He was becoming a regular visitor to the battlefield as of late. And his reasoning for doing so was so he didn't have to spend so much time under the awkward veil in Abaven. He'd yet to speak to Shaye, but he knew sooner or later he would have to, even if it was just to inform her he'd be leaving at some point. The sky was heavy with rain clouds, and by the time he reached the battlefield it had started to fall. The ground would soon grow slick with mud, he was sure, but that wouldn't deter him from seeking out a potential fight. His foxes seemed to like it more than he did, and the gradual slimming of his own form along with the armor he wore as the rain slicked all the fur down didn't feel too comfortable, but he'd have to learn to deal with it. He'd remember to dry it off when he returned to his den so it didn't grow mold or anything. He would come to a stop in a clearing that was gradually turning to mud, though not quite there yet. A few more minutes perhaps...tilting his head back, he called for someone to spar with him.

Lament Pyre

The struggle to find himself was long and tedious. Flashes of memories that made no sense haunted his dreams, images of the tree, the beautiful, flowering blossom tree bathed in red. He knew it held importance to him, but he could not unravel the how. He spent as much time outside of Legion as he did within its borders. He was searching for a link to their past, anything that might tell them who they had been. Anything to wash away the shroud that hampered him, or take away the loss in his sister's eyes.

Another day of fruitless searching, of the wind whistling past his form. The drumbeats of his paws as they fell in rhythms against the earth. The frustration took him, through he barely even noticed when the rain began to fall. He slowed as he reached the battlefield, his legs slick with mud. He raised his head to the sky, raindrops bashing against his delicate features, and his paw beneath him whispered a gentle sigh.

None of his frustrations showed across his features. Infact, nothing showed there. There was a studious blankness to everything but his eyes, which in the silvers there someone might read his despair.

As the call for a fighter rang out in the bitter air, the warrior lifted his head, ears tilting in the direction of the call. Perhaps this was what he needed, a fight with a stranger. He would appreciate the exercise, the familiarity of the movements in his limbs. The clear space of fighting to help him forget the emptiness of his memories.

Lament made his way towards the howler, stopping only a wolf length from the man. “A good day for a spar” his smile displayed in the movement of his paw, for anyone who could read his amusement, in the language of the Adamre

He settled himself into a fighting stance, his eyes flicking the paws of the stranger, taking in the strength in them. Of the Armour that lay across his body. He was ready to read the language hidden in this white warriors limbs, for the fight that was about to take place.

It wouldn't be long before what appeared to be flames heading towards him. A quick sniff of the air, however, told him it wasn't really fire. The colors took the shape of a wolf, and while he had seen many strange things in his lifetime, he still found wolves like this quite interesting. The younger Male approached with simple words, causing Ace to nod his head. He didn't recognize what the Male was doing with his feet, however, and thought perhaps it was a nervous thing he did or something. Looking into the silver gaze of his potential opponent, he could see more than he let on. "My name is Acere praetor, who might you be?" He very much liked to start with pleasantries before a fight. Unless of course, if it was a fight for completely different reasons. But this? It was a simple, friendly spar. Not one where he sought bloodshed.

Lament Pyre

The white wolf introduced himself, giving names he was unfamiliar with. Not a surprise, there was very little that was familiar to him these days. “I am Lament” his voice was soft, pitched to carry to Acere, and no further. Considering the short distance between them, that didn’t exactly take much.

Who was he? A good question, and he wished he held more of an answer. He knew there was more that came after Lament, he just didn’t know what. He had a family, a culture, a home. Whatever they might have been, they were just shadows to him now.

The rain continued to fall, soaking his coat, darkening the red tones, and bringing out the silver in his gaze. His eyes still shifted to the other wolf’s paws, he did not make eye contact, and occasionally his paw would move in quick, elegant gestures. He didn’t make many, he had little emotion to display before a battle.

“Would you like to go first, Acere Praetor?” Lament’s voice invited the man, and the warrior held his stance, limber and prepared. His balance in the balls of his feet, as the slighter man’s strength was in his speed, and his unnaturally long fangs that fell silver from his lips.

"I am Lament," Ace nodded to show he heard. Though the males voice was soft under the din of the falling rain, Ace had been able to make it out just fine. "What's he doin' with his feet?" Ace glanced at Finn before turning his gaze to Lament's feet. Brows pulling together as he watched. Well he didn't know what all that was about, but perhaps Lament might be able to enlighten him afterward. "Would you like to go first, Acere Praetor?" He nodded again and settled into a quick defensive stance.

He did a quick adjustment of his armor and assessed the ground for a moment. Just as he suspected, slick with mud already. He'd have to be careful this time around. He also noted that Lament was a little more than a foot smaller than he was, so this would be interesting. Nodding to each companion before lowering his head over his throat, he began.

Without further hesitation, Ace charged towards Lament and bent his legs to bring him slightly closer to the ground. He sought to slip past Lament's left side, his own left forepaw raising to come down over the center of Lament's back with the intention of holding him down. And hopefully it would be easier to keep the Male from getting loose if the clawed reavers managed to grip into him and tangle with fur. Ace then aimed his fangs at the base of Lament's tail, seeking to bite and hold him.

Lament Pyre

Lament’s gaze raked over the armor in admiration. He would have to ask the man where he had obtained such an item. It would take some getting use to, fighting with the restrictive feel of leather across his coat, but he could appreciate the protection it offered. Especially against a wolf like himself, with elongated fangs, which could tear into wolf flesh all that more easily.

Acere dove for him, and Lament held his ground, before tearing to the side at the last moment, the smaller, light build wolf quick on his paws. His balance was in the balls of his feet, intent more on moving quickly then holding a sturdy balance. Ace’s raised paw buffeted him lightly, as the smaller wolf was unable to fully avoid the attack. He used the momentum of the push to turn himself, and lunge at Acere.

His aim was to harry the larger wolf, to leap in, attack with his fangs, and duck out of the way again. With that in mind, he aimed to run at the wolf, and nip his elongated fangs across the mans front foreleg. If the attack landed, his aim was to drag his sharp incisors across flesh, instead of digging in for purchase and getting them stuck. Weather or not his attack landed, he would prance back out of the larger mans range again.

He had to admit, the small flame was quick on his feet. Acere knew he'd have to switch tactics against this guy, so when his attempted assault mostly failed, he dug his feet into the ground and turned as quickly as he could to try and follow Lament around. Perhaps staying up in his personal space would work better than flat out trying to overpower him. Give him less room to maneuver and dance around his legs. As Lament darted towards his foreleg, Ace raised his paw enough to where the reaver on his left forefoot would intercept and save his skin. Bending his toes inward, he hoped Lament's longer teeth would get caught up with the leather and tiger claws.

A high pitched growl sounded ahead of him, narrowed crimson gaze looking just enough to find Finn darting in towards Lament's behind. The red fox sought to grab Lament's back leg with his teeth and yank it out from under him. Hopefully with that potential distraction, Ace might be able to try another hit.

He lunged forward, kicking off with the power of his hind legs and sought to clash the entirety of his chest with Lament. Head snakes downward then, jaws seeking to grab the center of Lament's back and pick him up off his feet like he was picking up a pup. If he could manage that, he aimed to toss him over his back and put an end to the fight.

Lament Pyre

His harrying tecnic worked better against a single opponent, and that's what he thought he was up against as he lunged for the paw of Acere. When the white wolf got his reaver in the way, Lament lost a precious second racking his teeth against the leather before he pulled free, and pulled back.

Instead of open air, he would find the fox yearling at his calves. He kicked out, hoping to get a solid hit on the creatures face, and felt its teeth scrape against his skin from where it had tried to dig in.

The fox served as a minor destruction, and prevented him from getting light on his feet as Acere drove down on him. The smaller wolf was forced to brace himself as Acere’s chest collided with his own. As the larger wolfs head moved over him, likely aiming for his scuff, he would use this moment to get the stretched out neck, and attempted to clamp his sharp fangs near the man's throat - near, not on, he wasn’t aiming to do any serious damage. He knew if he could get in a good shot however, it would show that - had he been aiming - he could have killed the man, which could well serve as a win. He needed that fast, now that he was stuck in close quarters with the larger warrior.
