Her other siblings were so rowdy! Lumi wanted nothing more than her mother's love - and to follow the rules, of course! She was dawdling in the den alone, unsure of where everyone had gotten off to. While she wanted to explore, the little pup was torn; was she allowed to? Was it against the rules to leave? Troubled by the question, Lumi began to pace in circles. Hopefully someone would come along and point her in the right direction before she wore a track in the ship's floor. Although she knew there was an "outside," the ship seemed like the biggest thing in the entire world. It was her entire world; little did she know that an entire wintry tundra awaited her outside of the ship's hull. Once she stepped outside there would be no going back.

"Lumi?" Heloise poked her head around the corner, having spotted her little form going back and forth. entering fully into the area, she would come to sit before her daughter. her fluffy tail curled daintlty over her front paws, though her icy eyes held warmth for the little girl as she stared down at her. "what are you up to, love?" she asked, tilting her head slightly. her daughter seemed to like the rules that were in place compared to her other siblings, causing her to think maybe she was left out a bit. Heloise herself was a stickler for tradition and rules; it warmed her heart that her youngest would take after her. especially since it seemed Lumi would not grow much in comparison to the larger wolves she was related to. Heloise did not care if she did; she'd love the girl regardless, but it also made them closer. she was not a tall wolf. not by any means. "if you have time, perhaps we can do something together?" Heloise added brightly.

When her mother appeared around the corner, Lumi rushed eagerly to her side. The girl's small stubbed tail was wriggling so hard that the entire lower half of her body was moving in time. Her happiness bubbled forth like a free-flowing river that had been swollen with springtime rain - simply put, the girl was a tiny, unstoppable force of nature. "Mama!" She said, nuzzling against Heloise's leg. They were different enough but it was clear that they were related from the slope of their muzzles and Lumi's pale coloring.

"Well, I guess I was just waiting for you," she replied, smiling. There wasn't much that Lumi got up to on her own without the watchful eyes of one parent or another. It did have her feeling a bit left out, but she much preferred to obey her parents than to fool around and get in trouble - no matter how much her siblings goaded her! "Yes, yes! Let's do something together!" Lumi would do anything if Mama was by her side.

now that her children were able to roam, Heloise felt that they would soon make friends with the other youth in Winterfell. apparently, Lumi was having some trouble with that. her brothers weren't around nor were her sisters. they had all gone off on their own, leaving the girl to her pacing. "very well" the woman smiled down at her daughter as the girl positively bounced in excitement. "we could play or I could teach you how to hold your own against your siblings?" her icy gaze sparkled with mischief. the girl would not grow up to be the sizable height of her mostly dire kin. it was important for Lumi to learn how to handle herself in a fight, to be able to defend herself against a much larger opponent. though this would be a playfight and a gentle lesson, Heloise felt confident her daughter was up to the task. "or we could even make something" she also offered kindly, looking around the ship. there was plenty to make. she recalled helping Tornadic with his spear and wondered how the boy was doing now. "what would you like to do?"

"Uuumm..." Making things sounded like a lot of fun. There wasn't much to the sparse den quarters except the chilly metal floor and walls of the ship. Lumi sure would have liked something to snuggle up in while her mother and father were out and about. But she liked the sparkle of mischief in her mother's eyes - it was exciting. "Okay, maybe the first thing! Holding my own," she said, smiling shyly. There had been some scuffles, of course, just like any litter. A distinct pecking order would form as they grew up. Lumi never imagined herself at the top of it, but at the bottom without any scrapes or cuts sounded just fine to her.

"I wanna know how to not get hurt," the pup added. Defensive fighting would be her own secret weapon! You didn't always have to attack, right?

Heloise chuckled fondly at her daughter, bending her slender neck to plant a lick upon her head. "unfortunately, you can always get hurt" because they were mortals, they bled. they injured themselves. be it intentional or not, it was what made them wolves. it made them living beings. separate from gods and monsters. "but I will teach you some basic defense so you aren't at a disadvantage" she told the girl with a firm nod. walking a brief way away from Lumi, she squared her shoulders and prepared herself for a defensive stance. "what you want to do is balance your body. make sure no one can topple you easily" she went on, sliding into the role easily enough. it was both good training and good practice when she was mentoring Tsunami. she had been held up with that, seeing as she had been pregnant but now that her children were older she would do the mentoring as assigned. "where do you think your brothers and sisters will try to attack first? the throat? the eyes? maybe even the tail? learning a wolf's mindset is just as important as fighting them head-on." she didn't want to say larger wolves were only brutes and lacking imagination. Lumi's father proved that wrong. "try balancing, dear." she asked the little girl, dropping her own stance to move to her daughter's side. she would cover where to protect next, not wishing to overwhelm the girl all at once. Lumi carefully placed all four paws apart from each other, trying to strike a powerful stance and copying her mother's form. It was more difficult than it looked! Although she didn't wobble, she certainly didn't feel very stable. "Hmm..." she thought aloud, trying different paw positions. They all felt about the same. Maybe when she was bigger it would feel a bit more in control. Her siblings seemed much more sure of themselves. Part of balancing probably had to do with being sure of yourself. Lumi looked away, a bit embarrassed. She wanted very badly to impress her mother; the pup couldn't help but feel that she was coming up short.

"Is this okay?" she asked, looking up hopefully at her mother. Heloise always seemed to know what she was doing: her actions were purposeful and regal. "I don't really know where they'd try to attack... I just kinda, uh, stay out of their way," she said softly. Lumi wasn't one to start fights.
