Harbringr scouted out a nice clearing near the shore of the main island of the archipelago. Birds were cooing and singing above him. He enjoyed their songs though he was wary of getting pooped on and so he strategically moved to the location he'd picked out, doing his best to avoid walking under over crowded perches. Fight training had gone well but now he felt it was time to take his mentorship seriously and hold a training session with Pestilence. He wasn't for sure what he would teach her, he was really more of a 'winging it' type. However, he felt it was important to find out what she wanted to learn most. If she wanted to spar they'd spar, if she wanted to focuses on defenses, terrain, what have you he was good with that to. Harbringr lifted his head and called for Pestilence to join him for training.

Pestilence was not the type to ignore her mentor and uncle's call, even though her recent milestone gave her a bit more freedom than she had as a pup. The yearling strode proudly out towards the shore, catching the sight of Harbringr and offering him a grin. "Hi Uncle Hari!" She greeted, tail wagging slowly behind her.

While it was hard to think of how she was planning to leave him and Ashen's Empire, Pestilence wanted to make the most of the relationships she'd built within. Hari was a powerful warrior and Pesto wanted desperately to learn from him whatever she could before she left for Fireside. "What's up?" She came up alongside him, looking over her shoulder at her uncle and realizing for the first time that she was the same height as him - possibly even larger.

Harbringr grinned as his niece trotted into view. "Hey Pesto, good to see you! I wanted to check in and see how your training is going. I thought perhaps we could work our fighting skills together. I am fine doing a spar or lesson, just let me know what you would like." Harbringr wasn't the sort of instructor to have a rigid curriculum, especially when he wasn't sure what skills Pestilence had been working outside of their training sessions. He'd seek to help her in the areas she most wanted to improve or if she felt like a practice spar he was certainly up for it. Sometimes the best way to learn and improve was just to practice.

Harbringr was the best teacher Pestilence could ever hope for, and his relaxed style of lesson suited her perfectly. She grinned up at him, tail beating behind her hard in excitement. So far the yearling felt like she was improving, but still occasionally the girl lost a fight even when she was fully confident she would win. It seemed she had more luck taking down bears lately then other wolves, perhaps she needed to use the 'dirty fighting' tricks the Fireside wolf had taught her.

"I'm up for anything, Uncle." She responded with enthusiasm. "I made some super sharp claw covers to use in my spars and I got a companion like you! Two, actually, but the monkey mom gave me wanders a lot." At the mention, her viper poked out from her thick neck fur. "Or, or we can go hunt a bear. I've seen so many bear around they're super tough."

"Excellent!" He beamed at Pesto, proud of her for taking the initiative to arm herself and gain companions that would help her in battle. "How about we give your new claws and companions a work out? I could use a good spar." He grinned before moving apart to give them some space to fight. He set his defenses, anxious to get started.

Pestilence had no doubt been practicing and he was eager to see just how much she had improved. Harbringr dove at Pesto, at first he attacked completely head on before sidestepping to his left and swooping in as low as he could. He sought to slam the front of his right shoulder into the elbow crease of her right leg, his head twisting in to bite the meaty part of her right shoudler.

Her uncle didn't waste much time in his attack and Pestilence skittered backwards to allow herself to stumble into her defenses. He was an exceptionally skilled fighter, and Pestilence was not prepared for his feint. He came upon her right side and his shoulder hit hard against her right leg's crease. She threw her weight to the left to spin on him, yanking her shoulder back in the process to avoid his dangerous bite. Her left leg and chest lifted and came down, aiming to use her height to catch Hari in a grapple and shove him down to the ground with the momentum. Her head pulled backwards not yet seeking a bite, for she knew how badly it could go if her uncle managed to gain control of her head through the maneuver. The viper coiled around her neck hissed, occupying the space there and awaiting opportunity to strike.

Harbringr was pleased by Pestilence's response as she pivoted out of the way of his fangs, going with the force of his blow to reposition herself. He felt the weight of her left leg on his back and he swiftly twisted his head around, seeking to bite the leg that was pressing on him, hoping to catch her right above the wrist. As he moved he attempted to keep his defenses as well set as possible. He wasn't quite sure where Ari was but he knew the monkey would get involved if he felt it was worth doing so.

Ari did pounce, seeking to leap onto Pesto's back, his hands reaching out to try and grab the snake by the back of the head.

Pestilence was sure she'd eliminated all his options for retaliation, and when his teeth clamped down upon her wrist she realized just how much more she had to learn. The yearling growled, flexing her toes on the attacked paw to hopefully dig the newly-crafted claw covers into Harbringr's skin. A weight suddenly came down upon her back and Pestilence tensed hard. The uncoiling of the snake around her neck was an unmistakable feeling, and she knew her viper was out of the fight. She pushed harder, clenching her teeth through the pain of his bite and hoping to finally drag him down onto the ground and end the spar.
