So... firefly catching. Like he'd told Aiden, he'd never really been much of a swimmer - or a fisher, for that matter, despite Abaven's lands bordering the rapids (not that the rapids were the best place to fish anyway) - so he was somewhat glad to move on to something that took place on land. The sun was beginning to set, and Corvus snagged a weird looking satchel that he wasn't totally sure how he'd use to catch fireflies.. but he'd give it a damn good shot.

At least he was getting to spend time with his brother. That was a definite plus. His mood had been relative somber lately, so this was a welcome distraction. Padding away from a group of wolves, he spotted a sparkling chain of lights up ahead, and he loped forward - trying to usher them into the bag's opening with one extended paw, not sure if this was how he was supposed to do it or not.

Shaye had completed her firefly quest, and handed over the goods to one of the staff running the show. She held onto the bag however, and made her way through the firefly-rich lands as she looked for members of her pack, or just people in general that still looked as though they needed to add to their stashes.

She enjoyed the buzzing atmosphere of the festival, the laughter she had seen in the wolves that past her by. Just as she had told Fracture, she believed members of her pack, and others beyond, needed this.

She caught the scent of Corvus and turned her head in his direction with a surprised smile. The young man, well still learning how to associate with his new rank in Abaven, hadn’t been a very outwards man. It was good to see him here, and she approached him with a smile. “Corcus, just starting on the fireflies?” she asked with a friendly smile.

This was definitely a much-needed break. Enough wolves remained in Abaven that he didn't have to worry about leaving the pack for such a journey, and.. judging by the array of scents here, he knew Abaven wasn't the only one that was here participating in the festivities. Not only might it be a good excuse to get away for a bit and have some fun - even more fun, he decided, now that his brother had joined them - but it might be a good way to figure out what else was going on in the rest of Boreas. Abaven, despite its size, was still just a small sliver of the world; he'd been reminded of that on his brief journey to see Ignis in Winterfell.

He knew Shaye had come, so her arrival wasn't a total surprise. He tilted his head her direction, offering a small smile of his own. He really was starting to feel better, at least emotionally - he wasn't even sure anyone had noticed his minor injuries from the fire. He hadn't brought it to anyone's attention, hadn't felt a need to.  "Yeah. I was spending some time with Aiden - fishing," he explained, twisting his head to try to reach out for a passing cluster of the bugs, trying to usher them into his bag on the ground as he pushed the opening further apart with his other paw.  'What about you? All finished?"

She returned his smile, and gave a nod as she mentioned Aiden, who had appeared at their body a little skinny and out of sorts, but had been seen to and was slowly emerging into the larger part of Abaven. She remembered that they were brothers, and Corvus’s delight when he had seen his brother. Shaye was glad family had returned to him, even if it left a soft pang in the old woman's heart as she remembered those she had loved and lost and would never see again.

“I am, I’m just checking on the others and seeing where people are up to.” she explained, watching as he scooped a passing cluster of bugs into his paw. She grinned as she watched him. “I found giving the bag a shake well it's closed, and twisting it in the middle, kept the bugs stuck in there well i picked up more.’ she explained to him the tactic she had been using.

Aiden's health had definitely been improving, something that he was beyond grateful for. At least... he seemed to be getting healthier physically. Mentally he wasn't so sure. They'd always been close when they were young, but Corvus wasn't really one who spent a lot of time sitting and talking about his feelings.. even to Aiden, so he wasn't sure how to check how he was doing emotionally. Surely if Rhea was still around she'd be much better at that than he was..

His thoughts were distracted, but quickly pulled back to Shaye as she gave him some guidance. The thought of dragging some cool prize home was definitely appealing, so maybe he needed to try a bit harder to win...

"Yeah?" He cast her a curious look, though soon returned to focusing on his bag. He saw a flash of light inside, and hoped that meant he'd caught some, and he carefully used a paw to roll the mouth of the bag around and shake it slightly - hoping he was pushing them to the bottom of the sack. "Bit of a weird game, but it's fun," he said with a grin, glancing her way as if to see if she felt the same way.  "A nice distraction," Corvus added finally as he aimed to lift the bag with one paw and usher a few more bugs into it.

He seemed agreeable to try her way, and he did as she suggested with the bag, giving it a bit of a shake. She hoped he would be able to get a good haul, and was more than amenable to helping him out. She would pass him a few fireflies of her own, if she didn’t think it would get them both disqualified. Besides, it would ruin the fun if they didn’t play the game to its full extent.

“It one of the strangest” she agreed, having never heard of anything like this before. Of course, she was open to the idea of new things, and a lot of the packs had mentioned to her in passing their desire to build group festivals and so on within the lands. Someone else had simply bet them to it, and she wanted to encourage it. It was a great idea to bring people from all walks of life together.

“It is a good distraction, and i’m glad to see a few Abaven wolves attending she agreed easily “Heres another cluster now” she said, pointing at the bugs as they drifted closer.

Wait, was Shaye.. helping him cheat? Then again, there hadn't really been rules laid out. Catch the most fireflies you could in the allotted time, and you'd get rewarded. At least it made him feel some sort of camaraderie between Shaye and himself - more than usual, not that he had much reason to not feel that way about his family member and leader. "Thanks," he said softly, his faint grin returning.

He nodded at her direction, using a paw to gently guide the fireflies into his bag. They definitely were pretty, and there was something weird about scooping them all up, but... he hadn't come up with his game. Hopefully at the end they'd set them all free? It seemed a bit pointless otherwise.

"I've been thinking a little about my role as Blackthorn," he said, a bit hesitantly, after a moment. He didn't want Shaye to think he only cared about fun and distractions. Truthfully, he didn't spend all that much time enjoying himself, even if he probably needed to focus a bit more on his duties. "Sorry if it's Rhyme I should be talking to about this, but I remember you saying I needed to mentor someone. I know you've been working with Poem and Theory, but I'd be happy to help mentor one of them if you wanted."

Shaye had been careful to keep all of her fireflies alive, and she too wondered what their fate would be at the end of of this festival. If they would make lamps from their lights, or release them. They were certainly going to have a lot of them, whatever they decide to do…

She hadn’t expected the conversation to turn to pack matters, and turned her attention to him so that he would know she was listening and curious. “You can talk to either of us” She promised him, though she had told him that Rhyme specialised in the warrior part of pack duties. His offer surprised and pleased her, and she straightened up, not needed to consider it. “That’s an excellent suggestion Corvus, both of them need exposure to different teachers, do you have a preference?” she asked him. If he didn’t want to pick, she would happily assign one of the two to him.

Corvus was pleased when he successfully scooped a few fireflies into the bag. Drifting only slightly away from Shaye, he pawed at another, scooping it into the bag and then shaking the bag out using the method Shaye had described earlier. It was surprisingly effective - and hopefully he was doing a bit better now, no longer seeing the fireflies zooming out of the bag.

He twisted back toward Shaye when he asked her the question, nodding at her reassurance. "I appreciate it," he said softly, letting a faint smile touch his lips. "Perhaps Theory? She shows a lot of potential.`" He tentatively suggested, having no real preference - he didn't know any of the children in Abaven well, and knew he needed to make strides to change that. Hopefully mentoring one of them would be a good start.
