Flavor Explosion!
Brandr moved to a new area of the lake, worried that the commotion he was making when diving his head down was starting to make the fish wary. He felt it might increase his chances to keep on the move and find another nice quiet spot to continue. If he rotated regularly he might be able to keep the fish unawares. Finding a nice little cove he waded slowly into the water, up to his belly and there he waited. Spying a flash of light upon scales he dove his head down hoping to come up with a good sized fish. There was the competition of course but he also hoped to bring home a nice haul to Abaven and in particular to his wife and child.
It was time for Leonce to move onto fishing, he spotted a wolf that he recognized from Abaven and decided to set up camp nearby. Leonce had only tried fishing a couple of times, none of which had been successful. Maybe this time would be the time it clicked. Leonce began to paw around for a fish with the idea in mind to catch one by just stepping on it. As he did so he shot a couple of words over to the Abaven wolf “I don’t think we’ve met I’m Leonce” Of course with his tell tale goofy grin. |
Brandr waited again, his head hovering over the water and he tried to relax the muscles in his neck. There was a lot of waiting in fishing and he didn't want his muscles to cramp from holding tension for too long. Another flash of movement and he struck. Movement caught his attention and he looked up to see a black and white male who introduced himself as Leonce. "Hello Leonce, I'm Brandr of Abaven. How's the fishing been for you so far? Are you from this area?" He thought it would be worthwhile to make some small talk to ease the waiting that fishing required.
To Leonce’s surprise he managed to catch a fish between his paws, picking it up in his mouth he threw it in the direction of land. Had Colin been here he would’ve asked if he could carry the fish back to land, but the ferret had gone and run off elsewhere. |
Brandr's head jerked up at the mention of Abaven and he felt his ears burning. "Really? Goodness, I'm sorry I didn't recognize you. I haven't been very good about socializing lately. Especially since the fire." He turned his head and snorted sharply to clear the water out of his nostrils as well as the mucus. Hopefully that would take care of it or he'd need to have his wife examine his nose. Now that was a scary thought! Scent was vital to a hunter. He couldn't imagine what he'd do if he lost his sense of smell.
A fish moved down near his right foreleg and he quickly twisted his head down to try and nab it, hoping to keep his nostrils more closed this time but he could already tell this was a losing battle.
Leonce was relieved to hear that he wasn’t the only one who hadn’t been that social since the fire. His attempts at learning how to heal had been taking up most of his time. After the festival was over he should probably make more of an attempt to get to know his pack members. “I haven’t been that great at socializing either, I’ve been a bit distracted.” He really needed to do something outwardly productive, especially since Shaye and Rhyme had been nice enough to let him in to begin with. |
Brandr was relieved he wasn't the only one. "Maybe Abaven could put on some little festival for members to get to know each other better. I could suggest the idea to Shaye when we head back." Maybe a little party would lift the spirits of his wife and daughter, at least for a little while. He knew that the loss of Storm was a wound that was likely to scar but he hoped he could help with the healing. Dipping his head toward the water Brandr waited again for another fish. He tensed when he saw the telltale glint of light of scaled and he dove down once more hoping for a big one.
A pack gathering sounded like a good idea to him. It would be a nice chance to meet more of his pack mates and the pack needed a morale booster since the fire had gotten everyone down, or at least that’s how Leonce felt. “That sounds like a good idea, I know the fire had an effect on all of us. Maybe it could take wolves from different specialties and put them in groups!” Leonce was getting excited about this idea. He wanted to become a solid member of the pack and this seemed like a good way to do it. He eagerly went down to catch his next fish, if this could actually happen he could say he helped start a party. |
