With a sniff and a snuff, the cat sat down. Why in the world had she wanted to come to a place with so much water? Reeds splintered and cracked as they took the weight of her flanks. She turned and glared at them. This was not the solid snow and noiseless snow she was used to. Since venturing from her mountain range in the Far North, she had seen many sights, met any creatures, and done many things she never would've thought she ever would. But she wasn't about to start liking water. Not in a million years.

Other than the dampness of the rivers and little marshy bits though, the Delta here was quite pretty. And Silverback liked the oceans - often watching it's waves from the northern most of her old mountain spires. Of course the ocean in the north was different - it was bigger and darker and colder. It's only lifeforms were monsters of blubber. Here all sorts of things could be found. Silverback had no idea how to fish - but she had tried. There was something about the enticing movements of those ripples and curving bodies that called to her.

.....She could've stared at it for hours but, the problem was - eventually her hunting instincts would kick in and out of reflex she would hook a clawed paw into the water to try to catch it. She'd end up leaping back empty pawed, licking herself dry and cursing all things that started with 'w'. Before long though, she'd end up being pulled back to the banks - tail twiching and hind legs coiling as she bent over the surface, still as stone and watched.

Sometimes it wasn't easy being a cat.

Oddity was ankle deep in the river. He was a curious being, with every sense of sensibility within him. Otherwise for the fact of his distant relationship with the world. His could smell a cat, not a normal cat, something far more strange than that. It was a white being, with black spots. Large in size, bigger than any cat he had ever seen. The bi colored orbed wolf with a large scar across his neck and shoulder moved across the water. Lowering his head and ears as he watched the cat. Lifting up his teeth and arching his spine.
"Who are you?" He asked in a monotone manner. He wasn't afraid, he was curious and rather intrigued with the mysterious thing of this creature. His forelimbs planted in the middle of the water. His tail flicked back and forth. Oddity was a simple man, he was a slayer with his own morals. As yet he thought about the urges to kill men every day. Other creatures though he wasn't so sure about. His tongue salmon in color rolled over his muzzle. As he relaxed himself he sat in the water and opened his mouth part way to take in her scent all he could.

A wolf appeared in her stretch of water. A black creautre with solemn features and odd eyes. He asked a single, direct question. She couldn't quite tell if he spoke out of defensive or pure curiosity. Lupine body language could be so vulgar sometimes. At least this one had interesting eyes. Blue and Silver. Two of her favorite colors. Charming, really. With eyes like those, he'd make a wonderful addition to her collection. But no no, she wasn't here shopping today. She was just here to fish. To enjoy the sunlight and see what the south had to offer. So far it had not failed to disappoint, and she hoped that she meeting would do nothing to mar her good mood.

Her gaze leveled, appraisingly. "I could ask you the same question." Even when she spoke plainly, there was a hint of both the soothing purr and the sharp growl hidden beneath her words. She was a primal being of long ago, who's race remained in the mountains, which for seasons upon seasons had been the only thing to hear any stray words which might've fallen from the silver lips. "But you are also asking 'what' I am, along with the 'who' are you not? If you know not what is before you, don't you think you should address it will a little more reverence?" She straightened up, her fishing paw returning to it's place beside her other one. "For all you know," she murmured, "You could be speaking to a god."

Oddity tilted his head towards the giant cat. She was different, just like the others, but he wan't like any of the world. He was him, and she was a girl. Perhaps her species did things differently, it was obvious from that. Though he moved much like a snake it was odd. His ears moved forward as she spoke, in words that seemed to try and make things seem more complicated than they were. Oddity opened his mouth, god? Creature? What were these things she spoke of. It was a strange concept, he didn't believe in a god. He didn't believe in anything. When something died it decomposed into the ground, and then there was a great blackness. To avoid that great blackness as far as possible he had to kill others, to defend himself and his will. Shutting his mouth to let her finished Oddity sat down on his rump. Watching the cat, cat right? She was a cat.
"There is no such thing as god. That is a hallucination fearful wolves create. To avoid the great blackness." He said, his tone of voice hadn't changed. It was empty sounding, if anything at all. Oddity was not normal, he was mentally ill, than again it wasn't his fault his father had raised him and his family had those diseases running through their brains. "You are a cat, right? A pretty cat, female, independent cat. I am not afraid, at least I don't feel so at the moment. I am Oddity." He said, trying to collect those words on his mouth. Oddity didn't know how to react to a cat, they were different from a wolf. He didn't like wolf females, they were supposed to just bear young, to give birth to more males nothing more. This world was a mysterious place indeed.

He didn't seem to go for her wordplay. He just went on to drone about his view of reality, presenting it as fact that was boring enough to warrant a yawn. Luckily, Silverback was in a good mood. She'd been most intrigued with her little fishing trip, and she wasn't about to just leave. "Well aren't you a bucket of fun," she muttered as her eyes slipped back to the water level. Maybe if she hooked her paw at the last second...?

But the male was still talking, and this time he caught her attention. Or rather her vanity. He moved on to her favorite subject - herself. And managed to even compliment her amid his observations. He called her pretty and independant. Two understatements of the year, but they'd do nicely for now. He also mentioned that he didn't fear her, but at least he'd recognized that as a viable option. So far so good, at least Silverback might have herself a conversation of sorts.

"I am Oddity," the male told her.

"Yes, you are." The cat's eyes roamed up and down his form once again. "My name is Silverback, and I, for your education, am a Snow Leopard. A rare enough sight to ever see, but particularly here in this southern land." She gestured about them with a swing of her tail. Truth was, she'd gone slightly farther south already, but that had been purely scent searching - this was her actually spending time and doing things - and hunting! Well, if you could call it that. The wolf at least was being nice enough to stay still and not startle the fish. A long, silver and pinkish one came wriggling by and Silverback made another explosive dart at it.

Aaaaand missed again. She was a cat, but her mainstays were rabbit and mountain sheep, not fish. She had no instinctual knowledge about the way water reflects light - and how though she might see the fish in one place, in reality it was really off to the side. She could bat at the water quick as a snake, all day and not have much luck.

Oddity tilted his head, was that meant to be an insult? Well regardless it wasn't the first time someone had commented on his name. She was still a cat though and yes while rare, he considered himself rare as well personality wise anyway. Oddity watched her miss her fish. He wanted to laugh but decided not to, he didn't care for laughing much. It wasn't like he could feel bad for her anyway, his brain didn't connect that way. As the black male moved forward at a slow rate. He watched the fish with his eyes. His father had taught him how to catch fish at a young age. Survival to avoid the great blackness was the key to everything after all. Wiggling his front paws and back rump like a cat as he crouched his father had gotten this technique from a house cat. His bi colored orbs seemed absorbed within the water. The silver creatures fluttering in the water. As soon as one came close, before it hit the spot in front of him he lunged forward his teeth clamping down on the seafood flesh as he brought his head up with a rather well sized fish in his jaws. The poor creature flapping around in his maw. Once it stopped moving, he placed it in front of her.
"You have amazing form. Hit the fish before it gets in front of you. The way this stream it the fish are farther forward then they look." Oddity flicked his ears. "That's what house cats do.....I'm not sure about big cats though." Oddity said as he flicked his tail. The fish were already gathering again after that event. Though he took his own fish and ate it within a few bites before moving away from the water a little bit not to startle the fish. Even if he wasn't interesting, he didn't care about others. All they wanted from him was his own life. His mentality wasn't stable, but neither was anyone else's in his head. Oddity sat down and curved his tail around his back paws. Tilting his head and watching her.

The male came over. She was tempted to ward him off, but he was smart enough to move so slowly that the fish just thought him a part of the environment. They might still shift away from him, but he was starling at all. Well, except for his words. The cat brought her head up at once, affronted. "I don't need your help!" Silverback snapped immediately, her eyes growing wide with alarm and embarressment... and well, more than a little rage. But it was quick to cool. Because the truth was - she hadn't caught anything. And he had said it quite nicely...

She glared at him as he took his fish off to the side, but even her eyes softened a little as she turned back to the fish. Her tail flicked slightly as she thought. Farther forward, hmm? She didn't like water. But she did like the way those fish looked. Okay she would one... last... time. She raised her paw ever so slowly in an arch above the water. Eventually a silver-pink form came wriggling down in an arrow like line towards the waiting claws. This time, she speared her paw downwards at want seemed like a second too early.

-But it was perfect!-

She hauled her surprisingly heavy trophy out of the water, and, startled by it's paniced flapping, accidently threw it a couple yards away. The fish sailed straight over the black wolf's head and landed, still flopping, on the ground well away from the water. Silverback didn't even think about it - she followed the fish, leaping easily over the wolf and landing with her fore paws on either side of the catch.

But then what? How did you kill something like this? She pawed at it experimentally. It was rather entertaining! Her eyes glittered like stars. Her whiskers bowed forward in pleasure. She was a kitten - scooting her hind end around as she danced in a circle around the fish - now and then batting at it like a hockey puck.

Oddity tilted his head back and forth as he tried to figure out and understand this cat. She was trying to figure out how to kill it. Just bite into it until it stopped moving. It would die if you left it out of the water long enough anyway. The cost of one life protected another, and the cycle continued. That was how he had been taught. The scar on his chest was an example of an exception in some cases, more than once. Though she was still pretty after she jumped over him so easily. It was magnificent what a cat like this could do. Though he had ignored her earlier words. Despite her hostility the female seemed to enjoy the fact that she had now learned how to fish.
They'll die if you bite onto those slits they breath out of. Or if you just leave them out here they'll suffocate." Oddity said in a quiet monotone towards her. He didn't want to bother her fun. She might strike at him. He wasn't in the mood for fighting. When he was he'd let someone know and drag them into a secluded place before murdering them. Oddity was still a killer, weather he was a gentleman or not. That was how he was and how he would stay for the rest of his life since he couldn't stop the urges of taking another wolf's life.

Her little game was interrupted by the wolf's words. She paused, flicking an ear and half an eye in his direction. She was half tempted to correct him again, but actually he was telling her exactly what she wanted to know. Very well - the fish had given her a fine little game, but she was hungry and she would eat it now. Quick as a snake she snapped her teeth into what she could only consider the neck - where the slits of gills were already there. The single bite nearly took off the head but the tail still flopped in reflex for a few seconds. The kitten faded out of her system, and she returned once more to the regal, sphinx-like aura as she laid down with her waiting meal in her outstretched paws. Perfect.

On a whim, she glanced up at the black wolf. "Will you join me, Oddity?" she asked. Of course he had a hundred reasons to say no, but she hoped he would see the question for what it was - a challenge. Would he be brave enough to come place himself before a strange predator of untold power. Would he dine with a dangerous stranger? She flicked a long, black tipped tail, and fixed him with her grey-green gaze. Come along now, odd one, she thought to herself. However annoying it might have been at first, he had aided her, and in return, he was getting the chance to have luncheon with the queen.

Oddity looked at the girl, she was smart he had to give her that. Perhaps it was a trait that cats had. He grabbed the half eaten fish that he had and dragged it over towards her. He didn't care for whom he ate with as long as he fed himself. It was for his survival, never had he had fun, unless he was doing something like training or listening to orders. Ever since joining Glaciem, that was how things had been. To impress the king, he had passed on skills as much as he could. Considering all he could do was protect the females. Oddity had felt useless, but regardless, this was how things stood for him.
"You are by far the most interesting creature I have yet to have meet." Oddity commented as she sat himself down. Tearing his teeth into the fish's flesh. He loved fish, it was his favorite food. Probably it was the only thing he had been able to eat for a while after he had killed his father. Until he had learned to take down rabbits, and baby deer. Other than that, Fish was his main supply of food. Oddity unlike a lot of others had survived quiet finely without a pack. After all, Glaciem was a whole new territory to him.

Without any show of fear, or even hesitation, the mutt stood, picked up his own kill, and came over to eat beside her. Silverback watched him move, the eyes of a predator dancing over him. What was it about wolves that made them so fun to toy with sometimes? Perhaps it was because they were half brute, half soul. They were better than prey, but still low enough to be considered playthings to a work of art such as herself. So far she had been too consumed with her game of fishing to really make any opinion of the male before her. But now he was showing an impressive level of confidence and courage. Perhaps too much. Perhaps she ought to set him straight.

Her black tipped ears twitched at his words. "Don't tempt me to show you how interesting," she cooed. The tone was seductive in it's own dangerous way - rather fitting to the cat as a whole. But it was truly a warning. She was starting to take an interest in this male, and Silverback's approval was sometimes as troublesome as her disapproval. The fluffy end of her unnaturally long tail, brushed itself across the wolf's own and curved, seeking to prickle the hairs along his haunches. She had found some dogs to be easy to toy with - whether through fear or arousal or both, it made no difference to her. In truth it would probably be safest for the male to not react at all - not to play into the game she so unconsciously worked at, but he, having met no other cats, would likely only have his own sense and instincts to go. That was what made canines so entertaining - Silverback never quite knew what to expect from them.

As though totally absorbed in finishing her meal, she continued with her dainty bites of fish, sometimes closing her eyes as she ran a delicate pink tongue across her muzzle. It was very good. She would have to get some practice in and hunt these more often. In the north she often saw the bears fishing for salmon in the streams, and had sometimes stalked along the banks watching them. Perhaps she would even take a page from their book after this.

Interesting to show? What did she mean, Oddity tilted his head having already finished his fish. He didn't bother to ask anyway, as she began to move her tail across his own and his hind fur. The hell was she doing, this was not very amusing. Oddity wasn't interested in non wolves, nor did he enjoy independent confident females in the first place. The only reason for him to mate was if he were to want to have his own son. Then he would most likely discard of the females and just raise a killer just as his father had. The dark world worked in this way, his world in the very least. Plus he wasn't like the average wolf, his instincts were messed up thanks to the environment his father put him in. He wasn't quiet a wolf, but he wasn't quiet a cat either. He was simply a viper like canine who held his own mind in the world of security. His ears flicked as he tilted his head towards her. Then returned his gaze to right in front of him.
"Do all cats live alone?" Oddity asked curiously. He was only really interested in information about the world and life. Not about what he enjoyed or what another enjoyed unless it corresponded with his survival. The Glaciem wolf wasn't even allowed to mate without Isar being involved, the king was very picky over his females after all. It wouldn't surprise him if he never got to mate, but that was life after all. He just wanted to continue the cycle of killers. Oddity was not entirely there, but he was, the gentleman sufficing for the coal as it was said over any food. Though stories were simply fake things created by the illusion of a wolf who didn't want to return to the great darkness.
