The melt of Winter had brought floods to Valhalla. The rivers were overflown and good, solid, dry land was hard to come by. Things were looking up, though, and Soleil couldn't be more relieved. That didn't, however, mean that life was good and great.

The miss seemed doomed to be challenged by Mother Nature with ever pregnancy her little body endured. Last time, and the first time ever being pregnant, she was forced to flee from her home as volcanoes destroyed everything. Fire and ash forcing the wolves into a mass exodus from their homeland. Time had healed their pain and fortune had smiled upon them, offering this new home. Soleil supposed that she shouldn't just expect sunshine and rainbows, things were bound to get hard from time to time.

So near to her birthing date the petite female was heavy with puppies. Days would fly by and all too soon she would be a mother again. She had done it to herself, practically begging Collision for it. She couldn't help herself, the fiery passion she felt for her mate was something logic couldn't explain. Collision hadn't denied her request for more puppies, he would never do that. His feelings for her were just as strong as her's for him.

Soleil sat down panting, the ground cool and mushy below her. Her ears pulled back and lines formed in her face as her bottom jaw dropped open and her tongue lulled out to one side. It wasn't even hot out, it was just a little exhausting when carrying all the extra weight.

It was the afternoon and things were bound to get nippy as the sun faded from the sky. She needed to find a den sometime soon, the puppies could arrive any time now. They were ready even if she wasn't. Her den was underwater, or she would have them there. It made her deeply unhappy to think that once again she would have to give birth above ground.

Erani

Erani padded along Valhalla?s edge, glancing at the puddles that still pervaded the area. It was lucky that her den was safe from the flood. It was set on a higher hill, on a slight slant once you got out of the cave. Thus, and rain or overflow from the waterfall spring and it?s fall pool and stream would merely flow down and out of the ravine. Erani had chosen her den on a healer?s instinct. Now it served even better. Not only was it excellent for her healers purposes, it was excellent for children. Safe, enclosed, cozy but large. That largeness would be a boon when her children reached mature size. She wondered if they would find their own dens, or stay in hers.

A scent caught her attention, and she smiled. She?d seen Soleil at the wedding, and she?d been delighted to see that she was pregnant again, with Collision standing tall and proud beside her. Erani picked up her pace into a light trot, giving a friendly whuff to the little white healer. ?Soleil. Voice warm and friendly, she greeted the female, taking note that she was due. Very due. Why wasn?t she in her den? Tail swaying, she fell into step beside Soleil. ?I didn?t get to give my congratulations to you at the wedding. You look ready to pop here and now.? Erani clearly remembered the feeling of being that close to birthing. The pressure, the constant activity inside. The forceful kicks to the bladder. ?Are you excited?? Silly question, but oh pups did so excite her. Thy were worth every bit of discomfort.

Valhalla was flooded at the moment. One of the great downfalls of spring was the occasional torrential downpour. The only good thing about these downpours was that they didn't last long. Or so he thought. On the bright side, the downpour hadn't turned into a storm with lightning and thunder. That would've been so much worse, so the wolves of Valhalla were probably thankful that it had just been water. Gael certainly was. Although, it was rather annoying having to walk around in water all the time, with mud a constant beneath his paw pads. He didn't mind the water too much, but like probably everybody else, he preferred dry ground where his paws didn't sink in and where mud didn't squeeze between his toes. Everything had calmed down in the few days since the beginning of the flood. Some of the water had begun to disappear, but a significant amount of his home was still flooded. The young Adravendi wasn't too worried. He knew most of the water would be gone in a week or two. Or at least that's what he hoped.

Today though, he was on a mission. He had run into his father a few weeks ago, but still he hadn't seen hide or hair of his mother. His dear little mother. How he missed her. Despite being practically full grown, the yearling still missed the loving touch of his mother. She was a beautiful woman with exquisite ivory fur and stunning baby blues. And he hadn't seen in what seemed like forever. The young Adravendi moved through the water logged landscape slowly, taking his time as he attempted to track his mother's scent. The water made it pretty hard to detect any kind of scent, but as he moved along, he caught a faint whiff of his mother's trail. But it smelled different. Pace was halted, nostrils flaring as he tried to discern the difference in his mother's scent. Why did she smell so different? Immediately concerned, the young set off, water splashing about his ankles as he bounded towards the origin of his mother's scent, spotting her familiar ivory figure atop a somewhat drier patch of earth, a second white woman standing at her side. That was Gabe's mom. He remembered her from the day he'd tried to talk to Gabriel. Ma'am. He offered her a short greeting as he approached, still unsure of who she is but not paying her too much attention at the moment. His mom was his main focus.

Audits flattened his skull, ivory tipped whipcord tucking half way beneath his haunches as he made himself smaller, submissive even as he approached his mother. Mom? came out his gentle call, stopping about a yard or so from her, cerulean gaze flickering across her form, noticing how her belly was swollen and she panted, as if tired. Could she...be pregnant?!

A soft sound tugged at the white maidens ears, bidding her to look in a different direction. She did, it was only natural to follow the sound. A female, nearly twin to herself, approached her. Erani. She smiled easily at the other wolf. They were friends, not close but still friends. The two were passionate healers and both mothers. Soleil's mind sidetracked for a millisecond, taking into consideration the similarities she held with Erani.

?I didn?t get to give my congratulations to you at the wedding. You look ready to pop here and now.? The girl turned her rich blue eyes to Erani, looking her over. "That's quite alright, I was not the one due for congratulations anyway. And thank you... as for looking ready to pop, yes, I am very nearly due and they are very ready to be out, I think!" Her eyes were wide as she spoke, a show of her good mood.

?Are you excited?? Soleil nodded but was unable to keep the discomfort from her gaze. She was excited but since her den was low lying, it was submerged. "Of course... but my den is underwater. Once again I will have to give birth somewhere unfamiliar." She looked genuinely worried now.

"Ma'am." Soleil heard the word spoken from somewhat familiar tones. She waved it off, mentally marking the voice off as that of some Valhallan she knew but was not too familiar with. She barely turned to look, assuming the greeting was for Erani as she was far more vital to the pack.

"Mom?" It was a single word that had the power to bring her to her knees, if only she were standing. Soleil looked now, her eyes glimmering with recognition. Could it really be? Her second born? Gael. Last she had seen him he was merely a pup, off to explore the world. She had given him his freedom, Soleon as well. Azalea had chosen to stay in Valhalla, not following her brothers into the unknown.

She let out a choked sound, almost like a yelp, as she jumped up and waddled toward him. Her balance was off and her viciously wagging tail did not help. "My baby boy! Oh, how you've grown! Like a weed." She fussed over him, her eyes surveying every inch of him. Her paws moved, weight shifting from paw to paw as she tried to contain her excitement.

Erani

It did Erani?s heart good to see Soleil happy again, healthy and strong, eyes bright and strong, and the steady rippling of pups moving in the womb made Erani?s tail wag just to see the life. Soleil?s words made her grin. ?Indeed. I can see the eagerness from here. How many do you think there are?? She hoped there were several. Collision was large, and his size could transfer to his offspring, making a birthing difficult to say the least. Soleil?s small size would add to that difficulty.

Soleil?s answer to her question made her frown. So that was why she wasn?t staying in her den. ?My den has several alcoves in it, you can take one for yourself. And once your litter is old enough to move and your den is dried out, you could move them in. I?ll happily help. And I think my daughters would love the chance to see a birthing. I?m hoping one of them will take to our Craft. I don?t think either of my sons are going to be healers. Castiel takes after his father, and Gabriel.. Well, he?s Gabriel. Wandering the world and he?s not even a yearling yet. I worry for him.? A new voice made her turn, a smile gracing her muzzle. ?Ah, Gael. How are you today??

Soleil, it seemed, didn?t recognize her own son. Erani thought at first that this was odd, until she recalled that Gael and Soleon had left Valhalla, in search of their father, and never come back until Gael came home recently. And he?d come back while Soleil and Collision were staying in Glaciem. She stepped aside as Gael greeted his mother, giving them room. Soleil?s reaction made her grin. ?Growing like a dandelion.? Deep blues twinkled as she agreed with Soleil?s words.

The two seemed to be conversing, about what he could only guess. He'd come in after the conversation had started but he didn't bother listening to whatever it was they were talking about. It didn't concern him and that moment, he frankly didn't care. He just cared about his mother right now. Who appeared to be heavily pregnant! Holy...He was going to have little brothers and sisters...If his mother was pregnant and they just came back from Glaciem did that mean...Gael shuddered, trying to push the mental picture of his parents getting it on. That was something he never wanted to see. Ever. Ever. Ever. Just...no. Gross. Jeezus that was gross. But on the bright side, he was going to be a big brother. A lot of responsibility was going to be on him now with helping his mom take care of the babies. Oh boy. So much for not having anything to do anymore.

I've been well ma'am. Excuse me, but what was your name again? I don't remember too many Valhallan faces since I have been gone for so long. A curt nod was presented to the identically ivory woman before he turned his full attention to his mother. At first, she seemed rather confused as to who he was, which was understandable. He wasn't the young pup the he once was. But recognition quickly kicked in and his mother was crying out to him, raising herself as she slowly waddled her way over to him, something of a strangled yelp bursting from her lips as she attempted to fawn over him. Gael chuckled, an idiotic grin curling his kissers as he tucked his head beneath his mother's, limbs folding beneath him as he lowered himself to the ground, nearly lying down, licking at her throat. You could say that. I've missed you mom. None of the seriousness that was usually present when addressing his father was shown. His mother was a different story. He wasn't a warrior with him mother. He was just her son.

Erani seemed to delighted to see Soleil pregnant again. Her tail wagged and she grinned widely, ?Indeed. I can see the eagerness from here. How many do you think there are?" Soleil tipped her head a bit. "I really don't know! This time feels different from last but I'm not sure if that means more or less!" Soleil loved puppies but the thought of having more than four intimidated her.

She nodded at Erani's offer, "Thank you, Erani, you're too kind." Letting her continue, her final words were enough to make her smile weakly, "He will be fine, I'm sure. It wouldn't be right to hold them back from doing what they desire and, in my opinion, it makes them more well rounded to get a sense of the world."

And then there was Gael. She had been told he was back but had started to doubt it, since she seemed to be the only one yet to see him. Erani seemed the least bit surprised to see him, asking him how he was today. "I've been well ma'am. Excuse me, but what was your name again? I don't remember too many Valhallan faces since I have been gone for so long." Soleil pipped up, "Erani."

Gael grinned at her, folding to the ground as he drew near to her, laying his affection upon her. "You could say that. I've missed you mom." His words rang in her head, shadowed by Erani's gentle agreement. She licked at his face, neck craned over him. Her kissing covering every inch of his face that she could reach. "Where have you been hiding, silly boy? Everyone seems to have seen you but me!"
