The day had dawned eerily calm. Even though her small family knew she had made her mind up days ago, they still attempted to keep her from leaving. She wasn't heartless; she felt a tinge of sadness as she turned her back on her parents, on her siblings. However, she willed herself to look forward, to not cave into the itching desire to give them one last, longing look over her shoulder. She would return... one day.

Luckily, the earthen female knew the North well enough. Through trees, up valleys, and around mountains, she traveled. The bitterness of the northern wind was cold in her lungs, and she breathed deeply, savoring it. She planned to head south, somewhere. There was more to this land than snow. There had to be more plants than the scraggled things she would find hiding around tree roots or under the snow. The new Spring had brought new life, but it hardly stirred anything up here.

Crunching footsteps stopped beneath a small, leaning pine. Before her laid the Frozen Field, a mass of meadow covered in ice and snow. If Chepi squinted, she could spy the very tips of grass that tried so hard to reach the warming sun. A glance to the sky told her it was nearing afternoon. A stiff wind blew across the open area, buffeting her with snow and tiny shards of ice. Tawny chin lifted as she took in the stinging scents, wondering if her travel would be interrupted by wolf, or more-welcome prey.

She could not pinpoint any smell in particular, and with a cautious glance behind her with liquid gold gaze, she began her trek across the field. She shook her coat out once she was in the sun, enjoying the bleak warmth if offered. The south was supposedly warm, sometimes hot and humid - how she would handle that, she hadn't quite figured out. The North had always been her home, and she relished the cold.

A fluffy banner of chocolate and tawny swung slowly behind her as Chepi continually glanced about, feeling vulnerable for the first time in her short life.

The male crunched down on the moose calf. Powerful jaws ripped past the upper layer of it's stomach before reaching the contents of the stomach that were much more enjoyable. He had ended up chasing the dark thing all across the Frozen Field. It'd been a pain to separate the mother and calf from the rest of the herd, and then even more of a pain in the ass to actually take down the calf away from the mother. The mother had been reluctant to leave her child, but eventually he'd managed to throw her for a loop and then continue his hunt to kill the baby. Now he had a meal and a full stomach to contend with.

Of course he wouldn't be able to eat it all by himself. Then again he had no one to share it with. He didn't travel with companions. He was a solitary creature that kept to himself and bothered no one unless necessary. Therefore it made perfect sense to just leave the carcass for coyotes or some other scavenger to feed from. Hell. Perhaps another wolf would come along and see the fresh kill and help themselves. He had no intentions of returning to the place so there was no need to bury the kill. Perhaps it was a waste of food, but Sasori didn't care. Rabbit hadn't been big enough and there was hardly any medium sized creatures that could be satisfactory to feed him.

Just as he was about to leave he stopped. Tongue swiped out to clean his blood stained muzzle. Nostrils flared and head rose to the sky as he strove to locate the scent and figure out what it was. It didn't take him long to calculate that it was a wolf. A female wolf. He was surrounded by a few glaciers. Enough to hide anyone that would be around him until the were close enough to see. For now he was only left with scent and sound.

"Who's there?"

It was the obvious scent of blood that hit her first. From in front of her, she was sure - and of prey - but she was unsure as to the killer. Their scent was hidden beneath the gory perfume, and her stomach rumbled quietly in response. She was not hungry, but she knew that her meals would be scarce on her own. Her first initial thought was to backtrack, hide away until the owner of the kill wandered off. She could always gorge herself on what was left. Tawny paws had just stopped when she heard the masculine voice.

Hushed curses sprouted from black lips, narrowed eyes scanning ahead of her. She had been found out already! He did not know her, nor even what she looked like. She might be able to turn and swiftly run back, and find another way down. A shifting paw in the snow dashed that quick thought. What if this male wasn't done hunting just yet? She would have to come in contact with others at some point; it was bound to happen, so why not get it over with?

These thoughts came and went in seconds. Chepi calmly continued onward, head held high and her face an expressionless mask. Molten eyes locked onto the masculine figure as soon as she spotted him, around the bend. The kill was there, too. A quick glance to check it out, then back to the wolf.

"Chepi," she responded bluntly, keeping her distance. She kept her regal stance, her eyes darting over his form to analyze his. "And you?" Her voice was medium-pitched, tilted with an accent unable to derived from so few words. Finally, her gaze rested on the male's eyes, watching him closely.

His massive head lowered and his stance widened as he balanced himself out. Tail stuck outwards behind him parallel to the earth as he waited for whomever it was to show themselves. One ear pinned to his skull and the other flicked forward and then swiveled around him to listen. The girl soon came around the bend with her head high and carrying herself as if she were some Alpha. Regal. He himself carried himself proudly, but he didn't openly display his throat all the time either. Especially not when approaching a stranger that had a kill next to them. He eyed her warily, even as she stated her name and requested to know his.

He paused for a moment. Glacial gaze paused on the girl. Had there been more words spoken he would have realized she had an accent just as he did, but she would have a much easier time picking up on his Greek tones, unlike him who would have to listen more to her dialogue before being able to pick up on such things. Finally he spoke.

"Sasori."

He paused for another moment, eyed his kill, and then looked back at her and cocked his head to the side. He felt rather generous at the moment, and she seemed to be hungry. Wasn't it why she had been stalking in the shadows? It seemed to be the only logical explanation. Besides, he would be leaving soon. He was done with the prey, why not allow her to have it already?

"Are you hungry? I'm going to assume that's why you were here, food?"
