Bare Your Blades

Who the hell can see forever?
Voluminous towers of clouds were building off on the horizon but they were still far enough away that he felt no need to seek shelter. At least not yet. The summer afternoon was warm and humid with barely a breeze but at least there were a number of soft, fluffy clouds building in the sky and the sun was far enough on its downward turn that he didn't feel like he was burning. His garnet eyes squinted at he stepped from the shade of the oak tree and out onto the even surface of the battlefield. He sought for a good place to spar finally settling in a lush field of short grasses. Tipping back his head he howled for a potential challenger. If he couldn't find the rest of the Ademre group then he could at least continue to work on his skills as a warrior. The young man stretched lightly as he waited for an answer to his call.
Taking a deep breath he tried to still his thoughts. They'd insisted on racing circles in his mind since he'd entered this strange new land and try as he might he had yet to get them to settle down. Perhaps this battle would help. Skaelingr had been taking it easy and in his resting energy was building and twisting and begging for relief.

The end of the sun's reign was the beginning of the dark beast's, having settled not too far from the battlefield nestled in pines above the Northern Mines. For as much as he hated his father and thinking about the rest of his Praetor lineage, he never seemed to stray too far from the familiarity of the mountains; these thick trees, colder climate, and treacherous slopes would always be his home.
The excitement that came with the call he could faintly hear woke him up easily enough, Dominus didn't care much for socialization but what contact he did have with his peers would by far be put to use by increasing his strength. The crocodile encounter he'd had in Auster was his last memorable fight, and since then he'd fended off predators from his meals well enough to stay healthy- but fighting wolves? He was embarrassingly inexperienced. As he neared his second year and pushed into adulthood, ambition began to manifest within his overused brain and he decided not to stray too far from the possibility of a spar. He hung among the lower mountains waiting for exactly this happenstance, so it took him no time at all to answer.
Long limbs of the behemoth teen were stretched in a brisk jog as Dominus aimed to limber his youthful body, his massive skull was kept low though his neck tossed occasionally to ready it for what was to come. By the time Dominus neared the caller enough to have eyes on him, his heart was already pumping strong and adrenaline had him highly alert. His piercing blue eyes cut through his surroundings as they took it all in, he appreciated the openness of the chosen field; he felt more secure being able to see what was around him- or, what wasn't. It aided in keeping his composure, as his nervousness from being so inexperienced threatened to break through his strong facade at any given moment.

Who the hell can see forever?
Skaelingr let his mind still, trying to ignore the restless noise of his own brain. He could not afford to be distracted. His ears perked up at the approach of a young male similar in age but far bigger. The other definitely looked to be a challenge and he looked forward to fighting such an intimidating youth. The boy spoke and Skaelingr nodded. Knowing that the wolves of this land tended to use speech more than his own kind he parted his lips and spoke. "Please, it would be an honor." He squared off against the male and quickly set his defenses as he analyzed his course of attack. Normally his opponents were his own size or smaller. A wolf of this size would be a challenge indeed.
Instinct told him to use his greater speed against his opponent yet he had the drive to strike, to bring them together in violence swiftly. He wanted to test his strength, to get a feel for his opponent. Kicking off he charged head on for his opponent. Let the other think he might dodge out of the way at any moment, but today, for his first move, that was not his strategy. He swiftly twisted his right shoulder forward as he attempted to slam the point of his right shoulder into the crease between the youths chest and left shoulder. He hoped to strain the ligaments there and slow his opponents movement. If he were to try and throw his weight around he knew he needed to focus on softer targets. He threw his shoulder forward in midleap so that he would hit higher on the shoulder as he partially reared up to make up for the difference in height. As he leapt he also sought to smash the top of his head against the bottom of the taller wolf's jaw halfway between the front and his throat. The top of his skull would be difficult to get a hold of though he knew he was at risk for scarring from attacks there.
As he threw his head up he also sought to grab ahold of his opponents throat. His jaws seeking to grasp the youth beneath his jaw. His head tilted just slightly so that his lower jaw aimed to pierce the flesh on the left side of the youth's throat while his upper fangs sought to hook over his right. His goal was to get a good hold from which he could begin to strangle his opponent and hopefully bring a swift end to the fight.

As Dominus neared his opponent, it became clearer to him how much of a size difference they truly had. The teen titan hadn't had much interaction with other adults at all since he was a pup, he wasn't used to being so much bigger than his peers.. or, well, now even those who surpassed him in age. He knew himself to be inexperienced, but his ego was rising once again as he witnessed the smaller wolf begin to charge toward him.
Dominus' fangs bared in a drooling grin before parting from one another, leaving his jowls partially agape and ready to attack while his chin tucked downward. Simultaneously, his neck lowered and tail rose just slightly to keep his spine at an even level throughout his body; apologetic dominance radiating from him while he confidently sacrificed the safety of that tail to display it. He was ready for this spar, his heart racing within his chest as adrenaline fueled him and kept him alert.
His stance squared quickly as the stranger reached about six feet of distance, toes splaying as his lengthy talons dug into the earth to anchor him to it and brace for impact. While the brute slammed into him, Dominus exhaled to lessen the bruising done to his ligaments while those talons raked into the earth to prevent him from being pushed off-balance. The other male was coming up to meet him in height and Dominus instinctively shifted his skull vertically to the left before dipping down slightly, blocking his trajectory with his own mouth. His already open bear-trap of teeth suddenly came to a snapping to a close as his prey reared up right into their center trigger, his tongue writhing to coil backward into his own mouth for protection while his thick fangs sought their marks. Top canines sought to puncture the right-top cheek of the other male while his bottom canines utilized his massive bite range in an attempt to hook beneath the other's chin, in the soft and vulnerable center-front, and force him to close his bite under the force of Dominus' own. Wolves' facial muscles were meant for biting, not for resisting a muzzle- Dominus aimed to use the size of his jaws to be that muzzle and immobilize the use of the stranger's jaws altogether.
