Harbringr had paired them all up and he was supposed to fight someone with a name too long for him to remember right. He moved off and away from the others, the dwarven boy then turning around to square up as he waited for his opponent to do the same. He had never done a proper battle training before, and the only other fight he'd been in against another wolf was against the albino bitch that had tried to destroy his den. It was safe to say he had won that that fight.

He stood there, quiet at first and feeling kinda awkward at the fact he was going to be watched. He preferred things to come naturally like the first fight he had done, so he wasn't sure how to start this one..."Alrright, do ye wantae go ferst or shall I?" He asked Pesto as polite as he could.

Pestilence moved along with her sparring partner when it was their turn, placing herself not too far away from him so that neither pup had to sprint to reach their opponent. Gimli was a child she'd had little experience with, though he was a Klein and that in itself earned him enough respect from her. In truth Pesto thought he was very lucky to have the empire's name without Abraxas' to muddle it. He looked a little awkward where he stood, and as his voice reached her asking who'd start she took a moment to think about it. Pestilence never liked to go first, it was easier to react to your opponent then it was to skillfully attack them. However she did want the smaller boy to be comfortable, and perhaps he'd lose some of his awkwardness if she initiated things so he could move off instinct. "I'll start, if you don't mind." The princess gave him a smile, and then readied herself for their match.

From her usual proud stance she shifted lower, ducking her head between her shoulders and spreading her legs for traction. Her tail flagged behind her to assist in her movement and balance, and her ears pulled backwards to protect themselves from roaming teeth. Gimli was smaller then her so perhaps the latter was a little unnecessary, though Pesto wanted to ensure she practiced the proper way - uncle Hari was watching, after all. Once the boy also appeared ready, Pestilence darted forward. She closed the distance between them quickly, jaws parting and reaching forward to aim to grab him upon the scruff.

His ears perked atop his shaggy head when she said she'd go first and he nodded quietly. He usually wasn't quite very often but seeing as how he was almost never among so many at once well, it was safe to say he definitely needed to work on his social skills. He waited for Pestilence to initiate her attack while he calculated the distance between them. They weren't too far apart, enough so his short stubby legs could make the distance easily enough. So when Pesto decided to go at him and did what he figured she'd try to do (especially since she was big and he was smol), he too would dart forward.

Only as Pesto reached for his scruff, the smaller boy wasn't in her line of sight anymore. Instead, he had slid to the ground beneath her, half on his right side as he used his shoulder to slide across the ground like last time, and he used the momentum to roll partly onto his back to aim a kick at the lower part of her chest with his hind paws. Simultaneously, his jaws reached for whatever leg he might be able to get a hold of in an effort to abruptly stop her motion and trip her up.

Gimli moved to meet her charge and as she ducked to bite upon his scruff she got a jaw full of open air. He'd slid beneath her, and Pestilence's head flew down to look at him from between her front legs as he slid. It was a move she'd never seen before, and for a short moment she only gaped at him in confusion and wonder. Once his paws came out and landed painful kicks at her chest Pestilence was reminded that this was still a fight. She did the only thing she could think of doing - she threw her weight down as hard and fast as she could to try to squish the smaller wolf beneath her. His teeth latched upon her leg but she continued through the pain. As she fell she angled herself to her own right side - to mirror the angle of his slide on his shoulder. At least that way if he dodged her flop, she'd have her feet in a position to have a battle of flailing kicks while they were both on the floor.

His tactic had worked, and from the corner of his eye he could see the confusion and shock clear on her face. He couldn't help but flash a grin just before his teeth connected with her leg, but Gimli didn't seek to maintain a hold there. Just like his first fight with Recluse, Pesto did as he predicted she would. As the larger pup sought to crush him beneath her, he used the momentum and power from his kick to slide him forward (and closer towards Pesto's rear end) in an effort to get the majority of his body out of the way of her full weight. Her weight landed mostly on his hind legs, pinning them to the ground but that didn't stop him entirely. He lunged upward in an attempt to grab at her tail and yank it, seeking to wrap his jaws around her appendage to hopefully force her skittering off of him.
