Nice Day For Fishin' Aint It? Huh Hah!
Word had reached Winterfell about a festival on the east coast, and of course, Dragon just had to go. He was getting older, which meant he wasn't getting any younger. Still, he retained his youthful energy and decided to go and have some fun. Together with his companions, they reached the Eastern beach and proceeded to trek across the sandy beach until they reached a spot just before the river met the ocean. He was told of a fishing derby, and while the blind male hadn't tried his paw at fishing since he lost his sight, he wanted to challenge himself. So, here he was. At first, he hadn't been sure how the hell he was going to do it, but with the advice of his companions, he was going to try something that would hopefully work for him. His companions both sat on the shore and removed his armor from him to allow freer movement for the task ahead. Shaking out his coat, he approached the water and carefully walked into the stream. The water wove gently around his feet as he waded in up to elbows.
Steadying himself, the earthen male stared sightlessly at the water in front of him, remembering what his companions had advised him on the way here. He remained completely still, not daring to move a single muscle except for a quick twitch of his ears to shoo away the flies that decided to join in and buzz around his head. Nose twitched. Eyelids twitched. And he even struggled not to shake his head, but he didn't dare move any but the slightest muscles so as not to mess up his concentration. As a fly started to buzz around his face, he swore he felt something bump his foot, but it had been too quick at first for him to be sure. A few more moments passed, there! He felt something nibbling his toes and as fast as he could, his muzzle lunged into the water with jaws wide open as he attempted to close his teeth around what he hoped was a fish. |

"hello, mister!" she said brightly yet in a low hush so not to scare the fish. Siobhan plopped down beside the older man, spotting her Papa watching from the sidelines. this man looked nice and he was all alone, so she decided to keep him company. of course, she asked Torin if it was okay before approaching him. smiling up at the much larger man, the girl stared into his blind eyes. when she arrived, he had already tried to hook a fish. "w-wow!" she burst out, his attempt either a failure or not. that didn't matter. "lemme try!" crouching her little body down to the earth, she flashed out a paw in hopes of catching something. her aim was for a small fish. a minnow of some sort. anything to help her rack up points. Siobhan already wanted to enter lots of events and get lots of stuff. the race would be fun, but the fishing was like... well, it was great! she could learn to help Lirim with hunting. she bent her neck down like the man did and tried to hide her disgust. her jaws tried to close. a silly smelly fish... why couldn't it be bunny hunting? ooc; sio tries to hook a fish! attempt 1 |
Fished!
Success! He felt his teeth close around a larger-than-expected fish and it wriggled and flopped in his mouth, slapping his snout with its tail as it tried to break free. "Hello, mister!" Ah! So he had company eh? And by the sound of it, a very young sort of company. He motioned for Shiva to take the fish from him, and once the Jaguaress did and took it back to shore, he glanced down at the little girl. "Hello, seems I have a fishing partner eh? I'm Dragon, welcome aboard!" He chuckled, ears twitching as he listened to her slap the water. Well, that wasn't a bad idea...for someone who could see. His method seemed to work for him, and was probably the only method he could do.
He returned to his statue-like position, waiting for another fish to investigate him before striking out again, this time trying to pin it with his paw as quickly as he could.

good! the man didn't seem to mind her joining him. she'd wag her tail in excitement at meeting such a fierce battle-scarred warrior. who did he fight and for how long to get those scars? it was so interesting... but she knew she shouldn't ask. it was rude. "I'm Siobhan, Mister Dragon" she'd introduce herself, bowing her head like Papa and Mama taught her. manners first, even if she was excited. "my Papa is Torin, alpha of Lirim." her eyes strayed away from Dragon to meet her father's watchful gaze. she hoped he was proud of her efforts. her gaze jerked away from her father and Dragon as she hooked a small fish. far from being discouraged by her partner's massive catch, she gave a cheerful whoop at his success. "wowie! I hope I get a big one like that!" she'd lay the fish to the side after biting its neck. it took a few tries to get right but she clumsily severed the muscle none the less. "round two!" she'd giggle as she shot her snout into the water to drum up some fish. the cold water was a relief from the burning summer sun last month. she wondered how cold this winter got? ooc; sio tries to hook a fish! attempt 2 |
The girl introduced herself as Siobhan and said her father was the Alpha of Lirim. He had heard of them, but hadn't been around there in a long time. Probably since he had been alpha, but even then he couldn't recall visiting the pack...hadn't they been around for a few years? Probably one of the quieter ones if he'd never really been around or heard much about them. "Nice to meet you Siobhan! Do you mind if I call you Sio? Would make it faster if I find a bigger fish for you," He winked at her. Or rather, towards where he figured she was. He wouldn't mind helping her try to catch a big fish. Speaking of which, he felt a wriggling mass under his paw and realized he had managed to catch what felt like another big fish. Grinning from ear to ear, he leaned down and grabbed in his mouth before tossing it towards his companions who caught and killed it. This would make some good dinner later!
Her surprise at the fish he caught was enough to make him smile warmly at her, "I bet you can catch one bigger than me," He exclaimed. So far he wondered how big the fish she caught were, but judging by the minimal splashing he heard after she caught one told him more or less it probably wasn't as big as his. He returned his attention to the water, seemingly trying to concentrate but it wasn't too helpful when he couldn't see. While his tactic had been working so far, he wanted to have a bit more fun with it and entertain his little companion for the moment. Besides, he was already fishing blind. What would it matter what he did? He either caught something or he didn't. Coiling his hind legs, he jumped forward with forelegs outstretched and sought to land in the water with a splash. Hopefully, he'd land on a fish while he was at it.

once more, she pulled up a small fish. frowning at her lack of luck so far, her attention would go back to Dragon as he asked a question. "you can call me Sio, yep!" the girl immediately yipped, smiling brightly. Papa called her Lil Bean, so she was quite pleased it'd still be Papa's special nickname for her and that Mister Dragon didn't think to call her that too. she was too young to add her rank in with the rest of her introduction; she wasn't even sure what her rank was in Lirim. just that she was part of it. "ooh! I could feed all of Lirim with a fish that big!" her purple eyes went wide at the thought. a fish bigger than Mister Dragon couldn't be in these depths. could they? she shot a look toward the water before the man flopped in. she'd gasp as the cold water hit her. "brr!" the girl shuddered, completely drenched. but she knew this was her chance! trying not to slip on the grass, she'd launch a paw into the water and hope to catch something that perhaps was disturbed by the man's giant jump. ooc; sio tries to hook a fish! attempt 3 |

this time. this time she caught something bigger. "yaaay!" she cried out as a medium sized fish was scooped out of the water. she bent her head to nip at the neck, severing the life flow. her voice was muffled from dragging the fish out of the water, but her point was across. she was getting better! that was good! she wanted to make Papa and Mama proud, and bring home lots of fish. Mister Dragon even offered to give his fish to her. her violet eyes went wide. "I couldn't take your fish, Mister Dragon!" Siobhan protested with an amusing shake of her head. his pack needed them, didn't they? and he was so big; he must need all of them to eat and get full. shyly, she'd duck her head. "but t-thank you. you're so nice!" manners, always. she'd feel bad if she took his fish. he was doing so well; surely he had someone or some people to show his catches to? spotting movement below the waves again, she'd dive. so far so good. she was at least catching what she saw. ooc; sio tries to hook a fish! attempt 4 |
Attempt 5

and now, she caught something even bigger! Siobhan puffed with effort as she dragged the large fish from the water, keeping one eye on Dragon as he explained himself. as she killed the fish and added it to her smaller pile, she'd turn back to him. "all the way north?" she gasped in awe, twisting her head to view the snowy peaks. that was such a long way away! how did he manage to walk here? what were his packmates like? did they miss him? did he have family there? she decided against bombarding him with questions. she decided to focus on the important stuff. "maybe... its better than letting them all go bad" the girl conceded. Papa would be so happy to have so many fish, and Mama could eat her fill! Siobhan giggled at the thought of bringing all the fish to her amazed parents and siblings. "Mister Dragon, I caught a big one this time!" the girl bounced, pawing her fish over to the blind wolf so he could 'see' it. before Dragon could reply, however, she already had her head sticking in the water. time for another round! ooc; sio tries to hook a fish! attempt 5 |
So far, Sio seemed to change her mind a bit on the fish he offered and he nodded encouragingly. It was a genuine offer. He had no intention of trying to take it all back home with him. As he was about to turn to try and catch another fish, he heard her excited voice calling his name as she exclaimed she caught a big one. His tail wagged, a smile gracing his lips as he turned his sightless gaze in her direction. "That's great Sio! See? I knew you could do it!" And indeed she had! He felt something by his paw and he leaned down to touch his nose to the big fish she had caught. He ran his nose over its length, happy for the girl at her monstrous catch. She wasn't his kid, but he was proud of her accomplishment regardless. As he inspected the fish, he heard a splash on the other side of him and he quickly turned to plunge his head in the water in an effort to try and catch whatever that was. Fish? Frog? A rock? Whatever it was, he'd find out sooner or later.

she giggled with glee at the older man's congratulations. Siobhan didn't know she could do it, but slowly and surely she was getting the hang of fishing. it was like what she said once; she only wanted to help Lirim, and fishing was the way to do it. at least, for her. Lili had a special spot in their pack as heir, but Siobhan didn't have much of a rank. she was a young thing, and was given a young title as a result. her little tail wagged to the side as Dragon inspected her catch, though, feeling proud of herself. "I'm learning from you!" even if his attempts were blunders at times, wild and unpredictable, she was learning. without waiting for his reply, she'd dive for another attempt. here, fishie fishies! ooc; sio tries to hook a fish! attempt 6 |

"Mister Dragon, what's your pack's name?" she asked as she came up for air. breathing slightly hard, she gasped to fill her lungs after her attempt. all the events and such were taking a toll on the pup. she was beginning to feel exhausted with each one, but fishing was super hard so far. she'd surely be learning how to hunt more as she aged. "you said you live north but I dunno what packs are up there." she'd tilt her head at him before a shadow caught her eye. she smiled at the blind man before diving for another attempt. ooc; sio tries to hook a fish! attempt 7 |
Attempt 8

oooh, so it was called Winterfell. yep, Mister Dragon was the first Winterfell wolf she'd met so far. "maybe I can visit you when I'm older?" she'd ask shyly, shuffling her paws a bit as she did so. Siobhan didn't stop to think that he'd be much older than her by the time she was allowed to leave pack lands. maybe he'd be too old to remember her too. or maybe much time had passed by then that he didn't recall? she failed to notice just how old he was; to her, all adults were old after all. "I don't have... many friends outside my family." she'd add in, diving for another fish. ooc; sio tries to hook a fish! attempt 8 |
attempt 9

"yay!" she'd bounce, happy that she had gotten through to the blind wolf and made a friend. maybe not just one friend, but his companions seemed eager to play too. Siobhan wondered how a big cat like that played... "Imma gonna visit Winterfell!" if it was okay with Papa and Mama when she was older that is. she wanted so badly to visit lots of places but also knew she was restricted until she was at least yearling age. it was for her safety; she was just glad Papa let them come to this festival. swiping idly at the water now, the girl would try to hook her nineth attempt at a fish. whether she caught one or not, she'd beam at Dragon and his companions. "I wanna s'plore lots of places when I'm old enough." she informed him. ooc; sio tries to hook a fish! attempt 9 |
He felt something dart between his legs, and he quickly turned around and dashed after it before it got away. Both forepaws slapping into the water as he flopped onto his belly. Hopefully, he'd manage to catch something. But while he was down here..."I hope you do get to explore the world, Sio. There's so much to see and lots of new things to learn about! You'll have lots of fun!" It was all he did before he lost his sight. He still did, but he did it differently.

she beamed at him, not understanding nor noticing the sad smile he wore. "I'll hafta ask Papa, but sure!" her eyes floated to where Torin was watching. so far he hadn't intervened but soon she'd have to leave Mister Dragon to go home. she was getting so tired she could barely paw at the water now. stifling a yawn, she'd dive for another fish. Mama was going to be so mad she ruined her pretty fur. it was sticking up in various directions, her body was soaked and perhaps she'd get a cold come the morning... but it was all worth it! "ten now! wish me luck, Mister Dragon!" she added with a forced giggle as she dived. ooc; sio tries to hook a fish! attempt 10 |
