The festival had been a success, and so had the interest in the tournament that had been announced that he was hosting. After all the participants were accounted for, he led the march to the battlefield where the tournament would take place. He was curious to know who would win the first rounds as well as who would reign supreme at the end of it all. There were many he recognized, but also many he didn't. Regardless of who won the tournament, they'd be crowned Winterfell's Champion until the next tournament. After everyone was gathered, he started off by announcing the first of the fights. "First round for the expert division starts with Ignis and Theory. Remember, this is a dominance fight. Just do your best and may the best wolf win. Good luck you two!" The Northern King moved off to the side to spectate as well as start the other matches. He was curious to know who'd win the first rounds, and of course, who would reign supreme at the end of it all. Like many others, excitement coursed through him as he headed to the battlefield with the other participants. He wondered who his opponent would be, but most of all, he was more curious to know who would win and reign supreme! While he was confident, he wasn't too confident and didn't care one way or another if he won or lost. He was here to have fun and test himself against others. When his uncle finally stopped and started announcing pairs, his ears perked up when he discovered he would be sparring with Theory. Ah! Someone who was on his level! Well...age wise, anyway. He couldn't say what her experience was in fighting, but he was eager to find out.

Facing off against her, he grinned and dipped his head. "Ready or not!" He warned before kicking off the ground towards her. He made it seem like he'd be going head on, but then he feigned left, and then right. His real goal was to charge his shoulder into her left shoulder, hoping to push her back at the very least. Provided he managed to get close enough, he then sought to wrap his jaws on her left side just above her shoulders while potentially using his weight and height against her.

Theory was excited to represent Abaven. Not just as an alpha, but as a fighter. Winning the championship title - or at the very least, her first bout - meant something to her. It felt important, now more than ever, to prove her worth. New packs seemed to be forming on the horizon and the threat of the Armada, even after returning Poem and Motif, loomed dark in her mind. Dragging herself back to the present, Theo cleared her head as Acere made his announcements. Ignis... that was Corvus' friend! Her tail wagged a few times at the recognition, but the fight was quickly underway.

Alouette took to the skies from the trees behind her and called out his movements from what she could see. Theory watched him feint wildly and narrowed her eyes. His actions didn't seem to make sense - right up until he buffeted into her left side. The young alpha grunted from the impact of his breastplate armor. It wasn't quite enough to knock her down. She strained against him. Alouette cried out with worry as she saw his jaws open up. Theory, taking her cue, abruptly sat down. Ignis missed his bite mark by a hair, although she felt the deep bruising from his initial jostle. Now that they were shoulder to shoulder, she realized he had a height and weight advantage on her. She needed to think fast. Theory sprang away from him to gather herself. Maybe she could just tire him out - all that armor surely had to weight him down, right? She curled her lips in a fierce snarl and feinted at his front legs. Maybe she could get him to back off a little bit, giving her more room to work. At the last moment, she went in for a real grab, attempting to bite down hard on his left front shin.

He had succeeded in clashing with her, and he was thankful for the padding he had put on the backside of his breastplate or else that impact would have been just as painful and jarring on him as it was on her. While the weight currently did make him slower, it was just a prototype that he was testing. Nonetheless, Theory was likely still quicker than him this match. He was surprised when she sat, his jaws clicking shut on air and by the time he drew back, she had sprung away. Ears flicked at the sound of a bird, and it took him a few seconds to figure out that it was her companion helping her out. A bird friend eh? Well, two could play at that game! As if reading his mind, his palm cockatoo flew above them squawking his head off as loud and as annoying as he possibly could as he sought to drown out the other bird's warnings for Theory.

Ignis pinned his ears against the sound, though truth be told, he was pretty used to his birds annoyingly loud cries. As Theory regathered herself and went in towards his front legs (or so he thought), she had somewhat psyched him out, though not quite fast enough. When he thought she was going for his legs, he had jumped forward to avoid it, so when she actually went for his left foreleg, he had already landed on his feet again and just as she started to bite down, his own jaws snaked forward to wrap over her top jaw. At the same time, his wolverine showed up behind Theory and sought to swipe the alphess' hind legs out from under her with his body.

Theory flinched away from the loud cries of Ignis' bird. It was a striking looking bird, that was certain, but Alouette was nimble. She soared lower and lower, circling tighter and tighter. Although the palm cockatoo would follow her, that was for certain, at least she could put some distance between them for the time being. Theo's Her eyes narrowed and she refocused on her true target: Ignis. Friend or foe no longer mattered on the battlefield. Besides - he was Corvus' friend. Not hers. She put herself in a vulnerable position by diving for his front legs. Suddenly she was seeing the appeal of wearing so much bulky armor. Although it slowed him down, it had narrowed her choices of attack so much as to make her small advantage worthless. Lou dove behind her when she saw the wolverine go in, cawing fiercely and flapping her wings in its face. Theory dove forward, slamming into Ignis' chest and hoping to jostle him backwards. In the process she'd wrenched her jaws through his grasp - she could feel blood streaming down her muzzle from fresh cuts. Hopefully the fight would be called soon. She'd have to find speak to Brander about crafting some armor of her own.
