The festival had been a success, and so had the interest in the tournament that had been announced that he was hosting. After all the participants were accounted for, he led the march to the battlefield where the tournament would take place. He was curious to know who would win the first rounds as well as who would reign supreme at the end of it all. There were many he recognized, but also many he didn't. Regardless of who won the tournament, they'd be crowned Winterfell's Champion until the next tournament. After everyone was gathered, he started off by announcing the first of the fights. "First round for the Intermediate division starts with Zagan and Torin. Remember, this is a dominance fight. Just do your best and may the best wolf win. Good luck you two!" The Northern King moved off to the side to spectate as well as start the other matches. He was curious to know who'd win the first rounds, and of course, who would reign supreme at the end of it all. He had to admit, it was interesting seeing so many different wolves gathered around. There weren't this many back home, but at least he could scout out other pack wolves and get a feel for their abilities in a fight. A feeling of excitement tingled through him, but he kept a cool mask on to keep it from showing. Some of these mortal wolves looked impressive, while others were hardly anything to sneeze at. Attention turned to the alpha hosting the event, deep blue gaze watching his opponent as he listened to the rundown of the rules and all that. Nodding at the end of it, he gave his opponent a few short seconds to prepare before he charged at him. The dark pelted male aimed to come head on at Torin, but at the last moment he shifted to his right and sought to slam the point of.his shoulder into the shoulder joint of his opponent. Simultaneously, he opened his jaws and aimed to grab the side of Torin's face in an attempt to get a grip and control of his head.

Torin was quite curious about the other wolves who'd showed up to the tournament, though he mostly kept to a silent outside observer. He'd have his chance to speak to Acere he had no doubt, but even he couldn't turn up the chance to size up any potential opponents in a friendly tournament. Hopefully, he could do Lirim proud. Torin wasn't given much chance to size up his opponent before Zagan came charging at him. Torin made a decision then, he met the younger man's charge by starting his own. He was bigger then Zagan and so couldn't really get under him but he could at least hope that his charge would be enough to surprise the younger man and knock him off balance if they collided. He hunched his shoulders as he ran, making the target Zagan had in mind much more protected and allowing him to escape with his shoulder joint only lightly bruised. As for the grip Zagan aimed for his cheek? Well that hit. The Right side of Torin's face flared with pain, feeling his lower jaw slotting easily into the younger man's jaws. With a growl Torin would try to pivot his hips, swinging them as hard as he could to his right, hoping to hip check Zagan in his more vulnerable side, and maybe free his face in the process. The older male decided to charge at him, too. But Zagan didn't stop. He narrowed his eyes, hackles raised, & ears tucked as he prepared to meet the larger male. The pair would collide, though Zagan spread his hind legs and gripped the earth with his claws to keep from getting pushed back. The collision jarred him, but it didn't stop him. His teeth connected with Torin's face, and lucky for him, managed to grab hold of Torin's lower jaw. With a satisfied growl, the Abraxas male sought to shake his head while Torin's jaw was still in his own, though it was potentially short-lived as Torin swung his hips into his free side and caused him to let go.

Snarling, Zagan didn't let up so easily. Though his jaws had become dislodged, he barely allowed the other man a breath before seeking to wrap his forelegs around Torin's neck, his hind legs spread for balance. Jaws snapped open again as he sought to bring his jaws over Torin's face in a vicious attack. While he knew this was for a tournament, he had a lot of pent up anger and it just so happened that his opponent(s) would be on the receiving end of it.

Torin grit his teeth against the rattling in his head as Zagan shook him, however, Torin's retaliation seemed to reward him and he stumbled away a few steps as soon as his face was free. It stung like hell and he already knew letting his opponent get that grip in had been a mistake. His opponent was younger than he was and clearly quite upset, as Torin felt limbs wrap around his neck. Torin snarled and tried to yank himself free, straining his neck and swinging himself wildly as he did so. He felt teeth graze his cheeks after one swing, blood welling just above his jawline. Zagan had managed to scratch him quite good but the hold missed. With a frustrated grunt, Torin pointedly swung his head this time, angling up to his right to try and headbutt his opponent.
