Azalea was up early, the sun just beginning to peak over the horizon. There was a buzz of excitement and anticipation in her step. Her paws tingled each time they kissed the ground no matter how briefly they stayed planted. It was bound to be an exciting day with the plans she had set in place.

The Adravendi was an oddball, generally sleeping in different places each night. She was uncomfortable with the idea of a den, an easy place where someone could anticipate her to be. It had to be about the only act that showed her actually looking out for herself on a regular basis. Perhaps she was an airhead, trudging around like she could conquer whatever she set her mind to. Young, beautiful, and invincible. She had never been attacked before so she knew no different than to think so.

She paced herself as she headed toward the heart of Valhalla from the outer fringes. She headed toward the plains, the location that their home turf was named after. Veronica Plains was a name that didn't quite encompass the whole of Valhalla. In her mind it was just Valhalla, a name that brought to her mind much more than a flat over space with grass.

When she reached her destination she seated herself lightly, waiting patiently for her company to arrive. Her brother knew the time and place and surely he would not disappoint her.

The sun was out enough to paint the sky a bloody orange, rays shedding light over everything around her. There were hardly any clouds but a cool breeze swept the plains. She was right on time, very soon the spar would begin.

ooc: I was thinking just 2 rounds, keep it short and simple. No real wounds, but I'm fine with them roughing each other up. Azalea bleeding doesn't worry me in the least. Anyone who wants to come watch is welcome.

The beta female hadn't been doing much lately. Her life revolved around he daughter, and the extra moments she had revolved entirely around the pack. It seemed as if she could never catch a break, and even when she did momentarily, she couldn't enjoy herself. She was always busy. Busy busy busy. It was early morning, and she was making her way toward the heart of the territory when Azalea caught her eye. She had always admired the beautiful girl, especially since she was royalty, along with the other Adravendi's. Her mind flashed back to Cairo, and she could't help but sigh. She already missed him.

She slowly made her way toward the young gal, and as she approached she was starting to get the vibe. Azalea was waiting for something specific, what it was she wasn't sure, but she was curious to find out. "Good morning, miss Azalea." She said with a smile as she took a seat before her. Why was she up so early?

Of course she would want to spar with him. She was little miss perfect over here, thinking that she was so much more superior than her brother, just because she looked exactly like their aunt Chrys and because she'd been named heir. Ha! That didn't make her any better than him, at least in Gael's eyes. She was still his little sister, in both sense of the phrase, and that was how she was always going to be to him, heir or no heir. She'd expressed her want for a spar with him yesterday after he'd gotten Meili all settled in to her new home, and being the good brother that he was, he politely accepted her little challenge. She stated the time and place for their spar to take place, and he had given her his word that he would be there. He wasn't one to disappoint.

The morning sun was cresting over the mountain peaks of Alacritis, its warm rays dancing across his silver back as he jogged from his resting spot to the heart of Valhalla. The plains. Of course she would want to make it as public as possible. Big headed over here thinking that she would be able to best him in front of the entire pack. Yeah right. Ivory paws carried the young Adravendi into the clearing, cerulean gaze flickering to his sister's familiar figure, before spotting an ivory woman he couldn't recall greeting Aza. He stepped forward, pausing a respectable distance from his sister, dipping his head to her and the older woman. Aza, ma'am. He spoke curtly, waiting to for his sister to state her terms so they could begin. He could already feel the adrenaline begin to pump through his system, steel-like muscles bunching beneath his silver coat in preparation for the coming spar.

There was something approaching her, causing her head to turn instinctively in the direction of the noise. Her limbs move into action, standing up to be prepared. She expected Gael but who she saw instead was a pale female with blue eyes. It was Aislyn, the Beta.

"Good morning, miss Azalea." The elder female greeted. The yearling girl smiled lightly, nodding her head. "Morning." Aislyn sat down and Azalea was just about to when she spotted her brother headed their way. Her stomach tied in a knot and she turned to face him with a straight face.

Despite what was running through the grey male's head, Azalea was not trying to prove herself over him. She purely wanted practice and her hard-headed brother was the only one she could bring herself to ask. It would be her first fight and if she lost, losing to her brother would be acceptable. In her mind it was demeaning to lose, even if it was just a spar. Losing to her brother would simply ease the sting that she knew she would feel.

"Aza, ma'am." Gael was short with his greeting and it made Azalea pull her ears back. She wondered what her brother was thinking about. Perhaps she needed to start spending more time with him. They needed to catch up and reconnect.

They would sure connect here. Her subconscious grinned wickedly while physically she frowned. That was not the kind of connecting she meant.

Azalea was a mix of things, getting attributes from both of her parents. To most she came off cocky as all hell but she had a soft side. It was Sarak who knew her in the most dimensions, thanks to late night adventures out of Valhalla.

Azalea glanced to Aislyn now, meeting that aqua gaze with her own fiery one. "Feel free to stick around," She said before moving away. She moved perpendicular to the way Gael faced, giving herself distance from Aislyn. She didn't stop until she was comfortable that there was enough distance between where they would fight and where Aislyn sat. Sure, maybe Aislyn did want to watch but that didn't mean she wanted the fight right at her paws.

The red head pivoted, amber eyes locking on her brother's gaze. He had their mother's eyes. "I knew you wouldn't let me down!" It was an attempt at being friendly, showing her trust in her big brother, but with her mind now switched to defense mode it came out solid, excited and otherwise unemotional. There was a smile when she spoke though, would that be enough to convey her feelings?

"So, I figured we would keep it short. It's only for practice. Two rounds, clearly no lethal wounds. Anything you would like to add? Oh yeah, you can start." Her voice rang loud and clear so that he could hear her without problem.

Meili had just gotten settled into her new home here in Valhalla thanks to her dear friend. She was happy to be here with him, to have a real home for once. It was a big change for the loner, but it was one she was trying to take in stride. She had gotten up that morning, determined to go out with the hunters to help them find food for the pack, but on her way through the territory toward the border she caught Gael's scent. Her ears perked and the looked over in the direction it came from, curious as to what her man could be up to. She hadn't seen him this morning, she had assumed he had his own places to be and things to do so she wasn't worried. Curiosity got the best of her, however, and she changed her path, turning toward the scent and picking up her pace to a quick trot.

When she arrived on the scene she saw Gael and Azalea standing face to face several yards away and her brows together while she tried her best to figure out what they could be doing. She padded up beside the pale wolfess that was sitting a distance away and sat herself beside her, dipping her head politely to the fea. Meili saw the fea's vivid blue eyes and thought back to the descriptions of the Valhallan leaders Cormalin had given her over a month ago when she met him at the battlefield. She wondered if this was Aislyn, the betta he had mentioned, but didn't ponder on it too long. She turned her teal gaze back to the pair that seemed to be in a standoff, eager to see what they would do.

"Speech."

He hadn't spent much time with his sister since he'd arrived. The last time he'd seen her was when they'd met on his first day back and they'd been talking to their uncle Syrinx. Since then, Gael had wandered off around Alacritis, subsequently meeting Meili and befriending her. He hadn't been spending much time around Valhalla, except for the last few days, since he didn't really have much of a reason to stick around. No one really needed him, he had no duties to fulfill, no one to really hang around with, so why not go out and explore. But today he was home, taking on a spar with his little sister. He loved Aza, he really did, he just felt kind of...alienated from her. It was mostly his fault, since he'd been the one to leave and he hadn't been making any type of effort to reconnect with her. Perhaps that morning's spar was the jump start they needed to start reconnecting?

Aza moved from her spot beside the white woman, walking off, almost in a semi-circle around him. He slowly began to follow her, mimicking her movements when a flash of familiar timber-hued fur caught his eye; Meili. So she'd come to watch him spar? That was...nice? He flashed her a grin, winking in her direction as he turned away from her, focusing his cerulean gaze on Azalea's amber one. I knew you wouldn't let me down! He noticed the smile that eased its way across her red lips and that made the young man feel slightly more relaxed, though not enough for him to let down his guard. I could disappoint my little sister. He teased playfully, allowing his own playful smile to curl his lips as allowed his body to switch into offensive mode. So, I figured we would keep it short. It's only for practice. Two rounds, clearly no lethal wounds. Anything you would like to add? Oh yeah, you can start. No lethal wounds and he got to start. Good enough for him. He gave her a slight nod of acknowledgement before he was off. Powerful limbs propelled the young man forward, talons digging into the dirt for maximum traction, silvery chin tucked against his broad chest, audits flattened against his skull while his eyes narrowed to slits, open enough to see but not to be prime targets, tail streamline with his spine for balance. He was headed straight towards her, looking to use to larger size as a kind of bulldozer, his main weapon being his shoulders, knocking her straight off her paws and onto her back, that way he could get an easy pin. Were she to anticipate his movement or possibly try to deflect it with her own attack, he would feign at the last moment to decide on another plan of attack.

Round 1/2

Attack: Running straight towards her, looking to barrel into her and knock her over

Defense: Chin tucked, talons digging into the soil, ears flat, eyes narrowed, tail streamline

Injuries: None

Azalea's focused dropped for a moment, her eyes following Gael's right before he looked back to her to see what had caught his attention as she walked into position. There behind him, finding a place beside Aislyn, was her brother's girlfriend.

Don't be deceived, she didn't miss the goofy grin that had found its way to her siblings face. Males matured before females, sexually, so she wasn't surprised to see him thinking with his groan. Really? An older lady? Azalea's ears folded back and she looked a bit put off for a moment. She had nearly forgotten, Soleil was older than Collision. Perhaps this should make her feel a bit ashamed of herself for thinking the way she was but no, instead she shook it off.

Cougar hunter.

They both got back to business, Gael nodding his agreement to her terms. He seemed to have no complaints and rather than verbally saying that he went immediately into his attack. It took her off guard, no doubt, but there was enough time to make the critical decisions needed before impact.

Her stance morphed as her mind processed the wolf barreling toward her. He was protecting his neck but he moved in a straight line, directly toward her. She didn't have time to anticipate anything more complex than a head on collision but Azalea had to act fast. The space between them was closing rapidly. He was too large for her to challenge head on like this, he would pummel her without a doubt.

So what else could she do but jump? It was a risky move, her legs gathering below, legs bending. She used all the force she could muster to propel herself straight up into the air. As she ascended her right hing leg pulled in, springing back out quickly as her counter attack. Gael would follow her, either because it wasn't wise to take your eyes off your opponent or because he was shocked at her counter measures. With any luck she would catch him the jaw, at least the face.

Her descent came and she hoped like hell that Gael wouldn't be under her. Sure, it would probably drop him to the ground but it would ruin her landing and then she too would have to pull herself together and scramble to her feet again. With a little luck, he would move.

-----------

Rounds: 1/2

Defense: Legs tucked up under her, aside from during her counter attack.

Attack: jumped straight up, "over" Gael (assuming he doesn't catch what she is doing soon enough), right hing leg aimed to kick him in the face, ideally the jaw.

Damage: none yet

There was no pressure in this little spar with his sister, even if his little woman was sitting on the sidelines spectating. Even if it didn't mean much, he had to keep his focus on the spar with his sister. He wanted to best her because of course, he was the older brother so he had to be better. And he was a warrior. This had to be his strong suit. Just like his father.

Even for a guy of his size, he could move quickly on his paws if he really needed to. And this occasion was one of them. Though it was a good length of space between himself and his sister, his bounding strides ate up the distance like nothing. He had he been more equal to her in size, then he might have used another tactic in order to start off their spar, but if he had size on his side, then why not use it. Cerulean slits were focused on his sister's creamy, russet figure, trying to anticipate her counter move. It wasn't until he was practically on top of his sister that he realized she was leaping out of the way. She launched herself straight up into the air when he was still several paces in the air, but those few paces brought him right underneath her. Taking advantage of his position, Gael threw his head up, keeping his ears flattened against his skull and his eyes narrowed, bumping Azalea's abdomen with his head hoping to disrupt her landing long enough for him to be able to arch around to come and pin her. What he didn't take into consideration, or at least what he hadn't been paying attention to, his sister's hind limb springing back out. Her back talons scraped across his forehead, nearly taking out his right eye had he not closed it entirely to save it from her claws, raking down towards the top of his muzzle. Gael tucked his head back towards his chest, tucking his tail between his hocks to avoid it becoming a target, pulling it away from her flailing limb as he rushed out from underneath her. He shook his head as he snapped his eyes back open, taking several more paces before arching around to his left, looking to charge back towards his sister and pin her if his hit had landed.

Round 2/2

Attack: Raised his head and bumped Azalea's abdomen, hoping to disrupt her landing

Defense: Ears flattened, eyes narrowed, right eye completely closed to avoid total gauging

Injuries: Scratches from his forehead down to the bridge of his muzzle

Azalea felt weightless as her body took flight, lifting into the air. It was her legs that felt heavy. They were the weakest link here. If Gael wanted to, he could stand on his hing legs and pluck her from the sky like she were no more than a fly.

She wasn't so worried anymore, though. Her nerves replaced by adrenaline, focusing all her attention on the task at hand. It was an impressive thing for Azalea, considering how she was usually so easily distracted. The change was night and day. Where usually she seemed so happy-go-lucky she was now in a no-nonsense state of mind.

Her brother's ease of movement didn't surprise her. He had large paws and good strong muscle from months of traveling. Sure, he wasn't nearly as agile as she was but he could still move with considerable ease. Their builds were two different things. Azalea had shorter legs than he did and in general was smaller. She was built to fight on the ground with the tools of stealth and cunning on her side. If she were to take directs at Gael, she would quickly be put to shame as he was far superior in head to head combat.

She had gauged her attack correctly, her larger sibling ending up below her just as she had hoped. His head even went up, but not in a way she had expected. Her lift was not great, she was no expert jumper and it wasn't like she went out practicing her vertical leaps. So when Gael lifting his head, he nearly hit his mark. He ended up hitting her behind the ribs, right where her leg and torso met. It would have done little damage if she hadn't already been in motion to kick him in the face.

She felt her claws drag, her eyes pinched closed against the pain of his head ramming into her tensed muscles. It wasn't your usual attack and it was already a rather sensitive portion of the body. She wasn't ready for it and her leg snapped back up instantly, ending whatever assault was taking place on her brother's two-toned face. Azalea yelped, her eyes opening long enough to see the ground before impact.

Her landing was rough, her shoulder hitting hard, but she managed to tuck her head at the last instant so that her body rolled. It was a narrow dodge, had she not managed to roll herself, she would have surely jerked she shoulder out of place.

Her roll phased her out to her being right side up. She shoved to her feet, rocking off balance as she realized that maybe her shoulder wasn't okay. A bout of pain shot down her left shoulder all the way down to her paw. The Heir clenched her teeth.

Amber eyes calculated the situation, mentally cursing the time of year. The grass was not yet tall enough for her to squat down and disappear. In this open space there were hardly any tricks she could use to get close.

She zipped right, letting her right leg take the lead. There was a limp in her movement, it slowed her down. Gael was already too close but not close enough. Cutting back on the angle, she drew herself nearer to him, very aware that he could spring at her at any instant. Throwing all she could into it, the yearling gal let herself dip back left, toward Gael's side.

If Gael moved now, it was very likely she would not be able to stop. Her shoulder was still aching too bad for her to imagine putting the weight on it for her to stop herself. Her head had lowered, chin tucking in and head angled to the left. Blocking her neck and at the same time offering more support to her shoulder. Her body tensed and ears folded back, anticipating impact into Gael's own left shoulder.

Jaws parted, aiming to grab his leg and rough it up some. She owned him a little pain for what she was feeling right now.

For as brief as the fight was going to be, she could feel her body tiring. The pain in her shoulder drawing far too much from her. If she had been used to pain, perhaps she would be able to last longer here but unfortunately that was not the case and internally her body was rushing to fix the damage that was done. At the very least her shoulder was bruised, she could feel the heat in it as her heart pumped much needed oxygenated blood to that portion of her body rather than to where she needed it.

Azalea knew this would be the last strike she got, hopefully Gael would fight back head on rather than dodge her blow and send her crashing to the ground.

-------------

Rounds: 2/2

Defense: head down, ears back with her chin lightly. Head angled toward her shoulder to avoid her neck being targeted.

Attack: Throwing all her weight into Gael, teeth poised to grab his leg at the elbow.

Damage: pain in shoulder, likely it has been sprained.

The aging woman watched the youth practice, pools of blue trailing after each movement. She wanted to interrupt more than once, correcting their posture and defenses, but she kept quiet. When the fight was completely done she would give her opinion. She saw a few things wrong, which was expected since they were both so young. She was really bothered by Azalea's first movements. She had tried to completely jump over her brother, which put her in a very vulnerable state. If she would have been battling against fierce competition, her throat, chest, belly, or legs could have been brutally attacked. A quick hold on her throat could have ended it all, and a ripped opened womb could lead to a slow, painful death. Being the heir of Valhalla the young woman had a lot of training to do, especially in battle. Maybe one of these days she would step in and train her alongside Liberty. Why not kill two birds with one stone? As far as Gael went, he needed to work on his defenses, and the use of his fangs. Surely this was a practice run, but in real battle a true warrior does not pass up an opportunity to strike ad kill. She hoped deep down he knew that.

A grin crossed her muzzle when Gael looked back to wink at her, but quickly wiped the grin away when she saw Azalea look her way. She got the feeling that the Heir didn't appreciate her presence around her brother, but Meili tried to not let it bother her. She knew she had a lot of work to do to win over his family, but she hoped they would grow to like her or at least tolerate her.

Meili watched the sparr with curiosity. Since she remembered little to nothing about her early life, she didn't remember ever training with her siblings, if she had even had any, so the sparr was very interesting to the timber hued fea. While Meili had never been actually trained to fight, but being a loner she had been in her share of positions that she had to defend herself. Watching the pair fight, she was surprised by a lot of the things they did, particularly when Azalea tried to jump straight up over Gael. It was a risky move at best, but it was very interesting. In certain situations it might come in handy and it obviously was slightly effective since she landed a blow to Gale's face. Meili flinched when she saw the Heir's claws land the blow, scraping down her man's face, but the fea stayed quiet, holding her spot on the sideline. She flinched again as Azalea hit the ground. Her risky move had come at a price. That was definitely going to hurt later. Meili wondered briefly how often the young wolves here sparred like this and if she should be working on her fighting skills as well. She waited patiently for them to finish and silently hoped Gael wouldn't get any more injuries.

10 for clarity-

10 for powerplaying.

0 for defenses. No defenses mentioned except for tucking her leg momentarily

6 for attack. leaping straight up and out of his way, while trying to kick him with her back limb. I?m not certain she could have jumped high enough straight up (with no running start), given that he is taller than her, to completely clear him as she intends to do.

10 for injuries. First round

Round one Azalea Total: 36/50

Round 2

Gael:

10 for clarity- Notes

7 for powerplaying. ?bumping Azalea?s abdomen with his head? you have to say attempt to keep from powerplaying like this.

10 for defenses. Ears pinned, eyes narrowed (closed momentarily, then reopened) head tucked, tail tucked

3 for attack. Hoping to knock her off course with a head bump to the abdomen

8 for injuries. Minor, but present.

Round two Gael Total: 38/50

Round two Azalea Total: 36/50

Totals:

Gael: 81/100

Azalea: 72/100

And the winner is...

Gael! Azalea must give up by either submitting, fleeing, or passing out.

Damage:

Gael- Scratches to his face will take 3 OOC days to heal, while a few may permanently scar.

Azalea- Sprained shoulder will take 1 OOC week to heal, and will impede motion during that week.

Notes:

Tips for both writing, and some suggestions. (no points are deducted here)
Good fight, ya?ll!

For trynx
Your biggest downfall during this fight was that you lacked basic defenses in each post. I think you were assuming them, but not writing them down. Overall it was a good fight, but in the future try to remember to set your defenses each time you post.

For wolfeyez
You fought very well. I would recommend watching your wording, because you had a minor powerplaying issue.
