant possibility, but it wouldn't make him falter. Instead, Kai charged forward full force and rammed his head and tusks directly into Hannibal's chest, head lowered. He reacted quickly, growling as he braced himself for the attack. To Kai's displeasure he hardly budged, instead moving fluidly upwards and bringing his paws down hard on Kai's shoulders, a feat only possible due to his own lowered position. Shit. He returned the growl with an instinctive one of his own as he lurched his body upwards, hoping to push Hannibal off him. He was pushing down with quite a bit of his weight and he felt the pressure of his limbs trying to bear Hannibal's added weight, threatening to bend and collapse to the ground. He pushed back against the pressure, jerking his head upward in a sharp motion. If he was successful, he aimed to push from under his legs and make to snap toward his left ear, hoping his tusks helped his cause by digging into Hannibal's chest.
