So What? I'm Still A Rock Star!

Ok, this time it was definitely her fault. Natha lay stretched out on her belly high up in a thin, twisting pine. A pine that was far too thin to support the weight of the young polar bear that was currently stretching up it. His paws pushed on the tree and Natha's claws shot out, digging into the branch she was on to stabilize herself. The bear let out a mournful call and a growl of frustration but it could kiss her ass. She was not climbing out of this tree if she could help it. The bear wrapped it's front limbs around the tree and seemed to be debating if it was worth trying to pull itself up. Natha had been teasing the bear, getting in a good morning workout and the end result was that she was more or less treed. Though she didn't see it that way. She could leave any time she wanted to. Natha raised a single paw and began to wash her ears while the bear below got more and more frustrated.

Pesto had been accompanied north by her mother, and at some point she'd lost sight of the Empress. It worried her, because although the near-yearling was aching to get her freedom she definitely didn't want it to happen this far north where she had no idea where to get home. She wandered the forest calling out for her. "Mom?" It was embarrassing actually, she was way too old to be calling for her mommy. Up ahead she'd heard some low grunting coming from what could have been any predator. It made her even more nervous, but she approached it anyways. She hid behind a tree trunk, staring over at the young bear to see what it was doing with the tree. "Hey! Get down from there before it eats you!" She yelled out upon seeing the cat. It was a mistake, her call attracted the bear's attention and it turned towards her with a roar. Oh, fuck. "Thinking" "You." |

The polar bear, though young, was no cub and as it tried to pull itself up the tree began to shake violently. Natha rapidly wrapped all for limbs around the branch she was on. Her fur stood on end and she hissed at the bear who slid back down, uncertain it wanted to climb very high on something so unstable.
At that moment a young voice called out and Natha looked up to see a black and white pup. The bear noticed to. Delighted to have a new target the bear let out a roar and charged toward the girl. Now, Natha wasn't that much of a wolf lover. She could take them or leave them and of course she thought cats were superior, but it didn't sit right with her staying in her tree. The girl had tried to warn her and certainly didn't deserve to be mauled for that.
Natha leapt swiftly out of the tree, landing elegantly on her feet and in a moment she was off. Just as the bear approached the girl Natha put on a burst of speed, leapt in the air and landed right on the bears ass. Fangs and four sets of claws embedded in the bears rear end. It let out a roar of pain and then started circling violently as it tried to get the cat off, looking very much like a pup chasing its tail. She felt a shift in equilibrium and realized it was about to sit down just in time to leap off and avoid being squished.

To Pestilence's surprised, the cat did not appear to be rather bothered by it's situation. For a moment she thought perhaps it might leave her to her own devices as the bear turned towards her. Luckily, it appeared even felines had morals and swiftly it jumped down and landed upon the young bear's ass. Pestilence would have laughed, had it not been such a scary situation. The bear was angry but not fully grown yet, and Pestilence had more confidence knowing it could very well have been as young as she was. As the bear began to circle to try and dislodge the cat, Pesto shot forward. She snapped and retreated more than once, trying to steer clear of the flying weight of the bear while still snagging bits of flesh from it's sides and limbs. It was becoming increasingly aggravated, and looked almost like it was about to sit and squish the cat. Pestilence threw herself forward with all her might, catching the cat's dodge in the corner of her eye while she hit the beast. It's balance was already off from the movement, and rather than sitting she'd shoved the bear over onto its' back. It was not the position Pestilence wanted to be in, so close to it's grabby sharp claws and she wasted no time scrambling off the bear. It likely would take a moment to right itself, and the near-yearling worked as hard as she could to bother it enough with her teeth that the process of standing would be much more annoying. Natha quickly assessed the situation. The duo was doing a fair amount of damage but it seemed the bear wasn't done yet. It roared in fury, rolling back onto its legs and quickly trying to swat away the young wolf. It was then Natha saw an open. She leapt forward and seized the bear's arm, just back by the armpit. Her fangs dug in deep, her claws latched on where she could. The bear cried out, it's jaws dove down, trying to find a good angle to reach the cat at. Just as it did she let go and bounded away, only to circle back, her claws slashing across the back of the bears hind leg. It was panting heavily, clearly hurt and exhausted. Between the two of them she felt certain they could get the bear on the run. They just needed their luck to hold a little longer.

The cat was agile and swift, diving in and landing blows before dashing away to safety before the bear could retaliate. Pestilence admired her cunning, and admired her for a few moments before returning to the task at hand. The bear was a young one, and while it was still taller than Pesto herself she felt safe beside the cat companion. While it was acceptably harassed, Pestilence looked for an opening of it's own. It didn't take long for the bear to tire, and it's swipes were becoming slower and less accurate. She saw her moment while it drew forward for another attack, it's right shoulder sagging with exhaustion. Pestilence leaped onto it's back, a worried squeak coming from her mouth as she realized exactly how unstable she was standing on a bear. Before she could decide against her plan, she moved with open jaws to bite hard upon it's spine where it's neck met the back. The bear roared, turning to try and get towards her but she bit down harder and harder. It was hard to tell what exactly the cat was doing from up here, and so Pestilence pushed her from her mind and focused only upon her kill. Finally, with enough of a crunch the spine gave way beneath her jaws. She felt the bear buckle, and roll onto the ground. Pestilence fell along with it, luckily avoiding the crushing weight of the bear as she hit the ground and shuffled away. "Thinking" "You." |
