Absentmindedly Tyrian drug a stick through the thick goopy tar. In conversation with Jupiter, who had experience with the stuff, Tashi had mentioned offhandedly that it could be used to join things together. He wasn't sure his nephew had picked up on that, but it had certainly piqued Tyrian's interest. His current go-to method for joining things was lashing, which was effective in most cases but not always practical. So he was curious about this tar stuff.

Tyrian flopped down beside a bubbling pit - careful to avoid the edge - and began to use the stick he was holding as a spatula of sorts to smear tar across the tops of nearby rocks. Each rock got a different amount of tar and then he began to top each rock with another rock. After awhile he'd see if any of the tar sandwiches showed promise of sticking together.
Tyrian has a saber-toothed snow leopard companion named Zahir, a black-footed gray langur named Tashi and a striped skunk companion he insists on calling Righty even though her name is Daisy. Assume all are nearby if not mentioned.

Antigone carefully navigated her way through the tar pits, avoiding the sticky mess as much as possible. She was cautious with each step, testing her footing before allowing her full weight to be placed on the paws moving forward. A slip into the goo would surely be a death sentence, and while it certainly would have been safer, and perhaps smarter, to avoid the area all together, she had been lured in. Perhaps she would find something to hold her attention for a while.

Up ahead, she saw a large form crouched beside a pit with stacks of rocks lined up beside him, with a layer of tar slathered between the stones. She stood back for a moment to watch, wondering silently what he was doing before she decided that simply speculating from a distance was a waste of time. She moved towards him, her pace slightly faster now that she had a purpose, whereas before she had simply been wandering with no set destination. She stopped a short distance to the side of him, her gaze flickering towards the stones once more. ”Arts and crafts project?” She questioned, a slight smirk tugging the corners of her mouth, waiting expectantly for the stranger to explain himself.

Tyrian cocked his head and peeked up at the woman as she approached. His ears too swiveled around to take her in, but the rest of him remained unmoved. He was cocky and thought he had little to fear from strangers. As for the woman she was a great deal smaller than him, earthy in color and maybe as old as Chaos, but he was young and terrible at ages, so it was hard to say for sure. Anyone older than him was simply lumped into the category of "adult" and their age wasn't given much more consideration than that.

"Ohh," he said wryly as he stretched. "Something like that, I suppose. My companion over there," he nodded to Tashi who sat in a small, gnarled tree picking his nails, "Says this stuff can be used to hold things together." Tashi was quick to pipe up, "And waterproofing, don't forget that." Tyrian nodded before saying with a smirk, "And waterproofing, but I can't test the truthfulness of that claim right here, right now."

The male turned to look at her, and she instantly recognized the youth in his face but what caught her attention was the massive canines protruding from his mouth. He stretched as he began to speak, explaining what the goal of his strang experiment, and stating that his companion had given him the idea. Her gaze flickered briefly to the langur as it piped up with the additional benefits of the tar, before returning to the young man in front of her. ”Hm…” She looked back to the stacks of rocks skeptically, wondering how it would do the things he claimed it would. ”Does it actually work?” With how sticky the stuff was, the concept didn’t seem that far fetched, but it was certainly not something she had ever considered herself and she was curious about how well the tar actually preformed.

Tyrian opened his mouth to reply before it occurred to him that he didn't yet know the answer. He closed it without a word and then stood up and stepped over to the oldest rock/tar sandwich. There was only one way to find out if Tashi was right. Once upon a time he would have just Tashi's word for it, but a recent snafu with his lamb had alerted Tyrian to his companion's fallibility and he wouldn't put it past the primate to spin a yarn just to have a story to tell.

Using his claws Tyrian grabbed the top rock on the oldest "sandwich" and lifted it off the ground. He held it high for several seconds and then grunted a simple, incredulous, "Huh." Interesting. He cast an impish look over at the woman and then gave the sandwich a shake. The bottom rock didn't shake free or appear to loosen in the slightest. "Well, whaddya know." He shook it, more violently this time, and then held it aloft to get a closer look at the tar when it again failed to shake free. Now he was doubly curious about its other purported abilities.

Pleased with how this experiment was turning out and excited about the possibly applications for such a substance, Tyrian grinned excitedly at the woman. "Apparently it does. Oh, name's Tyrian by the way and that over there," he said, jerking his head in his companion's direction, "Is Tashi."

As she questioned the results of his experiment, he seemed to realize quickly that even he was uncertain of the results. His lips parted only to quickly close again before he turned and moved to examine the stacked rocks. With a paw, he lifted one by the top rock, and she was surprised to see that the tar held. Her brows rose as she watched, meeting his gaze briefly when he looked to her. He shook the rock, but still, the bond did not seem to weaken. She supposed that it made sense, when she really thought about it, but it was easy to say that it made sense when the evidence to prove it was right in front of her. ”Huh.” She said, mimicking his own respond to the discovery.

He confirmed the results verbally, before introducing himself and his companion. ”Antigone.” She replied, nodding in greeting. ”How long did it take?” She gestured to the rocks, wondering how much time had passed before the tar solidified enough to glue the rocks together. She wasn’t exactly sure what the knowledge could be used for, but she was sure it could prove to be useful at some point.
